Wow ladies, you've no idea how many pages I've had to read through to get to the end. And all since I went out last night!

Busiest ceilidh I've ever been at, excellent band, and the floor was never empty. I was only up for the Canadian Barn Dance so no bruisage for me today! DH never moved off his seat all night due to his back but is a lot better today and I've even managed to get him to jobs that I've been waiting to get done for 18 months!!!

One rather large glass of white for me last night, but I made it into spritzers to last longer. Whilst I've been laying off it in recent years because hubby doesn't drink, I was probably still averaging a bottle of wine a week but now it's probably a large glass every fortnight. Usually if we're out for a meal or have guests. I'm refusing to feel guilty about it. I don't mind the odd glass of wine, what really bugs me is seeing people smoke all through pregnancy. Poor baby.

As for car seats, we have my sister one that she used for her third baby, I know it's not been damaged in any way or involved in any crashes so it's perfectly safe to use. We also got back one that hubby had loaned her so we have the next size up too.

Daisie, hope the back has eased off a bit!!!
SewIt, nice to see you across here and hope you're feeling better.

Feel a bit guilty when I read about people having had IVF and others ttc for a while before it happened. We were an 'accident'. Someone asked me on facebook one night if I knew what had caused it yet and I responded 'wine. I think it was the wine. I blame the wine'. It was my birthday weekend and we'd been out for a very nice meal and I think I managed nearly 2 bottles that night! After me saying I don't drink much aswell! Oh well, at least I I have an excuse. Not sure about hubby's. Lol

  • My OH will be 31 when baby born- I might be 30 or 31- depends if it wants to show its face early! :) I always thought I'd be a mum by 28 but it just wasn't to be. Am just glad we finally got here! I've had my mum banging on at me since I was 21 that she'd had me by that age (I've been with OH since we were 16). When I got to 27 she reminded me she'd had 3 kids by that age.... no pressure mum! I always wanted 4 kids but with the time it took to get to this point I don't think it will happen. OH wants a big family too so we are still talking about adoption which was a very real possibility a few short months ago. I know that I won't go on any contraception ever again and if it happens then I don't care how close together age wise they are. :)

The body oil I use is this one http://www.marksandspencer.com/moroccan-body-oil-100ml/p/p22210678 . I like the smell as it reminds me of a hammam OH and I went to in Madrid. It soaks in quickly and I don't feel like I've 'lubed' myself up after using it! :) I also *love* this. It's got eucalyptus in it so it's really cooling but smells divine. I feel like I've had a real treat after a bath with these two. My face balm doubles up as a mask and that smells very spa like too so I can pretend I'm being pampered somewhere other than my tidgy bathroom! :)

Ali- at the risk of being little miss contrary I always found that using 'stripping' face washes (astringents like witch hazel, clearasil etc.) made my skin oilier and spottier. It hasn't been until I started using oils on it that it's settled down. I followed the advice on this blog http://www.carolinehirons.com/2012/05/acne-cheat-sheet.html and it's really settled my skin down. I think that pregnancy hormones have helped too but comparing the adult acne I had at my wedding (pre this routine) to the skin I had just pre-pregnancy (after following this advice) and it's totally different. I still get the odd spot but nothing like I used to.

My back is much better today :) I had half the night with the dreamgenii pillow but I chucked it out the bed when I went for my 1am wee trip. It was ok but my left arm, hip and leg still really ached. I am so bad at sleeping on my side - it just hurts! I know it is early yet to worry about not sleeping on back but I think it is probably worth trying to get used to it now.

How is everyone doing with weight gain? Can't remember if we discussed this recently or if I am getting confused because I also lurk on the next thread up (out of nosiness!) and they were discussing it recently. I am horrified that when I got back from holiday three weeks ago I had gained 5lbs so far in this pregnancy. Then I weighed myself this morning and it had gone up to a 9lb gain! I think this is not good at all and I must rein in my eating but it is sooooo hard :( baby just wants all the food!!

    How is everyone else doing?

Good morning. I lost just over a stone in the first 12 weeks and I've only put 2lb back on!

It's a false sense of security I know it.....!

daisie - I think (hope!) monty is a few weeks behind us.

My weight has fluctuated. I think I'm about 1-2kg above my starting weight, but that was a shock to me at the time. I was weighed for the anaesthetic during egg collection and I'm not much over that. BUT, I'm almost 8kg (!!!) higher than I was in October. Two cycles of IVF, plus Christmas, holidays and stress ruined all my weight loss, then I got pregnant so that was the end of that.

I'm trying (with varying success) not to worry about it. I can re-focus on weight loss after.

I keep telling myself it is ok. I will be 20 weeks next week so am almost half way through, so in theory 9lbs for 20 weeks is not horrendous - except I am pretty sure you gain the most in the third trimester! Argh! To be fair, I have been comfort eating during the stress over the bleeding etc, and I am doing literally no exercise, not even a little bit of walking. I need to just stop the comfort eating and keep a much better eye on things.

I am ashamed to say my BMI was already 34 at booking in (like you, that is thanks to Christmas!) so I don't want to have too much to lose after the baby comes. My mum always says she gained (as in, didn't lose) a stone with each pregnancy and she blames her ongoing weight struggles (twenty years after last pregnancy!) on that. I don't want to be fat for the rest of my life :(

I'm 15 weeks so yes behind! My bmi was 34 too so I'm being really careful because the consultant said when I slip into the 35 bracket I'm high risk and have to meet a specialist team and an anethatist etc as there's more that can go wrong and it's highly likely when I get to 35 they will put the stitch in so I'm doing my best to eat really well.

The constant bloating and constipation isn't helping because I can't eat much. I'm literally forcing myself to eat even though I'm not hungry I feel so full.

I know I'll put weight on soon, so I'm just enjoying what food I can eat and trying not to stress!

Hmm I didn't know that about BMI. My midwife said my BMI was fine squeaking in at 34, if it had been 35 at booking in then I would be high risk. She did not say anything about what happens if it increases, and I have not been weighed since booking in. Surely BMI is not accurate when you are pregnant as there is a baby, placenta, fluids, big boobs and increased blood volume accounting for extra weight as well as just fat? I have had no indication that I will be weighed again or that I needed to keep an eye on weight gain or that if I gained too much I would become high risk...argh! I am all worried now...
