I think the OP needs to realise that there is a big gap between being negligent and falling below regulatory standards sufficient to justify disciplinary action. Believe it or not professionals of all types make mistakes: lawyers, surveyors, accountants, doctors and dare I say it Vets. I doubt that there is a single professional of any type who hand on heart can claim never to have made a mistake. Most of the time it does not cause significant harm or damage. In your case it did, that's unfortunate but such is life. An error of judgment of itself is insufficient justification to be disciplining people let along striking them off - otherwise there would be virtually no-one left practising in any profession. If actions were deliberate, reckless or formed a pattern of behaviour it might be different, in this case, there is no evidence that it was.
The Vets regulator has looked at it and is now moving on - and so should you.
It doesn't mean you don't have a claim in the civil courts for damages for negligence. I don't know where you've got with that but if what you say is right then you should get back the cost of treatment, cost of a replacement dog, and with a following wind some compensation for distress.0 -
Hachette
I have read your previous thread (now on the 'pet' board) but have not commented so far.
This thread may be a vent to you but to post on here - when your original thread has been moved to another board - is not keeping continuity with the content of the total issue you have with the loss of your pet and the vet who treated him.
Can you not see that?
You had quite bit of sympathy when your thread was moved to the 'Pets' board.
I have to wonder if, by starting this new thread on the 'Vent' board, you are actually looking for confrontation about the actions you are taking.
I hope the board guide will merge this thread - and any others that you start - with the original thread.0 -

Completely this.
Hachette what you want would result in no vets, doctors, police, nurses, firemen etc. There'd be someone out there wanting each one of them sacked for some specific mistake relative to them or they would never start the work if they knew as soon as they start trying to help whatever ever people/animals their work involves someone within minutes wants them sacked, not much of a motive to go into a profession is it!0 -

Which was (from memory) suggested in one of the other many threads, by someone who claimed to have a medical background0 -

Jacques, watch out, your posts will be deleted if you keep making sensible suggestions, just like mine have been.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
To allow continuity, posters, including myself, asked that this post be moved to the pet area, to allow a more sympathic response. The posts asking for this have been removed on this thread.
I have no further comment on this subject, while it remains correctly posted in this area.0 -
Just wanted to say that I have managed to get media interest in my story
It seems that they are quite keen to get some comments from the RCVS regarding the letter I have send to them. This is not about just punishing the vet, I am not as some said on the witch hunt. Yes I would like it to be recognised that wrongdoing happened but the issue for me now is that the system we have does not protect our animal companions and us owners from negligence as negligent vets are allowed to stay in the profession without any punishment so they have nothing to fear. Yes mostly they are wonderful and caring people but if you leave the bad once in the system the profession will be loosing people's trust.0 -

and have the RCVS commented?
This contact with media only happened yesterday. I was told by them that there are a lot of changes at RCVS to Royal Charter happenig at present (new one since 1966) and the media were very keen for me to put my point across. I only had untill yesterday 5 pm. That I did but the whole thing was very rushed.0
