    Morning all,

So sad at the moment, last Monday DH father passed away suddenly on holiday in Spain... he fell and hit his head, hadn't been ill or anything. We rushed out on the first flight we could to be with his Mum, we have been living a nightmare.

On a TTC front, it has been tricky, as I am on my IVF injections. I was due for my first baseline scan on the Wednesday, but I had to cancel as I was still abroad, but the clinic were great and told me to carry on injecting and get in touch when I get back. We got back early hours on the Friday and they fitted me in same day and I started my stimulation injections on Saturday just gone.

On top of all this my DH has a rental property that we need to sell (it is in negative equity and we just wanted to sell to reduce hassle for if/when the baby comes) and the tenants have absolutely trashed the house. DH two best friends have been around to change the locks and secure the place but I haven't told DH yet as he is still in bits arranging the funeral. I'm so heartbroken over everything.

Life is tough at the moment, but I am trying to stay positive as hopefully we will have some good news on the IVF front soon.

    Hugs to everyone

Could you do some gentle swimming? Low impact, but relaxing (if you like that sort of thing!)

ETA: sorry, cross posted with you danielley. Am so sorry to hear about your FIL. Big hugs xx.

Thanks tea - I'd read that swimming (not too fast!) is OK. I'm not normally a swimmer but I might well do that too, again, if I'm feeling up to it. I know how much the cycle can affect you physically, so I'll just play it all by ear. :)

danielley - how absolutely awful. I am so sorry for your loss. I really hate the world sometimes - why do things happen with the worst possible timing? I know this has probably knocked the IVF slightly down your priority list, but I'm glad you've managed to keep the cycle going. Just take each day as it comes. :(

Oh danielley, so sorry to hear about your FIL *hugs* I'm glad the clinic are being good about it.

Pink, cycling isn't really impact is it, but I guess you'd not want to take ANY risks.. I'll have to stop my diet (5/2) and stop most exercise too.. Makes me wonder if I've ever shaken anything loose before by exercising, but you can't not ever can you (I am trying to lose a stone before my best friends wedding but its not gonna happen!)? And yes, its our (keep making myself say OUR not MY, even though I have all the crappy bits :p) first cycle.

Its half way through the morning and you've not told us your test results yet!!

Morning love. I caved and tested last night and BFN. Have just started spotting, so CD1 tomorrow I suspect. Weirdly, I feel better now. Calmer anyway. I'm so bad with uncertainty that even the outcome I don't want is better than not knowing! Now I can plan and prepare. :)

Next step - call the clinic tomorrow and say we want to book in for this cycle. They may put us off a month if they're really busy but that's rare apparently.

Cycling isn't too high impact, but advice I read said gentle exercise that doesn't get your heart rate above 140bpm. I normally aim to cycle at 165-170bpm. I could of course just slow down! But I think I'll feel like not wanting to do anything that could harm our chances, so I'll be good and stick to walking. :)

I'm dieting again too ATM. I lost two stone before our wedding a few years ago and roughly maintained weight since. Before our holiday, six lbs had crept back on and then another six on holiday (despite burning a couple of thousand a day climbing mountains!). So, best part of a stone above goal weight again. I know lots of people on 5/2 - so impressed! I couldn't cope with the 2 days. :o I use MyFitnessPal and eat 1,200 cals a day when losing weight (plus extra for any I burn with exercise).

Hoping to shift a chunk before treatment starts. It's probably OK to stay on lower cals during down-regging, but I'll eat normal cals once stimming starts as I know my body needs energy to grow lots of eggs. :) Of course if down-regging makes me feel miserable I'll reach for the chocolate and forget the diet till after the cycle!

When's the wedding you want to lose weight for?

Awww I'm sorry you got a BFP :( I hoped you were off celebrating!

The wedding is in August, it's never gonna happen but every pound helps! I use MFP too and go to the gym several times a week and nearly killed myself at body pump last week! I'm trying to do some lifting but that section of the gym scares me rotten... I'm not technically overweight but two people in a month asked me if I'm pregnant as I put all weight on my tum and it's to ironic to bare!

For my IVF I might try putting my MFP up to 1800 just to keep an eye on what I'm eating and try and eat my 7 a day (if that's even possible!)

I'm planning the same sort of approach - I've found in the past that about 1,700 per day works for me for maintenance (plus eating exercise ones, as I do when losing weight). Certainly for stimming onwards I'll eat this much. In down-reg I'll see how I feel.

Have read that lots of water and fruit and veg can help with the side effects of treatment. I have lots of these anyway so will just up it a bit. Cutting caffeine is also recommended. I only have 2 or 3 cups of tea during the day but not sure I'll be able to drop those - certainly not my first-thing-in-the-morning one! I'll try decaf tea bags but not convinced. ;)

Can't believe people have asked if you're pg! I wouldn't dare ask someone unless they were about to drop for fear of them just having put on a little weight!

I wished them a painful toe stubbing that's for sure!!

I already quit caffeine, took me a while but now decaf tea tastes just fine :)

You can also wish them an accidental treading on Lego in bare feet if they've got kids. ;)

Congrats on giving up caffeine! I have a lot less than I used to but have never managed to cut it out completely. Maybe this will be the kick I need. :)
