The Trials & Tribulations of Trying to Conceive when its just not happening (12m+)

Shrimpy, it took us about 3 - 4 months from GP referral to specialist appointment. At the appointment they did dildocam and took a full history from both of us. At that point we were basically put on the IVF list. They estimate that you are on the list for approx 8 months to a year.
We're not too bothered about the long wait as we're hoping it might happen naturally in the meantime.
I'm sure it varies depending on where you live though.0 -
Feeling fine except for EC nerves. Got one 19mm follie and lots at 10-12mm but no symptoms/side-effects yet. Not sure how much they ramp up at the end?
I suspect Monday is more likely than Friday, but really hoping for Friday as it's better for us.0 -
shrimpy - different NHS areas vary. We saw the consultant about 4-5 months after referral from GP. Tests were all clear so dubbed unexplained infertility. Was made to do three months on Clomid (though NICE now say not to use it for unexplained). We then had to wait. Here, consultant won't do an IVF referral until you've been trying for three years. At that point we got referred for IVF but then got in straight away - no waiting time.0

Hey pink feeling excited for you!! Hope it goes well over the next few days.
Hugs for the party code. Yesterday, my mil, who experienced infertility herself said, well I do hope it gets sorted soon as it would be a shame if I only have one grandchild. Argh!
shrimps once I had all the tests, including my oh having his test, we got an appointment within 10 weeks of referral. Two appointments later we got 6months of clomid which made me ovulate but sadly I'm still not pregnant. We go back for review in October when I anticipate they'll want to repeat some of the tests then ivf for us too... You have to have been trying for 3 years for ivf in my area too, so it will be January at the earliest.
I'm being increasingly open with people about the ttc thing. It doesn't stop people saying hurtful things by accident, but it does stop the repeated questions about it.
Happy rainy Monday to all.0 -

I've got proper Sunday night feeling (even though it's Monday) Back to work tomorrow after 10days off, I'm bored of sitting on the sofa but still feel a bit nurgh and achy.
Really need to stop being a grump but I know all I'm going to get tomorrow is 'when I had that done, I was fine after 3days' When really I will just want to say 'sod off, it's not the same as what I've had done, and I still feel crappy after a week, alright?!'
Sorry for the rant but think oh is as sick of listening to my moaning as I am sick of having tummy ache and feeling like my belly button is going to unravel (I can see the stitches sticking out, it's just weird)!
Hope everyone had a nice wet bank holiday Monday0 -
Hi everyone
I phoned for an appointment with my doctor this morning. They made me an appointment for next week and put me on the cancelation list incase an appointment became available at short notice. They phoned back an hour later with a cancellation for today! I'm just back from my appointment. I went armed with info (as suggested, thanks guys) and I have some blood tests booked to measure progesterone levels to check I am actually ovulating. Had a long chat with my doctor, I understand things a bit better now. I had a scan back in March and phoned the surgery for the results. I was told the scans were clear and no treatment was required. It turns out I have some cysts on my ovaries. The doctor doesn't think they require treatment though, and when I get the results of my blood test, she is going to refer myself and OH to the nearest fertility clinic which is 70 miles away from where we live.
I thought I would feel really anxious, obviously nothing is going to happen quickly in our fertility journey but I actually feel really calm now :-)0 -

Hi, is there room for one more?
I feel a bit in limbo at the moment, and not sure whether I should post on here or the TTC thread- so am going to post on both for a little while if thats ok.
So, I came off my pill a year ago and we have been trying ever since, but I have really irregular cycles- apart from my normal pill af I have had cycles of 100 days, 45 days, 170 days and am currently cd 45 (plus pre pill were yearlys!!). I have had a scan and blood tests and have an appointment next Monday to get my results. The lady doing my scan could see things would indicate pcos but I need to wait and see what the blood tests come back as.
So, can anyone give me any advice on what kind of questions I should go ready with when I see my GP?0
