  • Morning,

Our scan is tomorrow at 4pm and we are finding out! It was DH who really wanted to, I was happy to wait but now I am just as excited to find out.

I am 95% certain it is a girl (based on my sister having 3 girls and DH sister having 2) but obviously there is a chance it could be blue, especially as we had IVF as I believe that leans us slightly towards a boy (due to the male sperm being dominant?)

    Guess away ladies :)

Congrats to all of the recent scans and so pleased to hear that you are recovering well Aunty_Pickle

  • I'm guessing blue danielley. My SIL is 1 of 3 girls, her sister has 2 girls, everyone said she'd have a girl, my nephew is nearly a year old now!
  • Danielley I'll guess blue just so it evens out the colours on the list!!!!!

Hope the scan goes well Danielley. I'm gonna guess team pink so my boy has even more choice :p

Been trying think of names today now we know it's blue and we've got nothing!! We struggled with boys names last time so this times even more difficult!!
  • I'm guessing pink danielley :) looking forward to the update tomorrow!

Go team yellow Aunty-Pickle and Princess kate!!! :p we can leave our guessing game until we're near the end of the next thread... Now that's a scary thought

I had a few more members of staff congratulate me this evening and they are all keeping quiet, so far not a single pupil has said anything to me and I'm definitely struggling to hide it now! They either think I'm piling onthe pounds or are just too polite to ask if I'm pregnant yet :p I'm debating whether to tell them now or wait until my 20 week scan on the 21st, and I really want to tell my form class first before anyone else as they are the ones I see everyday and have had since I joined the school! I'm also feeling pressured by others in my department to make my decision now about when to take my maternity leave. Truth is, I just don't know! Have any of you ladies already made the decision on when you are leaving?

I keep going round in circles about when to start maternity leave, partly because being twins they will definitely be early but I don't know how early. Also a lot will depend on how mobile etc I am towards the end; I've heard lots of stories of twin pregnancies ending up being almost bed bound!

My current idea is to work until the end of Jan (14th Feb will be 37 weeks, considered full term for twins, and 38 weeks is the point they said they'd intervene if they'd not arrived yet).
  • missymoo, thinking back to when I was at school (eek!) I'm sure the pupils have been talking about it for months :p;)

In terms of mat leave, I have nooo idea . As a medical secretary, it is mainly basically a desk job and I am "only" part time (work mornings only). So from that point of view, in theory, I "should" be able to work until quite late on. However, there are 31 steps up to the office (!) and toilets are on the ground floor. I just have no idea how I'm going to be with things! Considering how I've been so far, not good! My line manger has never had a pregnant worker before so we are both guessing about things! (She's been really good so far!)

I also don't know if I will still need a c-section or not and obviously that could change things. The cyst has been removed (:j!) but I don't know if having abdominal surgery means I wouldn't be allowed to go through labour. It's one of my questions for my follow-up apt.

    Sorry about the long musings!!!

  • I still have 4 weeks annual leave left to take so I am planning on finishing end of January then take February as leave and start may leave start of March. I will be 37 weeks on 3rd March so as pington says - full term.

But I am meeting with my HR rep today who will be working with me on maximising my leave.

Feeling a bit off today - belly is really tight and painful walking plus can't get my breath properly. Think the girls are squishing my insides a bit.

I'm due 01/04/14 and I am planning on working up until 36/37 weeks. I should have around 6 days holiday to take by then so hopefully will only be on official mat leave for 2/3 weeks before due date.

My best friend is planning to come over from the USA for the first 2 weeks of April so I'm hoping for a week 38 birth to allow us to be settled for when she gets here (and to allow DH & I time alone during his pat leave) don't worry, I am well aware that the best laid plans will go awry :)

I have been given a large project with tons of additional responsibility since I announced my pregnancy and I've been finding it very stressful. I hardly slept last night and was upset & crying off an on, so although it's my 20wk scan today at 4pm and I have called in sick at work. The icing on the cake was in a meeting yesterday I pointed out that there wasn't much time left to do things, my boss said 'we'll you've got 5 months, to which I replied, I only have 3 full months (Dec, Jan & Feb) and then another boss asked when I planned to go off, I said end of Feb/beginning of March, to which they looked annoyed and made a comment about women always getting pregnant to avoid large projects. Perhaps I am being over sensitive but I have worked there for 15 years and foolishly I expected them to be pleased for me (they know I've struggled to conceive) but it seems I am just an employee same as anyone else.

I know the same issues will be there tomorrow (and I'll have to tackle them) but I wanted to rest and relax before what is a wonderful occasion.
