Okay so my Mum's just sent me a link for the car seat available from mothercare. How has everyone chosen theirs as I'm starting to get a bit confused by it all plus there's mention of not every seat fitting every car and I'm not sure if I'll have a car after July.

Argh wish I had my mum and sister here to take me shopping and help me out. Think I'll have to pick the brains of my friends with kids next weekend.

Isofix car seats have special bars to attach to, you can find them on your back seats if your car has them (mine doesn't).

There's different groups for various ages/weights, and some are suitable for more than one group. The one we got was a group 0+/1 I think, basically it goes from newborn to about 3/4.

Argos has a buying guide that's quite easy to understand, here's the link

Hubby was in charge of the car seat and he looked at the Which guide to help him choose. I think he had to pay £1 to access it online.

Holey moley, I have ridiculously bad lower back pain today! We have just been to Mothercare and bought a dreamgenii pillow thing to maybe help support it at night to see if that makes a difference. It is agony today and I have no idea why...I think I slept fine. Pooooo.

We've just spent a few hours with the kids and the dog at the park. My stomach is killing me. I'm going to lie down now and hopefully sleep a while!

Bought our car seat today! We'd decided on maxi cosi pebble as hoping to use the 2 way fix base (if it fits) with it and the pearl which you can use rear facing up to 4yrs.

Got an ex display model for £80 and given that I'd won a £50 mothercare voucher recently we only had to put £30 towards it! It's a bit dusty but I've given it a wipe and is fine now. The cover I'd machine washable too so may wash it at some point. Pretty good purchase I'd say.

Mr P's mum was in her 40s when she had him and his brother and there's 4 years between them. She always said we had a long time to have a family but I always knew I would not have it easy and just because she could get pregnant naturally at 44 does not mean I could.

Seeing so many ladies recently get a BFN after their IVF treatment reminded me how incredibly 3 of us were to get a positive and at the same time. I wish they could get theirs too.

I know what you mean about all the BFN's. I don't post there much but read it all the time, and it's heartbreaking to see it not work. We were so lucky - hard to believe really. It seems that IVF is as unfair as TTC can be. Seems to work for some people, and others try and try and try...

Now that it has worked once, and on our first full attempt, I feel like it is easier to consider it working again. But my head knows it may not be that easy.

We still have the 12 frozen 1 day embryos to think about. We will bring them to Australia and then decide, although I suppose in theory I could transfer one (if one makes it to 5 days) before we go back. That would be quite insane!

Lollipops we went for that combination and I loved both seats. The only thing about the pebble I didn't like was that chunk number 1 outgrew it before 9 months and had to go into the pearl early. He loved forward facing though and we didn't have any problems in that respect. The maxi cosi cabriofix was used by a few of my friends with the same isofix bases and that was bigger and definitely lasted longer.

Thanks Lixi - hubby tall so every chance it may outgrow early as well but given we will have to buy 2nd car seat in any case I'm ok with that I think..

I'm 30 but baby is due 5 days after my birthday so probably 31 when it arrives. Hubby is a bit younger at 27 (28 when baby arrives). We want to have 2 pretty close together and at the moment I am all for trying again when this baby is 6 months as it took as 6 months to get a BFP with this one. I appreciate that 6 months is not a long time TTC but I would like a small age gap if possible. We will play it by ear though.

I am getting so jealous of you ladies buying things. I have to wait until we move house and we still don't have a completion date! The nesting instinct is kicking in and I am getting impatient. So until we move I am just trying to get our stuff organised to make the move as painless as possible

I think I'm going to take a break from 'stuff' shopping for a while. It's stressing me out for some reason. I've got enough this weekend, and we (I mean DH and I) can re-assess the pram/car seat discussion at a later date.

Feeling tense today for some reason. Daisie - I've been icing my hip every night the last week, even if it's not hurting, and it's surprisingly effective. If you can feel any warmth on your back maybe give it a go. I normally go for massage or heat, but the ice has worked really well. Bag of peas of course...

I've made a cake for work as I promised I would, and once I've cleaned up I'm going to pick up the long abandoned cross stitch as I find that quite calming.
