I was told to take the iron tablets with fruit juice as it helps the body to absorb it. Taking it with tea or coffee counter-acts the iron but they can be drank at other times. My iron dose doubles from tomorrow for a month so I hope the faint spells will disappear quicker - woohoo...

I hope this sorts out your iron stores. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue a few years ago (didn't realise at the time) and have been taking iron ever since. Also stay away from milk when you're having your tablet as this can inhibit the absorption. I smile when I see 'iron fortified' cereal as you normally would have milk with this! Having a tablet with OJ when you have a meal of meat and veg is a good thing (if you can stomach that!)

oh one last thing, if you're taking vitamin D also, take D in the morning and iron at night. They both can mess with each other if taken too closely... iron is good over night as if it affects your tummy, you're not aware as you would have been if awake...

I am absolutely fine - bleeding has become a normal part of pregnancy for me! I have been bleeding on and off since 17 weeks (am now 24+6). At first it was because of a low lying placenta. Now the placenta has moved but I am still having bleeds due to cervical polyps, and an eroding cervix. All fun and games! Nobody seems too concerned and baby is moving lots. It just seems to happen when I have been on my feet for too long. I am meant to be having lots of rest and keeping my feet up as much as possible. The hospital did say I have to get checked every time I bleed but I think they meant more than I am now - it is really a very small amount. It happens very frequently so I can't go traipsing to hospital every time!

Gosh you poor thing, I had no idea you've been through so much. I really hope things settle down for you and you can enjoy your pregnancy (don't you just smile when someone says that :rotfl:). As long as the doctors aren't concerned and your wee one is bobbling along happily then at least that is some comfort. x

Oh.. wanted to ask a question.... up in Scotland there is a strong superstition for not setting up cots, prams, putting baby items on displayetc.. until the actual moment you walk through the door with the wee one! (or your partner can do when you're at hosp too...the main thing is the babba is born). I'm not originally from Scotland so found it a wee bit interesting... does anyone else find this where they are in the UK?

I'm Irish (but live in the UK) and they definitely have this superstition back home! I will be paying no attention to it though :)

If I had to rely on hubby setting up the cot etc, the baby would be sleeping in the carrycot of her pram :rotfl:. I hadn't heard of anything until being here though.

I have heard of prams not being stored in the house due to superstition and is probably why M&P aren't delivering our stuff until a month before my due date lol.

If you want to sort of hold on to the tradition but still set everything up could you not just keep the door closed???

Currently listening to the neighbour use his punching bag and smell the weed that he and his mates are smoking - awesome.

With my DD my Mum kept the pushchair at her house until she was born. We did set up the cot and moses basket though but not until last minute. Obviously this time we have all the stuff anyway.

Just been taken out for lunch with work and very glad I am wearing my maternity jeans :rotfl:.

Hi all. Sounds like some nice scans and heartbeat monitoring have been going on.

Not had chance to post. Lo not sleeping more than three four hours a night so I am feeling super dreadful. Been in bed for a few hours this afternoon after coming home from work. Sinus spray been used, thanks for advice. Helped a bit but headache not gone.

Hope bleeding has stopped dasiegg (you are daisi egg to me too). Right off for a big glass of fruit juice and my iron tablet :) more useful advice.

We bought the cot second hand a while ago, so it was already assembled and is hanging out in our bedroom. Got the pram a few weeks ago, but then I had the worrying scan and now I'm too nervous to throw out the packaging yet! Which is silly as we've made up the pram so it's just taking up double space with packaging and the pram.

I am irish/australian and never heard of this. If I relied on DH to make up cots and things I would be waiting a long time!! Baby would be sleeping on the floor until I was up to it. :)

Had another scan today and no terrible news, but I don't think I'll be coming off bedrest until the baby comes. Cervix has shortened to 1.5cm (from 2.5 - a normal person is 3-5cm). The docs said it was expected, and they were ok with it so long as I stay at home and keep gravity off my cervix as much as possible. If it goes below 10mm then possibly move into hospital.

Baby looking well and growing perfectly. I'm a bit nervous now, I don't like the cervix getting shorter and shorter but the doctor wasn't panicking.... They said the normal gestation for ladies like me is 34-36 weeks maximum, although there are very few so the data isn't that reliable. They would do the C-section at 37 weeks regardless, as I can't go into labour due to the risk of uterine rupture.

But - good enough news! Now to tell work that I'm not coming back...
