This thread inspired me to buy 'Running Made Easy' and also find a running partner on a on a local website. The only thing is... the running partner and I have yet to meet as she keeps cancelling due to other stuff coming up...as she says 'Maybe this is why I can't stick to running'!
Fingers crossed for this Wednesday!0 -
is anyone looking for a running partner in the wirral area?!0

Been in Bath for a couple of days, IT training, and took the running kit 'just in case'. Found time for a run along the Kennet & Avon canal yesterday evening including a few inclines which increased the heart rate. Made it!
The change in scenery also provided new interest and 'though the terrain was more difficult than the gym it's made me want to get out more.0 -
I try to vary the scenery when I go running although I have one route that I like doing to check on my progress.
I have never been able to work in a gym. I get bored and bothered as soon as I get any further than reception... I'd rather dodge the dogs, the children and the ducks when I go round and round the lake. It keeps me entertained!
Although... this winter... will I want to round a frozen lake? I might have to get myself to like a gym....
Might be a weird question but, what does any one do in winter running-wise? Do you still go out there albeit with a few more layers?0 -
Finally met up with the prospective running partner! She's really nice and works the same hours as me which is useful. We agreed we would start with 1 run together per week and she knows a couple more keen-in-theory-disorganised-in-practise girls, so we're going to try and have an informal group which meets on a regular night so we will always have someone to run with. I'm psyched! (Although I think she is better than me!)0

That's great news Plum Pie!
I have done 2 sessions with a running buddy so far and it makes such difference. It makes the run goes very quick and much less difficult.
I remember you saying you got in touch with that person via a local forum. What kind of forum was it? I'm at a lost as regards to what exist out there...0 -
Wish I could find a buddy! I did put a note on a local forum but all I got was cocky replies. :mad:Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get

I looked on moveflat.com (which is also a great, FREE place to find house shares!). It has ads for outside London too (Manc, Glasgow etc) but I don't know how active the non-London boards are. There is a site called http://www.runningtogether.co.uk/ which I saw advertised on gumtree.com, but you have to register. It looks good though.
Karrie, I can't believe you got only cocky replies! That's terrible! (Mind you, I can't work out why people troll boards. So sad...!)0 -
The music on those podcasts is so dreadful, it's enough to put anyone off running and it may even lead to losing your will to live!!!'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it....for much longer!'0
