Just wondering - the card reader that Co-Op provide (I'm still waiting for this), is it the same type of card reader that Nationwide use? I'm going to send £800 into the new co-op account but I am reluctant to do so if I can't set payments back out without a working card reader.

They told me on the phone yesterday that for the first 14 days of the account, I could set up online payments via internet banking without the need for a card reader. After 14 days I'd require one.

I have already sent a test payment and they seem to be true to their word.
Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right! :D

Does setting up SO's on a Nationwide FlexDirect require me to use the card reader thing as I don't have it with me right now but would like to phone up coop to switch asap as account has been opened a few days?

My internet banking is playing up, I asked if I could go into a branch for them to set up 2 SO's, apparently they can't even do this. I'm going to go in and do it anyway....

I'm not able to complete the switch within the 14 days for reasons I won't go into but they said over the phone that the offer will still apply after this date, anyone else had a similar experience?

The FlexDirect is a self-service account. It's very easy to set up an SO on a FlexDirect, and there are no known problems with the Nationwide online service if you try it right now.

The terms say you need to apply for the switch within 14 days. You can choose your switch date, and there are no time limits in the terms for the completion of the switch.

My switch completed today, on time, DDs and payees transferred correctly. Unfortunately, the balance transferred by Nationwide is 55p short, for no obvious reason. I am now waiting for Nationwide to let me know why they kept the 55p.

Also finally received my PIN, so the account is up and running.
  • Applied last Saturday, received email on Sunday advising account approved. Letter came on Tuesday 'account declined - info from experian'. Welcome pack arrived in todays post with account number etc. Typical Co-Op bank, some things never change lol
  • Hi

During the application it asks for details of your current main back account. When you come to do the switch can use switch another back account?

In other words if I give them say a Natwest bank account details and then when I want to do the switch can I give them say Halifax details?

    Thanks

    Alex
  • If I switch with a £2500 credit balance will that count as my £800 'pay in'?

†Any balance transferred from your old account as part of your switch does not count towards the minimum £800 funding requirement.
