Thanks cmace2 - it's oddly reassuring that I'm not the only one without a contact number! I don't even know who "my" midwife is - I was never told and I've seen someone different every time. I guess it doesn't matter too much.
Good luck today Sunshine! Hope little one cooperates.

Just de lurking to say that even when you have numbers is still hard to get hold of someone!!
I have mobile numbers for each mw in my local team and when I wanted to ask for some advice I got through 5 voicemails before I actually spoke to one! Some of the voicemails said leave a message but if I don't get back to you in half hour I might be on a day off, so try someone else!!Mini me due March 2014

Argh I thought I was having a fairly easy pregnancy so far!
My mum came as OH couldn't get more time off work, and was so happy that the lovely sonographer that did my 12 week scan did the scan today!
She got some heart checks done but AGAIN he wouldn't move! She even tried scanning me on my side but still he would not co-operate! So I was sent away to get a hot chocolate and something sugary to wake him up... lo and behold I came back and he still had not moved! But eventually she got the measurements, she even let out a little 'whoop!' when she finally got them all!
The bad thing though is that it appears I have a low lying placenta and have to have another scan at 32 weeks. I've come home and the more I read the more I worry, most do move up later in the pregnancy but the NCT page says you only get offered a 32 week scan if the placenta is currently covering the exit... of course if that stays that way a C Section will be in order... bye bye midwife led until and natural pain relief!
Just feel very fragile right now... I have OCD (obsessive thoughts) so all I can do now is worry0 -

Glad she managed to get the measurements this time! Eventually!
I have the low lying placenta thing too, i have also been given a scan but it's at 35 week, my placenta was about 1cm away from the cervix and apparently they need 2cm. I'm desperate for a natural home birth so I felt the same as you, I came home feeling really disheartened and upset and that this was yet another thing to be out of my control and to worry about. 95% of low lying placentas move up as the bottom bit of the uterus grows an awful lot between now and the end so please don't lose hope!0 -
Hey Sunshine
Glad your little boy co-operated in the end! It's a little embarrassing when they won't do what they are told even in utero - a taste of parenthood already, eh?I just wanted to reassure you that my close friend had a low-lying placenta and it absolutely did move up and out of the way long before delivery and she was cleared at 32 weeks to have whatever delivery she liked.
You never know, some ladies that are low risk now may develop complications, while other things like low-lying placenta might correct themselves. In our area the risk assessment for The midwife centre is not until 34 weeks, so you will have had your scan by then and hopefully it will be looking good.
Another close friend had an elective caesarean for a breech baby and she said it was a wonderful experience - calm, quick and pain free at the time. She had no problems with recovery. So even your worst case scenario still has the possibility to be really positive and good. All that matters is looking after you and getting little Sunshine out in a healthy way.
Sending big hugs! ETA - sending big hugs to Cllola too, I hope you also get the home birth you'd like.
Not too much happening here - getting ready to start some part-time work next weekJust presiding over a growing bump - it seems so long to go until the third trimester even

Hey Sunshine,
I can symphatise with the catatrosphising (sp?), as it is something my head does too. I didn't even know it wasn't what everyone did untill my CBT therapist lady told me so. Things go round and round in my head and get worse and worse.
I was trying to find the card with the website address on where there is the sheet that i found really helpful... it makes you challenge and rationalise the issue, kind of talking you down... what i would do for someone else if they came worrying in my direction, but what i am unable to do for myself without help, if you see what i mean? It was really useful when i was worrying before and after my amnio.
So i was trying to find the card, which i had in my hand only this morning, and husband comes down (working from home today), and wants to know why i'm flustered and untidying all the tidy things i'd spent all morning doing. I told him i needed the card. This made me laugh, as i needed my 'wellbeing card' to make me feel better, as it was loosing it that was making me feel panicked!!
He then noticed i had only one slipper on. One big purple fluffy ankle boot slipper. I can't find the other one i said. He laughed. He laughed that he was upstairs wrangling a council with a several thousand pound project and i was downstairs barely coping with loosing a slipper and my wellbeing card. I laughed. :rotfl: Then I cried.:( Lots. Then I was laughing And crying at the same time. He thinks the 'hormonal woman' moodswings have begun. I'm just feeling useless as since i can't remember the 'safe place' i put that card in, and have managed to loose one slipper but not the other, how on earth will i be able to take care of a child?!Please forgive the badly spelt alias... I am a long time contributor who needed to reclaim anonymity for health/job related posts.0 -
Ladies please help/advise me. This is my 5th pregnancy and will be my 5th c-section. I am somewhere between 10+1 and 11+4 and hav my 12 week scan on 26th this month. The problem is this....... I started to feel light headed just before I found out I was pregnant, this has got worse each week to the point i have spent the past 3 weeks on the sofa only getting up to go to the toilet/wash etc and sometimes need help doing that. If i stand for more than a minute i get so light headed i feel like im going to pass out and very sick. I have just brushed my teeth which has resulted in me almost fainting and being sick 3 times whilst recovering. I am in constant pain and sickness all day long (the pregnancy seems to have triggered my sunusitis which is giving me very bad headaches and nose pains to the left side of my head).
This is really affecting my life now, im unable to be a proper mum, my older daughter is having to take my younger one to school for me and my husband is having to work full time then cook and clean when he gets home. Ive not managed to see dr yet because i really cant make it there and husband works shifts but tbh our dr is pretty rubbish.
Ive never had sickness like this in pregnancy before never this bad and never not been able to stand like this, i cant imagine going another 29 weeks like this, its already making me depressed, im in constant pain and sickness. Has anyone had this before, is it normal or is something wrong?0
