Welcome Thinkpink. I think what treatment you get depends on where you live. In my case they did my Day 21 bloods and then wouldn't do any further testing until my oh had his tests done. That seemed pretty fair to me!
Me too. It's also the only reason DH agreed to have the SA, because he didn't think there was a problem but wanted me to check out my long cycles.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

One last thing, *tries to think of the right phrasing* if you have PCOS then its a good chance that you MIGHT be a teeny bit overweight, be prepared for a bit of a lecture in that regards from the Dr. (*hopes you aren't offended now!*).
[/QUOTE]
I have the opposite, am told I am at the lower end of my ideal BMI, NOT usual for PCOS apparently.
However, I do have the yeti woman curse, have to shave my legs every day in the summer, and have more hair on my arms than OH
Off to the in-laws for tea tonight. OH thinks we should tell them that we are ttc and are waiting to see a specialist. I am all for waiting until we can tell them a bit more ie put it off for a few more weeks! I understand why OH wants to tell them , as my parents have known for a while, but as his SA has come back OK and the issues lies with me, I kinda don't want to shout about it too much, especially as his mum is a bit of a hypochondriac who will automatically assume the worst  Any suggestions, I don't want to upset OH, need to be in his good books this week0 -
Hi, is there room for one more?
I feel a bit in limbo at the moment, and not sure whether I should post on here or the TTC thread- so am going to post on both for a little while if thats ok.
So, I came off my pill a year ago and we have been trying ever since, but I have really irregular cycles- apart from my normal pill af I have had cycles of 100 days, 45 days, 170 days and am currently cd 45 (plus pre pill were yearlys!!). I have had a scan and blood tests and have an appointment next Monday to get my results. The lady doing my scan could see things would indicate pcos but I need to wait and see what the blood tests come back as.
So, can anyone give me any advice on what kind of questions I should go ready with when I see my GP?
hi thinkpink
I have lurked on this board before but never posted, hope no one minds me jumping in here! A few years ago we had difficulty concieving, a horrendous experience, and I really feel for everyone going through it. We got through it in the end and are parents but I will never forget how bleak it felt with trying.
I also had cycles like yours - some years I would have 2/3 af, another year 10 then back to 3 again. I was diagnosed with PCOS then undiagnosed, then diagnosed etc etc
For the PCOS (if that's what they say) I would ask how many cysts (roughly), are they large/small, would they be considered a barrier to concieving, and if so how much? Ask for diet/exercise/vitamin etc recommendations and follow them to the letter so you can go back and say yes I have done all this. Ask for a retest in 6 months to see if anything has changed. Don't let anyone fob you off with 'wait and see'. Ask for a proper plan of action, i.e try naturally for another xxx months then move on to other methods/treatments.
Also as others have said get your OH checked - good to know what you're working with
If you want to know more how we got through the whole process feel free to message me
hope that's of some use!MFW 2015 so far..... £1808.702014 - £1451 2013 - £1600 2012 - £4145 2011 - £5715 2010 - £3258:)

Thank you everyone so much for your replies, its so useful to get an idea of the kind of questions to ask and also start getting an idea of the kind of things to expect.
I am overweight, but I am working on that!! By BMI was just over 30, but I have managed to get it under and have lost about 11lb now, and will continue with the weight loss. When I went to the GP he didn't seem too worried but did advise it may help to lose some weight- but I don't think he gave me a lecture as I said I was working on it.
My scan was the dildocam, she did try a normal scan but said she could see some but wanted a proper look.
Did anyones partners take a little bit of convincing to go for a SA?0 -
EC on Friday! :eek:0

Yay pink teapot! What time is your trigger tonight?
How did your scratch go, Picklekin? Hope it wasn't too bad. I don't know anything about DRing as I've always been on the short protocol. How long do you do that for?
Hi to the new ladies and to all the older ones too
I had my baseline scan today, my lining is a bit thick as it needs to be less than 5mm and I'm 4.9mmut I will likely get my AF tomorrow as I usually start on the Thursday after stopping the Norethisterone on the Sunday. This time I've been given Gonal F, previous two cycles I've been on Menopur. It looks much easier to use though as no mixing involved, just a pen like the Ovidrelle. Has anyone had their meds changed? Start Buserelin tomorrow so exciting times ahead.
Oh someone (can't remember who as a couple of pages back) mentioned acupuncture, I've been having it this cycle and I've found it really relaxing, even falling asleep during it. I would def recommend it and it's advised to start at least 3 months to get the full benefit of it. My acupuncturist said he has had a good year with ladies getting pregnant. He has had 4 over 40 and they haven't been ivf ladies either. Hoping his good luck continuesxx

Not had meds changed but I used Gonal-F and it's so easy and completely painless!
Ovitrelle trigger in 15 mins...
Re bloating, the last three evenings I've ballooned after jabbing but it's gone down again by morning, so not really suffered at all. But they counted 21 follies!0 -

What exactly is he doing in your sessions?

Pink teapot :rotfl:
Hi ThinkPink! I am also about to be referred but no experience of PCOS sorry. My OH needed a little nudging but more logistically, ie how/when he was going to be able to get to the hospital as it didn't open til 9, etc so he couldn't pop in before work - that kind of thing. Luckily he was happy enough to do it, I don't think he dared complain knowing the poking and prodding I have undergone/still got ahead!
Hope you have a fab time away FP!
Hope your scratch went ok today Picklekin - don't really know what it involves but it sounds painful...
