My midwife didn't say that either but at the consultant last week that what they said. They made me feel like an obese elephant. I'm a size 16-18 and I'm 5ft 7 I don't look like I weigh 15 stone but I do! Must have dense bones or something!
I'm going to ask the midwife when I see her. To be honest I was a bit surprised when they said it but it could be to do with the stitches I'm not sure.0 -
My step kids mum had a baby on Xmas eve last year, she put on 6 stone with her pregnancy and ended up in specialist care, plus was given slimming world on prescription during the pregnancy! Now she's not losing the weight and blaming in on hormones and thyroid! More like booze and food lol!0

I only see midwives not consultants. Just have to play it by ear and see if they say anything I guess!
I am incredibly short and wear a size 14, with some 16 bits coming in once I fell pregnant and started to feel bloated and fat but not big enough for maternity yet. But because I am so short a 14 on me probably looks a lot bigger than on someone taller. On some of the pictures of me from our holiday in April I look utterly awful, like a huge whale. Not pregnant, just gigantic! I am unlucky that I have really wide shoulders so before I am even fat I am just wide. I keep joking (only half joking...) that by the end of this pregnancy I will be as wide as I am long, literally a ball shape and they will have to roll me around!0 -

6 stone! well at least I should not gain as much as that....I hope :eek:0 -
I think we all look at pictures of ourselves or a mirror and think we look worse than we do. I feel fat all the time but my oh loves me and I'm sure he wouldn't have got with me if I was that bad! Although I was a bit slimmer back then lol!
The biggest thing to focus on is no matter what we look like we have lovely partners who we are having babies with and those babies will love us no matter what too. Life's too short to worry so much, and if I want cake then I'll have it0 -
I'm 21 weeks and my BMI was 27 at my 20 week scan, I'm quite short (5 feet) so I look big but I'm happy with my BMI. They weigh me in kg and I have no idea how to convert (my scales growing up were in stones & I don't have any scales at home now).
TBH I'm not interested in how much I weigh, it's only going to upset me lol It's healthy weight, in that I'm not over-eating and I'm having a healthy diet, it's just the baby. I'll keep an eye on my BMI cos my Dad's diabetic so anything over 30, puts me at risk-but I've got a glucose tolerance test in June anyway. I'm not going to let those celebrity mums and their "look at me six weeks after a baby and flat as a board" magazine spreads worry me :rotfl: It takes 9 months to put the weight on, so I'm aiming for 9 months to get back to my normal weight again-fingers crossed0 -
Thanks for the lovely welcome ladies!
T2D - yes I thought the stress was over when we got pg, but OMG this is even more stressful! I really am hoping an praying for a more relaxed journey from here!
Geek - that is a very sensible approach! I think I will adopt that.
I don't weight myself very often, but I think I've put on about 2lb (approx. 1kg) so far as I was 61kg at one app the next I was 62! My BMI is within normal limits so I am trying not to worry too much about weight. My main worry is what I'm eating. Due to stress, being very busy at work and just generally have lots on my healthy eating is going to pot so I really need to get back on track as I feel it in my bloating and pooping (apologies, TMI!!). Might have to crack out the prunes again! :rotfl:
Is anyone else suffering from a really stuffy nose? I feel like I am breathing like a heavy breathing crank caller all the time. Its really annoying and no matter how many times I clear my nose, its stuffy again within 5 mins. DH said I was snoring like an express train the other night. I responded that I was just sharing the magic of pg with him!0 -
Oh and Mrs C, don't feel guilty about falling pg by accident or quickly. We all have our crosses to carry in life, for some of us its struggling to get pg, for others its something else. x0

Good plan GeekPetite! I also have a glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks, but so far my urine, blood pressure etc have been perfect.
In the interests of relaxing and not worrying I just ate two biscuits...oopsy!0 -
I've always wanted to be a mummy but after all my gyny problems I was told the chances of it happening were less than 10%. I always convinced myself I was content with my 3 step children and I had the best of both worlds being able to have a well paid managerial job.
However the past 18 months I've started to hate my job, I felt like I have no purpose and my job doesn't matter. Seeing friends with their babies made my heart ache I can't describe how it felt.
So we made plans to get married in New York and honeymoon in Florida which gave me lots to look forward to, and then a few weeks later one week into my new job I felt really sick but not normal sick and something just hit me and I knew! I did the test and cried because I was so shocked. I now know from my dates that I knew just 2 weeks after conception which is crazy.
We've not used contraception for 6 years so it really was the biggest shock ever0
