Thats better. The 3.5 mile hilly run in 32 min 17sec. Non-stop except for visit to bush (damn diuretics).

Hi Sazbo - thank you and good luck for next Sunday. I hope to be doing one of those soon ;) Don't eat too many smarties!

    Thanks Hotspur.

Well just been for a run - it's a gorgeous, perfect morning and I did ...........:j 17 mins :j A few weeks ago I never thought I'd run for 3 minutes without stopping.

I looked at the womens running network and there isn't one in my area. Sometimes I feel like stopping people I see out running and say "Will you be my friend and run with me?" :rotfl:
Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get ;);)
  • Karrie - you could always got to runnersworld website and advertise for a 'virtual' running buddy. I kinda did this with my sis (in Kent, I'm in Suffolk) and we'd send details of plans and email each other after each run. Not in a competitive way though! (not a competitive person although I did beat Carol Vorderman at the GNR last year) (and a cyberman, spongebob squarepants, several fairies and Darth Vader).
  • Hi everyone,

I've been out this morning too Karrie, saw the sun rise. Well, kind of, it was cloudy...

I did 2.5 miles and I ran for a lot of the way. Woow Hoo!!! :j

Well done on the 17 minutes Karrie! :T It's such a great feeling, to beat one's own record, isn't it?

It's my forth week and today I have really noticed how much I've improved. Although I feel i can't go anymore after 7 minutes up to the 10th minute of running. If I don't give up then, I get myself into a very elating state where I feel no pain, no difficulty. I feel I could go on running for ever.

    Has everyone been out today?

The virtual running buddy is a great idea Scrimpingbadger. Thank you. I have lost my "in the flesh" one so I might get myself one of your virtual ones.

Been for a run this morning - did 21 mins :j I did feel like a could do more but knew a hill was coming so I wimped out :p

I am going to go round the route on my bike later as it's got a mileometer thingy on it to see how far I am running.

Am very very chuffed with myself.

    How's everyone else doing?

For the me, the first 4/5 minutes are the worst. I really feel like I am going to have a bad run but after that it feels good.

  • That's making me feel better. I'm normal then. I guess it's the body saying "no way you're going to make me do a running session again" and trying to put the mind off the idea...

I think my body was saying to me "why the hell have you got out of bed and put me through this?" :D

Suffolkb I've just realised I do exactly 1mile less than you in the same time. And that's on a flat route! I didn't run all the way though. But a good fair bit of it. No way I can run for 32min yet.

Say on a 5k race. What is the average time? A middle of the road time? I'd like to be able to work out how I'm doing.

Hard to be exact. I looked up the times for a 5k race held last month. 213 runners. Winner 15:42, 100th place 20:51, 200th 28:57 and last 35:24.
There aren`t many 5k races though and 10k is more popular. My best was 46:08 (7:26 pace). This would put me roughly 2/3rd of the way down the pack in a reasonably large field.
Put your name down if you have a local 5k. You`ll enjoy it and probably won`t be last.
