I need to find a way to split out the various stages of 'the journey'. I find the journal format is hard for people to follow for people who aren't reading from the start. But I think I'd have to pay for the site to do that!

Wow! You've had an amazing journey, when I saw all those pregnancy tests I laughed out loud because that's what I did!
I had treatment for cervical cancer but not the same surgery you had, I forget what it was called now. I've had two lots of cold calgulation, three letts loop diathermies and a cone biopsy, I don't know what the other thing was called. That coupled with endometriosis, poly cystic ovaries and pelvic inflammatory disease meant I was told I'd never carry a baby. My ovaries don't work properly, I've had so many cysts/polyps/fibroids removed I've lost count. Plus sometimes I'd go 6-9 months without a period.
I'd always convinced myself I'd be ok not having children and got on with a career and being a good step mum to my oh 3 children.
Finding out I was pregnant was the biggest shock in the world, especially as it happened of its own accord!
I cried and was very scared, I convinced myself something would go wrong and a million other worries but now I couldn't be happier!

    Thanks. :)

It was certainly an eventful year last year! But it's strange now that it all just feels like history - like it happened to someone else. I'm still surprised when the docs talk about being able to see the damage done (by the surgeries) when to me it all just a few weeks here and there of hanging out at home.

I think in some cases what you had done can have similar impacts. My surgery was sort of like a really big cone biopsy, but they remove more tissue around the cervix.

Anyway, all done now! I was supposed to have an MRI in March but it's been delayed until the baby comes. They thought about doing it but I said regardless of the results (which I fully expect to be normal) I wouldn't get more treatment now. So on that basis there was no point doing it. I'm slightly disappointed that I won't get an amazing image of the baby! But not worth the risk.

I had also sort of accepted that I'd never have kids. We were in the process of moving to Australia to become a big part of the extended family life, and friends with kids, and accept that we would be a close aunt and uncle, but gave it one more go on IVF. And it worked! We are both still pretty surprised I think. :)

funnily enough I'd only been given the iron tablet advice on Monday evening and I read exactly the same here at the same time. I've got OH to get me some fruit juice, hope it doesn't matter that it's exotic not orange but he's not great at following instructions. I've been on iron tablets for 2 years now so am frustrated that no one has ever told me this before. May help explain why neither the tablets nor the B12 jab every 3 months have actually given me the feeling of having any energy.
  • Wotcha!

Lots of lovely (and some worrying) chat to catch up on.

Daisiegg - I really admire your attitude about the bleeding and not letting it get you down.

OMG - am I at the top of the list soon/now? That pelvic floor message is genius!

Alioops so glad to hear your appointment was helpful. We have a cot up (bought off ebay) as well as lots of other stuff. I am not superstitious.

t2d - hope things continue as well as can be hoped.

    :T for heartbeats and scans!

Bump wise our charming neighbour took until about 22 weeks to notice and a man seeling cupcakes noticed at 21. I also have a first baby. Weight gain will fluctuate over time and very much depends on pre pg weight.

Welcome impulse and toft! I've been [STRIKE]interfering[/STRIKE] lurking on the >12 week thread. So hope all continues well for you and what an amazing CHristmas present I hope this is, especially after the trouble to get this far :D

DH comes to everything but he is at the end of a three year english undergrad so hasn't got to negotiate with an employer and it never clashed with lectures etc. He is super excited and when I have been feeling poorly it has been a lift to know that his excitement has been strong. He has been a pet at helping out round the house (given instructions!)

Peonie - feeling better yet? Tut to OH. My boobs have been aching and mega sensitive off and on ALL pg. Not what you want to hear but I gues it shows how different we all are?
    Met DH to be 2010
    Moved in and engaged 2011
    Married 2012
    Bought a house 2013
    Expecting our first 2014 :T
