During the application it asks for details of your current main back account. When you come to do the switch can use switch another back account?
In other words if I give them say a Natwest bank account details and then when I want to do the switch can I give them say Halifax details?
Thanks
Alex
why complicate matters? Only tell them about the account you want to switch.0 -
Very happy with the service, even though my old bank, Citibank is not part of the new switching service Co-op said that they would honour the hundred pound switching bonus as long as I use the old service to switch over.
The telephone service seems to be the best I've ever had from a bank, is just a shame that the Internet banking is nowhere near as good.Make £10 a day challenge in Feb £325.82/£280
March £78/£3100 -
Just opened mine and completed the switch via the phone, took about 30mins, loads of scripts etc.
If anyone wants a freephone tel I used 0169553760, it does ask for an acc number but just hit a few numbers and it puts you through anyway.0 -
My switch completed today, on time, DDs and payees transferred correctly. Unfortunately, the balance transferred by Nationwide is 55p short, for no obvious reason. I am now waiting for Nationwide to let me know why they kept the 55p.
Got to the bottom of the missing 55p now. Nationwide clawed back 6p in interest for February and refunded 1p in tax, so that accounts for 5p. They also charged 50p for unarranged overdraft usage.
Trouble is, they never paid me any interest for February so there is nothing to claw back, and no tax to be refunded. I also was never overdrawn so there is no charge due for any overdraft.
I don't know whether these funny transactions were made by a human or whether there are problems with Nationwide's sytems. I know it's only 55p but I am not having any of these guys taking even a penny off me for no reason. Nationwide have now apologised and put the missing money into one of my other accounts with them.0 -

I had a terrible experince with NW in Dec/ Jab / Feb with one of the NW accounts I was switching out (to Halifax).
This NW account didnt havent an overdraft but somehow they believed I owed around 50p when the account closed - they sent this belief in a letter.
I messaged them and they they replied that it was an error and to ignnore. Guess what - Jan comes and I get another letter - this time for unauthorised overdraft charges too.
I was horrified.
Investigation dragged onto Feb by which time they'd offered compensation etc etc. They are still trying to ascertain if this has affected my credit record.
NW are just consistently terrible IMO.
Back on this thread ......my Co-op looks to have smoothly transfered (from another NW account). I've already funded it with the > £800 before the switch, I'll wait until Mon and do this again and then look out for the £100.
Fingers crossed NW dont screw up again.0 -
Should be very interesting to see whether other people switching from Nationwide will be charged 50p, and deemed to have overdrafts when they never had one.0

7 Day Switch guarantee... Are they sure...???
Initial switch application 4/2/14
Switch date completion set for 24/2/14 - Did not happen!
New switch completion date 4/3/14
What exactly is guaranteed???0 -

My switch happened today (as planned), all SO and DD that were on the Nationwide account were switched over as was my £9 credit on the account. No additional charges thankfully - my account wasn't accruing any interest though, as I was no longer cycling the £1000 through since the 5% was stopped on multiple accounts.0 -

Did your bank that you were switching from decline the switch for a discrepency in information. I think its only guaranteed if the other bank accept the switch.
If not complain, they may give you a few extra pounds!0 -

Thanks, myth123, good to see Nationwide don't attempt to collect 50p and interest that they never paid in the first instance from everybody.
My "exit account" was pretty much like yours - it was one of my multiple FDs that they stopped paying interest on, and I had stopped paying £1K into back in mid January. My balance had never gone below zero, minimum balance at all times was £2, but mainly £2,500...0
