    existing coop current account holder.

phoned to start switch on the 6th.
told switch could commence on the 7th.
text message on the 10th confirming switch date would be the 17th.
today my Halifax SO's and cash balance are in my coop account.
switch complete? well, the Halifax account I have switched from is still open with a zero balance but maybe that will close later today or tomorrow?

    good job coop.
  • Not overly impressed with their service. I have to call them up Mon - Fri 8am-4pm which are the same hours that I work and I am not really allowed personal phone calls in work time. Don't think it's worth the £100 to transfer for me as they do seem overly bureaucratic.

Where did you get that information from? You will find that it is entirely incorrect. For instance, you could call them right now and they'd get the switch started for you.

    Their CS is available 24 x 7.
  • They left a number to call 0845 603 0095 which is only open mon-fri 8-4 for the new accounts team. I got a recorded message when I rang it asking me to call back between those hours.

The number to switch an account is 0800 707 6192. This is given on their website.

You can apply online 24 x 7. Your account welcome pack will contain freefone numbers such as 0800 590 483 (24 x 7) for setting up internet banking. They will also switch your account for you.

Or you can call the number from their switching web page - 0800 707 6192 (24 x 7).

Don't know where you got the above number from but apart from Mo-Fri 8-4, that number is also manned Sat 9-1, according to the recorded message.

I switched on Sat and my Dad called on Sunday. We used the 0800 number quoted by archi above.
  • Thanks, I called the 0800 number and they did not know what it was about, I'm hoping I get a letter informing me before I can call on Saturday, I'm wondering if they need some ID or something.

Does setting up SO's on a Nationwide FlexDirect require me to use the card reader thing as I don't have it with me right now but would like to phone up coop to switch asap as account has been opened a few days?
