I've been very naughty. Been on holiday for 2 weeks and have only done a run twice! Been too busy doing other activities including rowing and cycling. Will start again tomorrow - promise.Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get 0 0

Karrie, you were on holiday ! and you managed to do other stuff like rowing and cycling, if it had been me my only activities would have been to the bar and back (and glass to mouth!)Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?

Had a 'spare' lunch hour today so did 1min walk/3 min run x 5. It's working, slowly but surely. But, then had to spoil it all by playing rounders after work and pulling my hamstring when sprinting for the ball! Stopped running around so hopefully not too much damage. Maybe my body isn't cut out for this and is telling me so. Oh to be a fit teenager again :rotfl:0

Going for my second run with the running partner today. Haven't been out since the last one ! I've been boozing too much as I'm depressed about my rubbish job and alcohol and aerobic activity is not a good combination. ! I've been boozing too much as I'm depressed about my rubbish job and alcohol and aerobic activity is not a good combination.
Anyway, I handed in my notice on Friday and have 2 interviews next week, so hopefully I will soon have a new exciting job, a moderate alcohol intake and a faster mile time....!0

            thanks for your replys,
if i walk around the house bare foot, my ankles and around that area hurt, i will give it another week before i run again,
so you think i just need to rest ? i am worried that i have permentlly damaged them?
how long will it take for the pain to go, like i say if i wear heels or a slightly raised shoe, then the pain goes, i was running for approx 15 miniutes constantly everyday,
thanks for the replys in advance.
You may have tight calves which can lead to foot, ankle, knee and hip problems, or sore achilles tendons. I suggest you go to a physio or a podiatrist for a check up and exercises/stretches you can do. You have to pay for this but it is much cheaper than paying gym membership and you should only need one visit if it's a common problem and you go asap.
Unfortunately GPs unless they do sport themselves don't know very much about sport's medicine and the NHS is not geared up to fix people doing recreational sport unless they have a very serious injury or broken bone.
It is important that you run in proper running shoes that suit your foot shape AND the surface you are running on otherwise your injury/soreness will come back or worsen.
So if you haven't got your running shoes from a running shop (not the likes of JJB or sportsworld) then you are likely to have problem. To find a running shop either look in the back of runnersworld magazine or go to the runnersworld.co.uk website and look at their directory.
Running shoes vary in cost from £40 to £100. Most running shops will gave you a selection of shoes to try within different price ranges that suit your feet. They will try and sell you a mid-price range shoe £50-£60 rather than a £100 shoe as they rely on word of mouth and repeat business.
If you find a shoe you like running in (usually wearing running for a few weeks to a few months establishes this) will then be able to search on the internet and buy it cheaper i.e. if the shoe costs £60 in the running shop you probably will be able to find it for £45 online.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Well I am very very chuffed with myself, I can tell you! :j :j
I went for a run this morning. Decided to throw run 3 min walk 1 min out the window just to see if I could run for 4 mins. Guess what? I ran for a whole 15 mins!!! :j :j I dunno who I did it, but I did. And boy was I happy.
My last day at work is Friday and am a bit down at the moment as I don't have a job to go to. I took redundancy as I want to be at home when my son leaves for school for the 1st time in 11 years. I want to work locally rather than drive miles to sit in traffic jams. I think as I am a bit miffed that helped with my run today.
Hope everyone else is going well. Just wish I had a running partner.Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get 0 0
