I have had some good news today that I wanted to share with you, we are going through the adoption process and were approved to adopt at an approval panel meeting in November 2014. Since approval we have been trying to find the right child for us and today, fingers crossed, we may have found him. We met with his social workers and our social worker last week to find out more about him. Today we confirmed that we want to proceed with him and his social workers confirmed that they also want to proceed with us! There is still a way to go yet, more meetings and then eventually a matching panel meeting and if approved at that panel, then it will be more certain. Feeling happy right now :)

Wow Primmer, that's amazingly good news! I'm really pleased for you and I imagine it must be such a relief the end is (sort of) in sight :T :j

That is fantastic news Primmer!!! I am so pleased for you.

Things are going to go weird here now and take some adapting. OH goes on nights from Friday, it makes me worried as he works such long hours and I hardly see him anymore, let alone from this weekend. I am scared that it will affect us in a bad way, but this job provides us with enough of a wage to keep options open for us.
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

  • Aah Primmer, that's fab news :j

I've got a week off this week, but no holiday for me. Husband and pup have both had an operation this week so it's Nurse TamVilla80 reporting for duty.

Appointment at the fertility clinic on Thursday, so really should lay off the tea and biscuits for a few days, but it's hard when we are in the house all day. Also got to explain that we can't do our '1 day on, 1 day off' as told, and I'm hoping this hasn't caused oh's hernia, haha

Really sorry to hear about your father Gelly x

Fantastic news on the adoption Primmer! Will be keeping everything crossed for you that it all goes smoothly.

Pinkteapot I replied to your earlier post but it looks as though I forgot to post it, sorry. How are you feeling now? When is AF due?

I finally got around to chasing up my consultant and he had indeed forgotten to refer my for my HSG and ultrasound, but I have now had everything through. He also threw in a Chlamydia test, obviously he thought this might be some kind of compensation :rotfl:

Could I pick the brains of anyone who has had a HSG? I have been told to ring the hospital on the first day of AF so they can book me in, but forgot to ask what day they actually book me in for - presumably it is a certain number of days later? Just thinking about work and how to explain it, as they can't do it at the local hospital so I will need half a day off to get it done, but I'm pretty regular so should be able to work it out I think.

    Hope that ramble made sense!

Shrimpy, with regards to dates for an HSG, every hospital has their own procedure so recommended dates may vary slightly. My local hospital wanted to do mine between days 9-16(!) totally messing up one whole month, while my friend had hers done at the hospital in the next town and they would do it only up to day 10, but once AF had finished.

If you have the choice, and it fits in with work, try and have it done in the afternoon, I found it uncomfortable and was very glad I didn't have to go back to work afterwards, just onto the sofa with a hot water bottle! Good luck xx

I can't remember when my HSG was scheduled for, but I told work I was going to the hospital for some tests for a gynae issue. That generally stopped any questions.

Thanks ladies, I know they will be fine with me having the time off, I just know my boss is worried about me as I have had various hospital appointments. He always asks if I'm ok but never questions me about what they are for - recently he has started to be quite concerned I think but I have also had quite a few appointments to do with my teeth as well (another story!) I was in two minds about whether to tell him but my ultrasound appt came through for a Sat so now it is only the HSG I need to book off. His wife is pg too so don't want to make things weird. Hope you're both doing ok xx

  • Many congratulations Primer :beer::D

Fifth round of Clomid now, actually getting a bit worried, only one more months worth after this then I have to wait until June to see the specialist again. I'm beginning to heartly dislike all this now. :o
But just ignore me, I was up at 5 passing a gallstone and have just killed myself at the gym.

    Hi all :o

Well, AF is in full flow, so false alarm there. Don't know what was going on but I just had the strongest feeling that BDing had worked! Ah well.

I've been trying not to think about TTC so much for the last couple of months so have been a bit absent. Following the ICSI BFN in September, I really struggled and by Christmas was, well, depressed and anxious if I'm really honest. I was eating rubbish and not bothering to exercise because I felt too low to bother, but that only made things worse because exercise lifts my mood. Downward spiral.

Had a long break from work over Christmas and New Year. Something clicked and I wanted to sort myself out. Since New Year I have:

    1. Lost 10lbs of the weight I gained during and after treatment. BMI back down from 24.1 to 22.5. Got 6lbs to go and then I'll be back at 21.6 - where I was prior to treatment.

    2. Been running and cycling (bicycling, not IVFing!) and regained my ability to run 5k without stopping. :D

    3. Started selling homemade cards, and making them is really relaxing. I would love to show you guys my Etsy shop but I won't post it here as it has my name/address/photo! PM me if you're curious and I'll send you the link if I recognise your username from here. :)

Still feel like the TTC thing is there, lurking under the surface, ready to make me miserable at any time, but getting back on an even keel. :)

In late Jan we had our follow-up at the clinic. I'm really reluctant to do a second cycle as the drugs affected my mental state so badly, and I just struggle with the absolute lottery and heartache/ecstasy of the outcome - there's no middle ground! I don't think I'm strong enough to go through it again. We have a bit of time to decide. We'd have to do our second round by August to keep this round of NHS funding that we have. If we don't, we can still access NHS funding for our remaining cycle in the future but only if the funding rules haven't changed in our area by that point.

Congratulations again to all with good news recently - I have been reading if not posting. :) Virtual hugs to those that need them and good luck to everyone with upcoming treatment or general BDing! x
