I don't get paid for KIT days at my work so there's no way I'm doing those! I get to add on BH days after my mat leave.
T2D how are you getting baby home from hospital after giving birth ? I thought you had to have a car seat for that otherwise the hospital wouldn't let you leave or is that an urban myth?0 -

I suppose that only applies if you are travelling by car - surely they can't stop you walking out with baby in a pram to either walk home or get on a bus/train?0 -
Thanks for the welcomes everyone
Hearing about the microwave steriliser not fitting has made me paranoid now, was just about to test it for fit but the inside of the microwave is filthy. Think I'll give it a clean first and then try, although looking at the state of it I'm not sure it'd be a problem buying a new one
I felt my first movements at 14 weeks, when I had my 16 week appointment the midwife asked and when I described it she agreed that it wasn't windI'm only 5 feet and I have a small frame and that tends to mean you feel them sooner apparently. Didn't feel much after that until 10 days later when I got a weird, rolling sensation.
LemonTree-my hubby was really hoping for a girl, so fingers crossed they got it right. It was a nice view from the bottom up and baby was quite still at that point, so there was a definite gap. I keep telling him that the angle might have missed bits, so to be prepared for a boy as well!0 -

We won't be driving home. Presumably a cab. But I agree, what would we put it in! I think it should be called a baby carrier that can also be used in a car, rather than a car seat.
Anyway, I think I have convinced him. He has asked me to ask two friends of mine who took their babies to Australia at 6 months. Which is excellent, as I can 'finesse' the answers!
I've decided to get a troll bedside crib, again as it will hopefully last our six months, and I like the idea of bedside sleeping. There is one on ebay now for local pickup so I'm hoping I'll pick that up cheap. Bought two bundles of clothes today too, for silly small amounts of money, so feeling better.
Will go looking for a nice second hand change table now.0 -
CC I'm planning to bf and also just bought the avent microwave steriliser and starter kit for when I want/need to express.
I'm hoping to wean at around 5 months as I'm getting married 7 months after due date and don't want to be bfing or having leaky nips on my wedding day!!
Sorry the bleeding has started again daisi. Did you manage to give baby a sugar rush dance? Baby dancing has a new meaning now!!
Welcome geek and congrats on your team pink status!
Anyone convinced on the gender of their baby with no evidence whatsoever? I am going to be in complete shock if scan says this baby is a girl!0 -
Can you bring a pram into some big cabs? And secure it like they do with wheelchairs? Or am I being a crazy person?!0

I didn't try but I have felt a few flutters (I think) the rest of the day and the bleeding has eased again. I feel a bit more relaxed than I did this morning.
I am like you absolutely convinced the baby is a boy! It is weird because up until the 12 week scan I thought it was a girl and even dreamt of a girl but at the scan, for some reason, I had an overwhelming feeling it was a boy. I didn't see any bits or anything like that so not sure what gave me that idea! Now I refer to it as him, think of it as a boy and am sure it's a boy. I will also be shocked if the scan says it is a girl....though I will be over the moon because I have secretly always wanted a girl. I think, though, having the last 8 weeks almost 'bonding' with a boy (even if it is an imaginary boy!) has made me feel much more positive about having a boy so that means I will be pleased either way,..whereas before, a small, secret, horrid part of me would have been slightly disappointed not to have a girl.0 -
Is it really selfish that I want to stop breastfeeding by Christmas so I can properly enjoy Christmas, new year and my birthday at the end of December without being tied to breastfeeding and, most importantly not being able to drink?
Don't answer that, I think it is!0
