Congrats on being PUPO, smookle!! :D Is this your first cycle? (apologies - I've forgotten :o).

Lisa, you follie machine, you! I had loads of follies (18 IIRC) too but was totally spaced for EC. I was REALLY nervous so they'd given me valium to take the night before and the morning of, and they gave me an extra high dose of sedative. And I had gas and air!

DH said he could tell I had extra sedative because I was white as a sheet and barely conscious when I came out, whereas other women coming out were pretty normal-looking. :rotfl:

Thanks Pink! What is PUPO? I've had a round previously but it never got as far as EC as only produced 2 follies. Have had 3 IUI though! Really wished I'd opted for sedation...! Reckon being oblivious to what was happening would have made the whole thing much better!

Out of curiosity...has anyone ever experienced something like 'come down' from the stimming injections?

    Pregnant until proven otherwise :-)
I'm useless at EC, hence the lorazepam (assuming that's a bit like Valium) really helps me get through it. Wish they did GA but they don't offer it.
With my first couple of rounds back when I was young and spritely I got over 20 eggs a couple of times but quality was shocking and only got about 3 or 4 fertilised. But that seems to have been a combination of having SSR sperm that needed ICSI and a multitude of issues with my blood/cells.
This is standard IVF (albeit frozen quarantined sperm) and short protocol with steroids for issues so I'm hoping hard to get maybe 2 blasts out of it. But who knows til we get there, I have terrible AMH and a few autoimmune issues (hence the surrogacy) so I'm not counting any kind of poultry yet!
EC confirmed for 8am Monday morning, first on the list, figure they want to get the tricky one done and dusted!
Think I'm going to bed x

Hey all. Congrats Gelly and good luck Smookle

I have a work baby shower tomorrow and I am probably going to be starting my last period before ivf. Don't want anyone to ask the dreaded 'so when are you having kids?'. Think I'll just say hopefully in the future.

    Morning all
wonder if you can help me.
I was talking to my boss about the ivf and having to take time off for it which she is fine about. None of my work colleagues know about me having this treatment but people may start to notice and ask. Just wondering how the other ladies who went through ivf coped with this.
    thanks

  • Skaps, that question was the bain of my existence for so many years...especially when everyone else was popping them out left right and centre! In the end I started saying to people I was waiting to start ivf which shut them up pretty quickly but that's a completely personal choice. They've stopped harassing me with the 'whens' but now you do tend to get a bit of a pity look when they start chatting about kids. As for work, my boss knows everything including timings because she needed too but as far as my colleges are aware I'm off on annual leave this week. When I go back I will have 'hurt my back' so I don't over do the manual handling but i would probably make it public after the 7 week scan because of the nature if my job. The injections I needed to do at work I just snuck off to the loo at the relevant time but that was cos I do shift work so you may not need to do that. Any other symptoms were covered by the phrase "I think i must be coming down with something" which is believable for the time of year! Good luck today at the baby shower!

Thanks. Am hoping no one will ask if they notice I'm not here on days when I have to go to the hospital. Should only be 5 times but as they will be within a week of each other or more it will be difficult.
My boss has been great. I just don't know whether I want others to know about ivf yet.
