After my 3rd letter to RCVS that included forensic vet report that is all that the RCVS after over 2 months could come up with. I am truly shocked. It is like hitting your head againt a brick wall.

Quote: "I appreciate your sadness; however, we have answered your questions so far as the fitness to practice issues - there is nothing to question whether Miss... should continue to work as a vet. Therefore, we consider that the matter remains closed."

My reply by e-mail today.

"Thank you for your letter dated 4/2/14.

Could you just confirm to me that it is the RCVS view that a vet who cannot interpret blood works results, performs life threatening surgery as a result of this lack of knowledge, discharges the dog with bleeding event (while withholding this from the owner) has no issues with fitness to practice?

Could you also confirm that it is the RCVS view that treatment received by my dog was adequate and appropriate with the accordance to the Serious Professional Misconduct paragraph 5?

Just want to be clear in my mind what kind of vets am I likely to stumble on in the future.
Regards,"

Their reply today

quote "Thank you for your email.

It is not appropriate for us to comment further on your complaint against Miss.... The decision to review the closure of your complaint was, in accordance with our protocols, carried out by the Head of Professional Conduct and the Chairperson of the Preliminary Investigation Committee. They agreed with the decision of the Case Examiners and decided that your complaint should remain closed.

The RCVS’s jurisdiction and the matters that we can take forward are ones where there has been serious professional misconduct. This term means conduct that “falls far short of that to be expected of a reasonable veterinary surgeon”. We have not found the conduct of Miss ... to come into this category.

I am sorry but we have nothing further to add."

and my reply. quote:

"I am glad you have made this clear. Ability to interpret a simple blood results is not required or expected of a reasonable veterinary surgeon. So long I know so in the future will demand to see blood works myself rather than trust the vet.

I would also like to add that contrary to what stated in your letter you have not answered any of my questions so far as the fitness to practice of the veterinary surgeon concerned that I have asked in my letter of 28/11/13. Not even one."

Well what else can one expect from self regulating profession?

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times on the many other threads, but Hachette, have you never considered for one second that you are wrong in this?

This poor girl is clearly not getting struck off. Why don't you just leave it alone?

OP you really need to get some closure here.

You need to accept that decisions aren't going to be made that will suit and satisfy you.

You are going to have to come to terms with that or you will be eaten up by bitterness.

You now need to accept that you are 'fighting a losing battle'.

RCVS replied with no answers because they have not got any answers. Why? I think my questions were simple enough. How can it end while there is no end? Shall I just walk away? Don't think so.

What you want to get out of this is NEVER going to happen. They have given you their answer. Just because you don't agree that doesn't make a jot of difference. This vet has NOT been found to be guilty of serious professional misconduct - as far as they are concerned she did her job - the fact that you disagree with their (professional) decision is immaterial. They have found in HER favour, not yours.

They are NEVER going to punish this vet - as far as they are concerned, whether you like it or not, they have made their decision. They have ended it. No matter how much effort and money you throw at this is WILL NOT change their decision.

Walk away now with whatever dignity you can summon.

Because you're just going to end up bitter and twisted if you carry on.

  • I know I have not read all of the threads but it is starting to sound like a witch hunt as far as the vet is concerned . No matter what happens it will never make you feel any better and will never bring your pet back. Personally I am getting fed up with this now .......
  • Why are people being so harsh to this lady? She has lost her pet. My dogs are like my children, they are my family. I don't know the circs, it may well be that the vet hasn't done anything wrong, but there is no need to be so awful when she is clearly going through a tough time.

Read the other threads. People were very kind and supportive at first, and counselling has been suggested to the OP countless times. Sadly the OP chooses to ignore any advice that does not fit with her vendetta, hence why people might appear frustrated at her repetitive posts.
