jediquigley - I have been sooooo tired lately! I thought it was supposed to get better in the 2nd trimester but I'm sure I'm worse. My poor OH says he hardly sees me as I'm ready for bed by 9pm
Hmmm, I think it's our body telling us to sleep as much as we can now because very soon we will miss it!
I told my form class today that I'm leaving to go on maternity leave (with a dramatic pause before adding 'maternity leave' so they actually thought I was leaving for good!) and they had no idea! A few then said they had suspicions but they said I've hidden it really well. They were all really pleased and so excited so it was such a lovely reaction, especially as this is my third year of having them so I feel very close to them. Naturally most of the school then found out by break timeBut its lovely getting all their congratulations and their guesses of boy or girl. Last lesson I even had two girls take the equipment that I was carrying off me, saying I shouldn't be lifting and that they would do it from now on! Bless them, they really are lovely and its made my day. I'm so happy for the weekend now!
Although the thought of having to tackle the shops to get some Christmas shopping now fills me with dread
Have any of you got exciting plans for the weekend?0 -
I'm just on my.phone so can't do a big reply, but in answer to your questions, Tilly:
4D scan is Sunday! I'm so excited. But a bit sad becuase I've just found out my parents might not be able to make it :'o( they were planning to visit for a night and to come to the scan (they live 5 hours away) but my poor Dad has done his back in so might not be up for the journey. I'll be so gutted if they can't come because they were so looking forward to it.
I did have a separate thread about my wedding! It's in July, so the babies will be 4-5 months old. We considered changing the date when we discovered I was pregnant but decided to stick with our original plan. Now we'll have two extra mini bridesmaids and symmetry for the photos :-)
I hope your little bit of time off has helped you de-stress and that you're feeling better now x0 -

Milly – Hi, how are you getting on? What happened about the potential job opportunity at your work? I remember we talked about it a few weeks ago when I was going on about my job all the time! Have you got a date for your 20 week scan?
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Hi Tilly. I'm glad you've had a relaxing week off. Sounds like you've been productive. I hope wen you go back to work it isn't as stressful. It isn't good for you or the baby.
I decided not to apply for that job in the end. It took 6 months before they advertised and in that time I assesses the new team I would be joining and decided it wasn't for me. So I used the excuse as being pregnant to tell them I would d
No longer apply for it. Don't think "I don't respect you or think your team is very good" would be a good way to turn the offer down!
Names wise: so far we have told people we haven't spoken about it yet, which we haven't really. I have some ideas and a list on my comp but me and OH haven't had any serious discussion yet, I do not want to tell anyone our preferences, I saw my sister discuss it with friends and family and they all thought they could have a say on what she called her child. They had no problem tells g her they didn't like her choices and it made her second guess. I want the decision to be soley mine and my OHs with no influence from anyone else. Also, we will a couple male and female favourites but not make a final decision till after baby is born.0 -
We've told people our two name choices but said they are subject to change. I'm not sure what they would change to though, given they are the only two girl names we both like!0

Also, I do have my scan date - 24th November and I have a consultant appointment straight after.0

Thanks for asking about me Tilly. Im feeling much better after my time off work, can not be underestimated! Touch wood the headaches seem to have eased but for some reason my morning sickness made a return this morning! I left for work at 7am & hadn't eaten till I got to work around 7.45, I got really hot & felt unwell so had to run to the loo, thought all of this was behind me! Had a very hard 13 hours in work, problem working in a hospital is you have to deal with a lot of horrible things which are really draining! Feel very achey tonight & my back is in bits so I've headed to bed. Meeting my friend for brunch tomorrow & then going to watch the rugby, Wales v Fiji! After that I'll be exhausted I think! Missy I'm the same, tiredness seems worse rather than better & I'm getting much more achey. Don't like thinking I've done too much but after 13 hours running around in work I'm bound to have! Get to do it all again on Monday, roll on February 20th, expected date I'll finish work!
Tilly I asked my community midwife about the MATB1 form, she said as she'd seen me at 16 weeks she was happy to give it to me without seeing her again, got to phone the surgery after my 20 week scan next Tuesday & she'll leave it at reception for me to collect. Then I just need to make my final decisions about leave & arrange everything with work. I think then they'll finally do my risk assessment!0 -
Tilly - I am so sorry I didn't acknowledge your post, looking at the times you posted just 3 minutes before me so I must have still been typing away when you posted
Glad you had a good week off and have been very productive by the sounds of it! Love the sound of the pink Converse
OH and I both have Puma Suedes so I really want baby to have a little pair of its own to match ours - possibly a bit chavvy but I don't care! Also my brother is trainer mad, its like he gets a new pair every week  so he said he can't wait for baby to arrive so he can share his shoe addiction!
Funnily enough, after saying baby is more active in the evening as I've been sitting here on my laptop its been really active! And OH has already left for work so no baby time for him yet. Its so lovely, its like he cant go to sleep until he's felt it move, last night he made me stand up and walk around for a bit to 'wake it up'!
Sorry to hear your parents won't make it to your 4d scan, Pington. Will you be getting a DVD in your package? If so then at least they will be able to watch it afterwards and share some of your joy.
I'm glad you mentioned the form MATB1 as I've been wondering about this myself. Is it normally issued at 20 weeks then? And when is the deadline for which your employer needs to be given this? I've been holding off deciding on when to take maternity and my Head just said to have a think and we'll discuss it in another meeting later, but I have no idea when that later meeting should be! I've got my 20 week scan next week so if I get it then that will be fine. I'm not due to see my midwife though until I'm 23/24 weeks which takes me up to the Christmas holidays and too late to meet with the Head, and then I'll be 27 weeks when I return to school which seems too late0 -
Missy- I think, well this is how it is with my employer, you have to hand in your MATB1 form by the 25th week of your pregnancy & at that point state how long you intend to be off and when you'd finish, these dates are changeable due to circumstances however.
My community midwife in the GP said she's aware of this & as I wouldn't see her until I was 25 weeks, although it will be 24 due to christmas, she'll sign it & leave it for me to collect from my surgery after I've had my 20 week scan, just need to call the surgery & leave a message for her & she will arrange it.0 -
AFM - I've had a pretty uncomfortable night, either I really overdid it in work yesterday or there is a lot of stretching/growing going on. Going to have quite a long day today so hoping I feel ok & I'll try & have a lazy day tomorrow!0
-
Thanks Princess, I might give my midwife a call then and see what she recommends. Hope you're alright, definitely have a lazy day tomorrow!
I've just had my first real attack of pregnancy hormones making me all gooey and emotionalWas looking at Christmas cards in Clintons and then thought I'd look to see if I could get one from 'the bump' or for a Daddy-to-be as when I worked in a card shop before I'm sure you could get them. They only had one so I picked it up, but when I read it I started welling up it was just so sweet! It says 'Happy Christmas to my Daddy to be. I can't wait to meet you because Mummy says...' and then on the inside it says '...you'll be the best Dad ever' Such a silly little sentimental thing but I just thought it was so cute I had to buy it, and only £2 too
As for the rest of my shopping trip, it was a success! Picked up quite a few Christmas presents and have got some ideas for others, so I now feel a lot better and more prepared for Christmas which is a relief! Still a lot to go but its a start
