  • Evening all. A spendy day for me today. £2 teaboat and £2 for the lotto syndicate.

Went out for tea with my dad tonight and he paid - good old dad! Walked to and and from work so pleased with that. Hoping for a NSD tomorrow. Thursday and Friday may be different as not working so may be spending.

Hope all are well and are warm and dry and stocked up well against the zombies!

Have a good Wednesday everyone and check in again tomorrow!
  • Hmmm I am well stocked up on one thing- painkillers! I have got a ridiculous stash of all sorts. Must have about 50 aspirin, 50 paracetamol, 2 boxes extra strength, cocodomal, 2 tubes pain killer gel, box ibuprofen and that's not counting all the random half used packs lying around in various locations. I always seem to chuck a few packs of stuff in trolley at supermarket as it's cheap and need to buy paracetamol on mystery shops.

Think medicine drawer will be the first area to declutter!

  • My goodness, I have a lot to catch up on - sorry for going AWOL, I had a real crisis and then went away for the weekend. I have to look at all my receipts etc later today and tot up the food bill as I have not been keeping a running total, but I haven't been going mad.
It's payday in 2 weeks and our bank balance is right down to the last few pennies. Mmmm. We do have savings but they must stay untouched so I am going to list all my food in the cupboards etc and plan the next 14 day meals as much as I can.

In the longer term I have turned down the house thermostat and notices that there are a lot more jumpers being worn, and I am nagging all the time for lights etc to be switched off - it is slowly working.

I took advantage of the end of sales the other day and got some really really good bargains for me, so now I do have at least 2 tops and a pair of trousers that fit and don't look completely shabby. It was in my budget.

    Will catch up later

clippy_girl - my DH once had chest pains like you are describing, thinking he was dying he dashed off to the GP and was told it was muscle strain from lifting weights at the gym.

A SFD for me again today, I need to stack them up in preparedness for half term as DH has announced that he has managed to take 4 days off then.

I don't think we are hugely prepared for any sort of disaster, we have plenty of food in but how would we cook it? We have matches and candles, several wind up torches and a wind up radio, loads of blankets and warm clothes but no water supplies. We do have a solid fuel stove though and a caravan with gas bottles. This type of thing terrifies me now I have children and also there are so many people who wouldn't rally round and help others they would just take like they do now.

Hoping that today will be a SFD and an exercise day but not going to declare either until I'm safely home in my jammies!

I need to look for some stuff to post - I sold a load of stuff last month via FB and someone messaged me yesterday (!) to say she had just paid. Three weeks after she was meant to  I have no idea where I've put it all now so need to have a good look round for that.

I've reduced my LTW target as I was off work sick all of last week so didn't have to take my lunch anywhere :) Today is my first LTW of the month.

Bit of an update debt wise for me today. Me and DH had some money in a couple of savings accounts which was earning next to nothing in interest so I withdrew it last week and paid it into the bank and have been waiting for it to clear. It cleared today so I have paid off all but two of our cards in full, one card has a balance of £1900.00 which I will be paying interest on but will get that paid off quickly so no point incurring the costs to transfer and the other card has £6128 at 0% interest.

My debt has gone from £13,000+ to £8224.83 since the 1 January. Obviously not all that has been paid off today. We now only have a £175 emergency fund left in savings so fingers crossed we can just leave that there. It was the right time for us to use our savings to claw our way out of this mess. Had we done it a year ago we would have just thought great we don't owe much now we can go even more spendy mad, that way we would still have huge debts and no savings to boot. We had to wait until we had our LBM and stopped spending for the sake of it.

I am feeling much more relaxed and optimistic now.

I forgot that I have an overdraft too of £190 ish which isn't incurring any costs at all and is being chipped away at too.
