  • frozenpenguin - We really do feel very lucky in how many attempts we get, it's just awful that not everyone gets the same. Obviously I'm hopeful we'll be lucky and it'll work first time, but there's definitely less pressure knowing it's not our only shot. Thanks for all the tips, I'm sure they'll come in useful over the coming weeks!

Well I got very little sleep last night as I couldn't stop fretting about this injection then actually had a bit of a cry this morning, I think I'd built it up so much that I'd got myself into a real panic over it. It took a few attempts ( there's something in your brain that just goes no, you really don't want to stab that sharp needle into you! ) but it wasn't as bad as I thought, not painful really, just a bit itchy and irritated afterwards. Now I've got the first one out of the way and know what to expect I think it'll be a bit easier.

For you ladies that have down regulated, how long did it take before you started getting all the lovely symptoms? I'm guessing a few days?

Hi girls, I'm afraid I haven't been following the thread since I last posted but it seems that things are mostly going well?

I've had my consultant appointment for IUI and the consultant cant seem to understand why I was there - my tests are all clear and I already have a little girl. He recommended a high protein, low carb diet. And also omega 3, vit a b c d e, and acupuncture.

I had my first acupuncture session last Monday, got my second one in about an hour and I'm looking forward to it. Although, according to her, nearly all my symptoms are a problem so she's got some fixing to do!

I'm giving myself about 6 -8 weeks to get my body ready with the diet and acupuncture and vits and then starting IUI mid April. VERY EXCITED!

Although my husband just wants to go straight for the IVF cos it has better chances - is IVF a lot worse than IUI? I mean with the drugs and hormones and things? I really don't want to be a dragon to my daughter.

    Morning all!

Quick question (and an excuse to bump us back up from page 4!), anyone else been on Metformin and got mega headaches with them?

I've been having one a day since Friday, due to bump it up to two tomorrow but the last couple of days I've got an absolute git of a headache that will not shift. Just wondering if it might be the tablets or just work stress?

lucy - IVF and IUI are very different imho. Try the IUI, it's a LOT less hassle, less invasive, less cost (not sure if you're paying). Definitely worth trying it first. Good luck!

TamVilla - metformin is evil in every way possible! Headaches, stomach ache, awful ahem toilet issues :p. Could be nothing to do with the met of course but personally I blamed it for everything :rotfl:. Lots of water, get some rest - hope it goes soon x.
  • chocoholic - glad your first jab went well! The first one is always the worst but after that it's not nearly so bad :) Are you on down regulation injections or stimming injections? I had the DR sniffer and found that it took a week or so before I spotted any symptoms - although I didn't have a huge amount of them, tiredness, a bit of a headache and the odd hot flush was all I had.

lucy - that's exciting about starting your IUI, not sure what drugs are involved though sorry, hopefully someone else will be able to help?

Hugs and crème eggs (or mini eggs) to you all xxxxx
  • Wow, we all had the same idea about bumping the thread back up! :)

Thanks for the good news tea, lol. Will carry on being a bear with a sore head for a bit and using the tablets as an excuse! Good point about the water, will try and drink a bit more.

Hope everyone is ok today? Friday tomorrow, weekend can't come quick enough!

Sorry Tam :D to be fair, most people found it settled down pretty quickly (I remember reading a LOT of reviews lol). It just really didn't agree with me. I was on it for about 18 months and genuinely cried with relief when I stopped it. I tried it again a few months back as AF is even more erratic than ever - lasted about a week then couldn't hack it.

But as I say, most people (if they get side effects at all) say they ease off within a few days. Have everything crossed you're feeling better soon x.

I love acupuncture, I had it for about 2 years (For migraines not fertility) and it really works. Stopped doing it about 8 months ago although might go back to it to help with fertility as I know he does do that.
I have been having reflexology for fertility over the last 2 months, i definitely have been feeling more relaxed and she has been giving me some things to do on my hand in between (pause to do them whilst I remember :-))
We have been trying for about 1 1/2 yrs and are waiting for a referral to the fertility clinic. Although have been having abdominal pain the last 2 months but just thought it was my body messing with me. Went to the docs today and have been referred for an Ultrasound. Angry an myself for not noticing the symptoms sooner! Think its an ovarian cyct, Don't know what it means really, I am trying to avoid thinking the worst!
Recently married and loving it x
