    Hi guys

After a really good start and running 3 times a week for two weeks I Got a new running partner an 11 mth old lab.

howerver it turns out that walking doggyboop is hard enough......
so after 4 weeks of tryign to convince doggy boop to walk in a normal fasion my task for the weekend is to start running again with insane dog

    wish me luck!
Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help? :p

    I wish you luck

And I am sure the stop /start (with doggy widdle) will do you good!
  • I have been running since January 2007.

To start my legs would really ache and every things would hurt.

Now when I go running the pain has gone and I find my self pushing my self further and harder.

I run on average three times a week and some times add a few swims to take the weight off my legs when I feel they could do with a rest.

Some times if you push yourself to hard and your legs are hurting too much its your body telling you to slow down and have a few easy runs.

Listern to your body , You should feel the burn but it should not really hurt. Try Ice packs on your leg for a few minutes. Works a dream when you shins hurt a bit. Weights also help to increas your muscles in your legs.

As said before runners world is brilliant for all these hints and tips.

Have been recovering from a short stay in hospital, because I was very anemic I wasn't able to run for nearly four weeks.
Started running again a couple of weeks ago,omg its hard work, its amazing how quickly your fitness levels drop.Today I managed just over 2.5 miles with a 5 minute walk half way through, hope to get up to a good 5k (with no walking) before the bad weather sets in.:j
  • You Can't Judge a Running Shoe by Its Price Tag

Lower-cost running shoes provide as good or better protection for the foot as high-priced shoes, according to investigators here.

Thought this may provide a moneysaving tag for this thread.

Ted, that's awesome. I've been running in old cross trainers up to now as i didn't want to splurge and then lose the will to jog. Now I'm ready to buy some proper shoes!

My running partner and I were looking at our times yesterday and realised we're twice as good as when we started. We're chuffed to bits as our routine has already weathered holidays, the changing seasons (ish!), job stress and house moves.

    How is everyone else doing?

Mais oui Vik, we're not a clique, this is quite an erratic thread anyway! (Everyone spends to much time out running or stretching their hamstrings...)

Are you following a programme? Is the treadmill in a gym and part of a routine? (I am so nosy!)

ooh... MSE have a thread for new joggers/runners!!:j
    cool.. can I join?

I've just signed up to Runnersworld! (3 magazines for a £1 and a free heart monitor watch) (money saving option!) :D

I went jogging (:o Shuffle?) on Saturday for the first time in 10 years!

I'm surprised that I didn't have to do the run between lampposts/trees and then walk the next bit.. did manage to run to each 'corner' of the park. so quite chuffed.

I'm going to see if I can do a little jogging on the way home tonight (I live in a dodgy area and there is no way I'm going jogging in the local parks after dark - which is about 4pm now!)... Mind you it was very bright and sunny this morning so maybe I should get up earlier? I'm really not an early person so I'm not sure that will actually happen. :o ( I walk 8 miles a day to/from work so it would be good to combine this somewhat as going jogging after walking for an hour seems a bit mundane!)

I'm overweight and my Slipped Disc is not helping in the exercise department!!!

I prefer doing that little run compaired to the gym so I really want to keep this up.
