Just caught up with the thread, Pickle, I'm thinking of you and sending lots of hugs your way : ( Have been thinking about you every day since your test day on thursday, and was hoping to come back to find good news. The universe is evil.

    Congratulations Jazz!

So I'm day 21 tomorrow and meant to start down regulating but the IVF clinic phoned me on Friday with all my appointment dates and the EC week is right before a big assessment that I would really rather not reschedule. I've phoned them today asking if they could delay my egg collection for a week or two. Does that mean they may want to make me wait for my next period and start then instead (EC would be extremely close to Xmas if they do) or do you think they will just make me down reg for longer? I'm using Busrelin and Northisterone to start with, then stimming with Gonal F 300u if that helps at all? I'm desperate to get pregnant but I don't want this whole process to get in the way of my life AGAIN! The clinic seemed to suggest that there wouldn't be any surgical slots for EC till beginning of December so for them to spring it on my 3 weeks early is both fantastic and irritating at the same time.

Also, how long do people usually have off for EC and ET? I work 12 hours shifts and am on my feet most of the day and have a very manual job, so I've planned to take one week off for the procedures but would you guys recommend taking longer?

    Sorry for the long post!

Hey all had my appointment today at Barts. It's now official that it's 'unexplained infertility'. Going to start IVF in December so this cycle is the last cycle of trying naturally.

Sorry to hear the news Pickle.

    Congrats Jazz

Hello ladies - so much news, so little access to a laptop reply!

Pickle - so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you

Smookle - good luck with your next round, sorry I can't be of help with your technical queries.

laura sorry to hear about your granddad - hope you and your oh are looking after each other.

lisa massive good luck for this round - everything crossed for you

skaps I hope that this month is your month, if not, best of luck for December.

primmer that is completely outrageous. It is so unfair that the whole process is delayed for things totally beyond your control. Are you assessed by a LA? If so, are they still looking at matches for you (they should be)? If you don't feel like complaining now, make sure you do at the end as you don't want any other potential adopters to have to go through the same thing for you.

Jazz - very exciting! Many congratulations!

In terms of my journey, our appointment was precise and to the point - if my FSH is right next cycle then I will go to three rounds of ovulation introduction by injections, if it is too high, then straight to IVF. So things are moving again, hopefully in the right direction. This journey is just so exhausting.

As for candy crush... I am on a shamefully high level, it is actually embarrassing.

Spoke to the clinic today and they were really helpful! They've changed my EC week to the 8th December instead, and fiddled around with my regime a little so that it all works out. Originally they were considering giving me 5 weeks of Busrelin (!) but they're switching me to a short protocol instead so it works out better both ways! Not as long on the drugs and a slight delay to accommodate my assessment! Only downside is that I think I would be doing my PG test on Xmas day...this could be the best or the worst Christmas ever depending on which way the test goes...

Smookle, would it maybe be possible to do your test on Christmas Eve? That way if it doesn't work, (which of course it will), you're less disappointed on Christmas day and will be able to have Christmas drinks.

Bad times for me, there are 5 babies due to friends and family within the next couple of weeks and I'm struggling with it. Ended up having another discussion with DH in which he suggested splitting up so I could have children with someone else, but of course I said no to that one. I told him I felt it wasn't fair that his stopping point becomes our stopping point with no discussion, and have said that I don't want adoption taken off the table. I'm not ready to start the process yet, but not willing to write it off as an option.

Primmer, I'm sorry about the delay but I think that's pretty common with social workers - from what I've read elsewhere they seem to go out of their way to screw up the process. I will be watching your progress and keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  • Hugs pickle, that sounds like an utterly carpy situation. Sending lots of virtual hugs and chocolate your way xx

tea - To start off with and teach myself, I knitted some well, I suppose "crutch warmers" would be the best way of describing them (pics over on my blog http://duck-in-a-dress.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/knitting-for-my-extra-legs.html)
Then I knitted a scarf following the instructions on the back of a packet of wool from B&M and also made some long fingerless glove/arm-warmer thingies. I'm quite liking the whole knitting thing - very therapeutic! :p xx

jazz - congrats! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months. xx

lisawood - very exciting news! Fingers crossed it all goes well for you and I've popped you up at the top in the 'cycles ongoing' bit - no matter whether it's a surrogate or not, you're still entitled to be up the top :) xx

Primmer - thanks for the wishes and that's rubbish news about your report and panel! You would have thought they'd be able to get it done properly, hope the revised version ends up being fab. xx

lauraw - glad your HSG is clear but so sorry to hear about your grandpa. Take care of yourself and your other half xx

GV - yay and double yay for being PUPO! :j xx

Smookle - sounds like that's both good and bad! Great that they were able to change your dates but boo hiss about the test date. I agree with code, Christmas Eve would be better than Christmas Day. If it works, you've got something to celebrate and if it doesn't work, maybe the chaos of the day will take your mind off it? (empty words I know, there's nothing that'll really take your mind off it but if I keep saying it, perhaps it might work... The power of "positive thinking" and all that jazz :rotfl:) xx

AFM - potentially this time next week I might well be plaster cast free which makes me feel a bit :j and a bit  Then it'll be a slow (and probably painful) process of learning to use my ankle and walk again. Ah well, something to tell the grandkids I suppose... ;)
