It's so hard isn't it Aunty, because normally people love the fact they are losing weight, but with a little one inside it's essential to put some on! Are you on anti-sickness tablets?0

Ah Auntie Pickle, sorry you've still been suffering with sickness. I was still having the odd bout but *touch wood* have been ok since week 14 (last week) Still wary in the mornings tho, just incase, especially if I'm out we went for brunch on sunday, our wedding anniversary & I only ate half despite it being amazing, I was just worried about feeling too full and then feeling ill.
Had a bit of a headache this afternoon, got home about 4 & slept on the sofa until 7! Oops! Been feeling better in myself generally but have been getting those funny stretching ligament pains again the last few days & I'm still getting really tired & if I don't have a nap I end up with a really bad headache. Hope everyone else is feeling ok! x0 -
Hi everyone,
Sorry to hear a few of you have been having worries - re:the weight gain Trixsie I'm really surpised the MW thought 7lbs was too much, firstly a lot of midwives (including mine) don't even weigh you after booking in and secondly, it really doesn't seem that much. I've put on a stone now and I'm 23 weeks today but I've been the same weight for two weeks now so at 21 weeks I had put on a stone. My bump doesn't even look that big so don't quite know where its come from but I'm not worried - baby has been spot on for measurements at my scans so I would really try not to worry. I think it was a bit rude of the MW to worry you to be honest as we all know you have to eat what you fancy those first few weeks and if you are feeling starving you need to eat! I've read that some women put on a lot weight near the start of pregnancy and not much later on whilst others put a lot on at the end - we're all different!
Pickle - sorry to hear you have lost so much weight from sickness but as long as you are keeping something down each day and taking a good vitamin baby will do just fine - hope the appetite picks up soon! Booo to the pilates classes too, I would defo ask for your money back for the course!
And to anyone thinking of getting a doppler - I would say don't! When I had my panic last week it took ages for a MW to find baby's heartbeat, If I'd been doing it myself there is no way I would have found it and I would have worked myself up into a right panic - it's really not that long until you'll start feeling a lot of movements! Of course each to their own though and those of you with a posterior placenta might have a lot more luck.
Sorry that was a bit of an essay! On to me....I'm doing well at the moment, after my little panic last week I've felt the baby move all day over the weekend and this week so far, hubby even felt baby kick for the first time - he was made up! I had a much needed lazy weekend and it helped so much, think I just need to be careful to rest more!
So, 23 weeks today - bump is expanding, linea nigra appeared today and I'm peeing about 20 times a day! The third trimester is on it's way.....!!0 -
Hi everyone.
Thanks for all the encouragement! It's so nice to be able to come on here and have a mini-moan! My best friend is going through a divorce at the mo so I don't really like to bother her!
I'm not on any anti-sickness medication. I kind of just kept going thinking "it will get better soon". Silly I know but that's just what I kept thinking! I'm on a multi-vitamin thing with folic acid and omega-3 stuff.
It is getting better though. I haven't been sick in the afternoon for a couple of weeks and not in the evening for about a week. And I'm not sick every morning so it is definitely not as bad as it was! I am also able to eat more normal-ish kind of stuff so yesterday had spaghetti bolognese and tonight was pasta-bake. Still liking my carbs!!!! Slowly getting back into veg. Still off yoghurt though! It's so weird what my body decides is "acceptable"!
Yesterday morning I actually woke up and felt hungry and I honestly didn't know what to do about it!!!! :rotfl: (I ate some plain biscuits!) But that's the first time for, well, nearly 3 months!!!
I have a definite little bump now which OH likes to say hello to!
ooh, sorry, turned into a little essay there!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -
oh, meant to say that my mum (retired GP) said that the only time to worry about putting on "too much weight" when pregnant is if there is a large increase in a short time period that can't be explained by just having been eating too much! It can be a symptom of other things like excess fluid.Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0

Hi all
Regarding weight gain, I think I am gaining a bit too quickly and I feel like I am getting huge around my thighs and bum. I'd put on 6lbs by 15 weeks but I've been on holiday this past week and reckon I've gained a good few moreI see the midwife next week when I'm 17 weeks so I'll see what she says. I'm not usually overweight but I have been eating more of what I fancy (to compensate for no alcohol) and I haven't been exercising as haven't felt able so perhaps I need to start healthier choices and walking more?

Hi all
Our thread had disappeared off the front page so I thought I'd bump it back up
Yay it's Friday! What's everyone got planned for the weekend? I'm having a pretty chilled one this weekend, just catching up with family. It's my housewife day today and when the food shopping was just delivered I was ID-ed! I'd ordered some vodka for my SIL's birthday but obvs I'm not planning on drinking any and I'm 33 years old anyway! I'll take it as a compliment though as I hadn't finished my make up
The ladies on the first thread were chatting about antenatal classes. Have you ladies thought about them? To be honest I don't think I'm going to bother. I went to one NCT class in my last pregnancy - then lost my baby- so I think I know enough about the birthing process. I'd be more interested in the bit about looking after the baby but I don't know if there are any classes like that. I did exchange a few emails with the NCT teacher so I might email her to ask.
I applied for the promotion at work this week and the interviews are next Friday so I might hear something today. I'm keeping my eye on my work emails in anticipation!
Anyways hope you're all feeling well and have a lovely weekend! X0 -
Hi ladies,
Hope you are all having a great Friday and happy plans for the weekend.
I have just booked our nct classes which will start in December. We have recently just moved to our area so thought it would be a way to meet people for when I am on maternity leave. Plus neither of us know anything about having babies or how to care for them so thought would be best to learn.
We are on our way to Cyprus (well waiting to board flight) for a week of relaxation and rest. Probably our last holiday of laying by the pool and chilling for a few years so we will enjoy it.
Have a great weekend ladies and hope the bumps are going well.0 -
I have booked NCT classes that are two Sundays in Decemeber and a Wednesday evening breastfeeding workshop. I'm hoping to connect with other mums to be in the local area and have heard NCT classes are a great way to do it! It would be great to find another twin couple too but I don't know how likley that is.
Good luck with the promotion, Tilly, and have a great holiday, Carrot!0 -
Hi everyone!
NCT classes - not going to bother with the paid ones - they're nearly 200 pounds! They're 20 miles away so not particularly local. I plan on going to the mums&baby groups in the local villages instead. There's 2 that I know of within about 5 miles so I think they'll be better value! We'll probably go to the breastfeeding one though as hoping to bf.
This weekend, we - well, OH! - is going to take down the fitted wardrobe in our bedroom. I have packed away lots of clothes that I won't need for a while (!) so there's nothing in it now. We'll be able to use the extra space for a cot for baby. Otherwise we'd have to leap-frog over the cot to get in/out of the room! As I'm likely to have a c-section we think it makes more sense to do this and have the cot as near to the bed as possible particularly early on. OH is sufficiently DIY minded that it won't be a problem!
Anyone else having comments about bumps yet?! I had someone say how massive I looked and someone else say that I'm not showing anything at all!!!! I do have a little bump as I'm quite petite so even though I've lost weight, something obvious is going on in the tummy area!!!!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0
