I got my Down's syndrome results today and it says that it's a 1 in 340 chance and classified as low risk.

What should I make out of it ? I don't want to use DR.google

I believe it's based on the back of neck measurement. Therefore it is estimated that of the babies who have the measurement taken from your baby, 339 will not have down's and one will. So pretty tiny. Does that make sense? It's how I understand it!

It was explained to us like this...

Mother's age
Measurement from back of the neck
Levels of proteins in your blood

The three figures are taken and a 1 in X is calculated. Each result is personal so if you had 340 children one would have Downs.

Do you know what your starting number was? This is calculated from your age.
Mine was 1 in 39 but with the other factors mine went to 1 in nearly 800.

I don't know what my start numbers are.

I also had a blood test along with the scan and some results in that are abnormal. They highlighted it and asked to bring it to my 16 week appointment. I putting the results here please can someone put my mind at ease as my next appt is not until 04 July.

Bhcg 7.44 ( which according google is very high and indicates trisomy 21)

Nt 0.79
Papp-a 1.38

Start number is not your age its calculated from your age. Called background risk
