Oh, i'm so pleased for T2D! *gentle hugs if your lurking*

Welcome ThinkPink, you're very welcome. At one point I posted on both boards but finally just use this one now, I think that's fairly normal. I'll come up with some questions when I'm not posting in a rush. :)

Hi, is there room for one more?

I feel a bit in limbo at the moment, and not sure whether I should post on here or the TTC thread- so am going to post on both for a little while if thats ok.

So, I came off my pill a year ago and we have been trying ever since, but I have really irregular cycles- apart from my normal pill af I have had cycles of 100 days, 45 days, 170 days and am currently cd 45 (plus pre pill were yearlys!!). I have had a scan and blood tests and have an appointment next Monday to get my results. The lady doing my scan could see things would indicate pcos but I need to wait and see what the blood tests come back as.

So, can anyone give me any advice on what kind of questions I should go ready with when I see my GP?

    Hi thinkpink
I don't really have any advice as I'm all new to this too. The ladies on here have been so kind and helpful to me, I'm sure someone will be on soon with some good advice for you.

Hi ThinkPink. Welcome. It's kind of hard to know what to ask without knowing what your test results will be. I'd be inclined to ask what the next steps are, what's offered fertility help wise in your local area (as it's different everywhere) and what treatments they recommend if you do have pcos.

Thank you. It's totally surreal! Can't believe how lucky we are. He is small but perfect and getting stronger by the minute. It's been a crazy 24 hours, a crazy year!

Lots of love to you all. I'll put a sneaky picture on the pregnancy threads soon.

    Lovely news T2D :j

ThinkPink, as you've already had the blood tests and scan (what sort of scan was it, just a lookse with the famous dildocam?) it will really depend on what the results are. Did your OH have his "sample" test done too? Depending on the type of person you are you might want to take a little notepad and ask for the actual test result numbers, I wish I'd done this as I like to have all the info!

As code says it would be good to know what the fertility treatment available in your area is from the getgo, IVF etc may still be a world away but its again good to have the info then no shocks (I was always assuming I'd get a funded cycle as a fall back until I found Berkshire is..*insert rude word*).

The next step, even if PCOS, is probably a course of Clomid, a drug that helps promote ovulation. The affects of this vary from person to person, I had a few headaches and was a bit grumpy at first but was mostly fine, but some ladies have suffered, but take it one day at a time.

Try not to feel intimidated and ask as many questions as you want to the Dr, some try and rush you through because they think it will "just happen anway". One last thing, *tries to think of the right phrasing* if you have PCOS then its a good chance that you MIGHT be a teeny bit overweight, be prepared for a bit of a lecture in that regards from the Dr. (*hopes you aren't offended now!*).

Hope that helps for a start.
  • pink - I felt quite bloated by the end, couldn't wear anything tight over my stomach or eat huge meals, that sort of thing. I remember the last few injections being a bit like sticking a needle into a balloon!

Scottie - well done on the appointment! I found that I felt a lot calmer once everything was in the hands of medical people. It's almost like you have more control that way than just trying naturally.

Ahh fabulous news time2deal! Very well deserved after everything you've been through, enjoy the next 18 years! :p
(think there should be some other graduates due soon as well?)

Hello to ThinkPink - sorry you find yourself here but feel free to ask away! Pickle is right as well, if they suspect PCOS, they'll always play the overweight card.
I have PCOS and the local GP told me if I lost another stone (my BMI was 31) I'd be upduffed within a year. Well, I lost a stone and a half but that was June 2012 and yup, still no baby :o
Any good GP will order tests for your OH as well though at the same time - that was our problem, the GP lady meant well when she said it but none of us had any idea at the time how appallingly bad DH's SA would be!

My advice would be the same as pickle and code's - ask what they offer in your area and how the process will work, plus how long it will take (the time to get a referral or if there's an IVF waiting list). Also ask about having your OH tested as well - without wanting to sound all negative, it could be that there's more than one reason you're not conceiving.

Also pickle, is it your endo scratch and DR-ing today? Good luck if it is and hope it's not too painful xx

(also AFM, I'm off to get muddy at the Great Dorset Steam Fair with a load of vintage lorries and steam engines for the rest of the week so I'll be back to update the lists and stuff Sunday evening :) )

Yes FP its Scratch and DR day today, started well as I can't remember if its one or two sniffs of the spray, I did one and asked the clinic to call me back, its now 10 and they haven't bothered yet!

I'm glad its finally here and things are happening :)
  • Good luck Picklekin. It's a good feeling when something is actually happening.

Welcome Thinkpink. I think what treatment you get depends on where you live. In my case they did my Day 21 bloods and then wouldn't do any further testing until my oh had his tests done. That seemed pretty fair to me!
