Vesper - the first time we saw the consultant, we were told that DHs count was awful, very small and what there was, had awful motility. He had to do another one and I put him on some vitamins (fertility blend), Vitamin C and Zinc. His next count was much improved and that was when we were labelled unexplained.
I'm not saying that vitamins are the be all and end all, but they can definitely help if that is the issue - it only takes one after all!

Hiya can i ask - for those of you who have tried IVF when you go to collect your drugs from the hospital pharmacy (NHS) how much is the standard prescription cost?? Just that I'm exempt from prescription drugs and Im not sure that will cover it. Obviously I don't mind paying as its NHS free but just so I can go prepared…

I would assume standard prescription charges per item (per box or whatever) but I don't recall, its been about 8 years since we had our NHS tries.
These days I have to fork out around £3k to the drugs company each cycle!

    Hope someone else can advise.
    Good luck

Can you ask your clinic, emmaj30? It must vary by area. We're NHS funded but "being done" at a clinic that also treats private clients. They said that when we start our cycle, they'll send us a huge box of drugs by courier! Didn't mention a charge and I didn't even think to ask. I pay for prescriptions normally.

emmaj it depends on your funding. Some trusts fund the IVF, and you pay prescription rates for the drugs (Tea lover was like this) and others include the drugs in the funding. I didn't pay anything for mine, but I know some of the ladies here arranged prescription cards in advance, as it caps how much you pay for all the prescriptions.

Thanks for you advice. Will ask when I get there. I have just sent off for my exemption card. I have under active thyroid so have never paid for prescriptions..:j

    Hi all
I'm feeling a bit better today, we've told both sets of parents what has happened and they were both positive about the fact that we had actually managed to get pregnant in the first place.
I've had today off work, so not done a lot, which is nice for a change! The EPU phoned again this morning with my blood test results and apparently they are good, at about 2300, but I googled what they should be (I awful for googling things) and apparently they should be about 20000 by the time you get to 7 weeks....so it looks like they've either tailed off, dropped or never got high enough in the first place.
I now have to go for a scan on Sunday to see what's happening.
I just want to be left alone now.... :/
