Lemon_Tree wrote: »lil miss, you're likely to find Alexander shortened to either Alex or Xander, can't think of anyone shortening Jack, but where I grew up that meant they lengthened it so they could call him Jacky but it's unlikely. Elijah was on my boys name list, some will just drop the E at the beginning. Again Zachary was on my list, probably to be shortened to Zac(k). Though they were unlikely to get past OH as his mother would have been unable to pronounce it at all (not that I gave a fig about that)
have you thought about initials when it's added to middle names and your surname, I was quite determined to be careful when it came to initials.
Yes initials are important to us too. My friend's OH is KAK, and my brother was nearly COB which sounded too much like male anatomy to my parents so they made him OCB.
A friend went to uni with a girl called Jennifer Tull who insisted on being call Jenny (keep saying that with her surname and you'll get it).
DH's aunt calls her son Jacky (on actual birth certificate) and we both want it to be Jack not Jacky. Fine with Alexander and Zach/Zac. Felix was immediately renamed 'Feely' plus lots thought it was a pet's name. Elijah turns out to make a minor pun with surname - Elijah Howse - I like a House.
Thanks for the thoughts!Met DH to be 2010

Good luck with the house stuff! Grrr v stressful.
It really is! We need to find a house, buy it and move in before baby arrives.
The plan was always to move this year, and when we decided to start trying to conceive we naively thought it would take months before anything would happen. Especially as I had been on the pill non stop for 20 years, plus I'm mid 30s.
Turns out that our LO doesn't care what our plans are, and wants to make an appearance quickly. I feel ridiculously lucky, and it could be much much worse.
I'm just a little stressed is all...
Interesting when you all felt your bumps move (or not yet as the case may be). I can sometimes feel pressure on my tummy which I sometimes wonder if it's a limb pushing out. Maybe just wishful thinking.LBM February 2008. DFD March 2013 19 August 2011Debt at LBM £14,395.48. Debt Now £00 -
Little bit to go still, but looking nice! Will have the name and DOB at the bottom once we know them.0 -
T2D that is amazing, your little one will love it when he's older! Did you buy a kit? I'd love to do something like that but have never done cross stitch before so might be a bit ambitious. I'm crocheting a blanket though (grey, white and yellow zig zags) and plan to sew a few things too.
We are currently in sunny Spain, it's about 35 degrees and gorgeouswe were both very tired yesterday as the trip wasvery long so crashed out watching F1 in the apartment, but have big plansfor the rest of the week, some of which involve something other than eating

We bought last year (much ahead of schedule - saw a house that was right and before we knew it it was ours!) Yes we were naive too - on the pill since 17, 33 nearly 34 when we started also assumed it would take ages. Like you, not grumbling at our good fortune but has left us a little less well prepared financially than we might have been otherwise!
The pressure is an interesting myself and I think Lemontree (foot in our camp and the big girls' camp) had the same feeling of someone pressing on the inside. That feeling for me was rare and preceded definite knowledge that it was movement I'm feeling so could be.
t2d - get your skills!
Mrs C and angeltreats-enjoy your holidays! I have a long weekend booked for end of June whereby I join DH and in-laws for s elf catering Wales. Very kind of them but I never understand self catering as you go all that way and spend all that money to make life harder for yourself than if you were just at home. Still I can hope the weather is nice and we are making a brief foray up to Chepstow where my friend with 2 babies is so that'll be nice.Met DH to be 2010

That's amazing. I have no crafting skills at all. How do you get started with this sort of thing?LBM February 2008. DFD March 2013 19 August 2011Debt at LBM £14,395.48. Debt Now £00 -

In as nice a way as possible, it's good to know others in a similar situation to me. And let's face it, we'll all cope one way or the other, won't we?LBM February 2008. DFD March 2013 19 August 2011Debt at LBM £14,395.48. Debt Now £00 -
hello!
Well, DH felt his first kick last night! Soooooo exciting! I got three really strong kicks, so I got him to pop his hand on my tummy and he felt the next one. Didn't think that would happen at 19+2. I think he was slightly freaked out by it, TBH. :rotfl:
Thanks for all the advice re NCT, think I am going to bite the bullet and just book it!
T2D - my mum does them and was looking at that one for our baby! Looks great, I'll tell her it looks good when done.
RMR - hope the house hunting goes well! Its stressful enough doing a house up with a baby on the way, can't imagine the stress of buying one.
lil miss - sometimes in Scotland, Alexander gets shortened to Alec, just another consideration.
WTDN - yeah for just being able to enjoy a christening! Does the whole infertility thing feel like a lifetime ago? I find myself somehow magically forgetting everything we went through, even though it was awful. Same question to you T2D and Peonie.
Monty - hope you are feeling better and you too Peonie.
Hi to all those on holidays, will be me in a week! :T0 -
T2D - Fab crossstich
So ladies who has found nice comfy OVER the bump maternity jeans? I have one pair from dd2 that are heaven my other under bump ones just don't stay up !!! Even when I was full term with dd2 they still never stayed up.......
Hope you ladies on your hollibob's are enjoying the break.
Yeah for kicking
I have ordered some heartburn meds from doc's this morning as it's just getting so painful now.... Fingers crossed my script will be ready when I get dd2 from pre school...If you can think it........it will happen0 -
The cross stitch is from a kit, I've done them for years. Must have done about 20 pictures for friends as they had kids! It sort of got out of control and a little difficult when we realsied we were having trouble conceiving, but I always loved giving them as gifts. I have heaps of completed kits, but also a worrying amount of ones I haven't started! I've started doing quilts also as I got a bit bored of the picture ones, but went back for this one as it looked so suitable.
Sewit - I know what you mean about the infertility. It haven't forgotten how it feels, but it sort of all feels just part of the journey now. Maybe it's like childbirth - once it's over (and please god it is) the pain fades quickly.0
