In bad weather, I have a complete change of clothes, a blanket and food and water in my car (just in case). Although that will be different now that my work is 2 miles away instead of 20.
I tend to stockpile but not really sensible stuff. I have enough toiletries to last about three months (moisturising cream, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc).
I don't generally stockpile intelligent stuff like food but due to my new found love of yellow labels (we have about a month's collection of meat in the freezer).
Spend-free day number 7 today.
:j
Did shopping yesterday but keep forgetting to do the food bank which I feel really guilty about it.
:embarasse
It will get completed by the end of the month though!!
On holiday after this run of nights so planning to declutter a bit at that point. See if I can find some stuff to throw at the zombies. (My Shaun of The Dead training tells me I need to remove the head so I will try and find pointy stuff).
Hope everyone is doing okay.

i am defnow
was having a little rest before i went to the gym tonight when i started having chest pains at 5pm. i have had them on and off since sat am. when it hurts it is really sore and i cant take deep breaths but then theres no pain again?! i was fine yest and did a really hard cardio session with no issues. rang nhs direct who said i needed to see or speak to a doc (they dont have docs until 6.30). managed to spk to my gp who said its either a muscle injury or slight infection in the muscle and to take ibuprofen. just took some and it has gone now
i had this about 18 months ago and it took weeks to totally go away. i had to take ibuprofen 4 times a day whether it hurt or not to reduce the inflammation but they said i could still exercise. having rest tonight then will try and do step tomorrow if its not hurting. just when i got my mojo back as well
think i have quite a bit of ibuprofen so no need to break sfd's to get more:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
re preparedness i dont think i am prepared for anything! i have loads of candles but not sure where the matches are! i have loads of food but its all in the freezer so no way of heating (although if had gas could use match to light cooker and heat on that). the only think to drink in my house is milk or alcohol
my car is reasonably ok in that i have a big thick hi vis waterproof coat and wellies in it. most places i go are walking distance so can abandon car and walk (did that last year). should prob put some snacks and a windup torch in boot though!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Oh... just realised (reading clippygirls comments).
We have a huge supply of hexi stoves (solid fuel) from when we used to camp at festivals plus we have the campervan with gas so cooking food wouldn't be a problem (no oven though).
Main issue for us would be water. I did have a filter thing but it was a bit of a passing phase. I now just drink normal tap water but from a volvic bottle (trying to be MSE).
I have to go to work now and can't think of anything else to add. Have a good night.

Crate run went well - first time I have been warm for the past week. Put the bin out when I got back, as last week I didn't have the energy after exercise class (it was only green waste and recycling week and neither was more than a quarter full). Black bin was full to brim (boys not me) and then I had to find space for more.
Class was good, made it through to the end and did a few bits I haven't managed before, so hopefully bits are starting to move properly (lying on the mat at home doing stretches would help but it's too cold - I'll have to try putting music on and dancing round the front room. Done a bit of dancing this week - you know it's cold when you clasp whatever you have just taken off the radiators to your ears and jump around in sheer bliss at the warmth.
Still had enough energy for the SM run so used my vouchers and 5p besides (counting it as £7.55 on my budget as I have already put the £7.50 down as a PaD to come off the cc). Just as I reached the bus station, my bus pulled away from the stand. Half an hour to the next one so I walked - bit of an effort, had to resort to looking at the ground in front of me and counting to 100 (for step with each foot) and ignoring how far I'd done/left to do. felt good by the time I reached home - celebrated with feta and butternut squash salad (30p from reduced shelf). Also got something called oatcakes but they are the size of small plates and look a bit like pancakes -hoping to use them like wraps.
Commiserations to everyone suffering bad weather, was lovely here for most of the day, cold but clear. Spent the morning trying on (old )clothes. Jog pants went in the wash but not dry. Did last night's exercise class in velour dress bought for Xmas about 5 years ago (loose enough to move my legs and didn't show anything I shouldn't - what more can you ask of an exercise outfit). Couple of other things I have been wearing are now 'tired' (only fit for painting/dirty jobs). So turned to the remaining four items in the wardrobe that haven't fitted till now (seem to be stuck weightwise, but losing inches) and I could get in them all. Bit too cold yet for 2 of them but can wear linen trousers under new dress (went mad on 23rd of December - to put it into context my clothes spending for the year to that point was 2 pairs of jogging pants (needed for exercise class) and a 5 pack of knickers for £2 in the sale bin (lost so much weight that my old ones started trying to escape).
Delicious lunch - 2 of the 'oatcakes' spread with low fat cream cheese, cabbage /onion/yellow pepper/lemon juice and raita and a teaspoon of crab meat (held together with 3 cocktail sticks). taken out Tandoori lumps (made for Christmas) from freezer to repeat tomorrow (bowl of cabbage and onion with raita in the fridge).
This afternoon filled the big (65l) rucksack with DS1's clothes sort out (I have five new t-shirts, 5 pairs of socks and a summer and a winter jumper - charity pile was bigger) to the charity bank in the library. Bag was bulky rather than heavy but was glad to get there. Picked 4 new books and was going to sit on a bench outside before starting the return journey. Then decide to sit inside in the warm and read papers and picked up some leaflets.
Veg curry for tea so a no spend day:jat last:jHoping to get to Friday before any more spending. Soon after I got home it started to snow. House is toasty for once as the pile of nearly dry/wet washing was impeding any attempts at clutter clearing. keep adding any odd navy sheets and pillowcases to DS1's pile. 3 old curtains and a sheet turned into rags (the pile wasn't going down and I decided I needed a tough criterion - settled for if I wouldn't give it to the charity shop, it's rags) one linen shirt set aside to make me a shirt and/ or top/s for summer - love linen but it's £35ish a time so keep saving but get something I want. Updating signature in a minute but not risking losing this post so it may be on next one. Car fixed - dh did explain what was broken but I confess I glazed over it was small and normally comes as a bigger set which costs more but they managed to source the little bit which is much cheaper. Love our garage - they are brilliant - a little while back the clutch went on my car at 9am - they picked it up at 10am, gave me a price by lunch time and it was back on the drive by 9pm that night. The bill was loads less than you would imagine too. It was just before christmas too - twelve months earlier it would have crippled us - it wasnt pleasant but I am very grateful it happened this year and not before if that makes sense. Anyways will stop waffling!! Well maybe...
Friend secured a room in delivery suite at 3.30 today - that would be 31.5 hours of doing nothing - anyway its all gone quiet so hopefully she is hooked up to a drip, contracting nicely and will pop a baby out before I go to bed!!!
Had to go on a mercy dash when at Dd swimming to get another pal so tissues - she is full of cold and feeling awful poor love - cash back for them though so I think my sfd is intact?
Anyway that will do for today - car on the mend means house can stay on the market and on we go

Just a quick visit to claim another SFD today. Had to drive a 130 miles round trip, give or take, to collect some wheels step son had ordered on eBay. OH paid for the bottles of drink for the journey and I paid the £100 for the wheels but not counting it as step son will be paying me back in cash on Friday when he comes down to pick them up
Will update all my totals and post them tomorrow.
Nite all

Another NSD that makes 7
We were going out tonight but due to the weather have stayed in and kept warm. Its saved at the least £20 so unless we go at a later date this month will put £20 in the bank.
As for being prepared - we have two freezers full of food, loads in cupboards, in wardrobe in spare room, in the blanket chest and under the bed!!! Also have in candles, few matches, some batteries and a torch. We cook on gas and have a microwave and other electrical appliances. There is somewhere in the shed a calor gas camping stove and an extra gas container but like I said - SOMEWHERE in the shed. We also have a few UHT milk in and also some milk powder if things are really desperate. I reckon water aside we could easily survive for a minimum of 4 months more likely 6 months although meals would be strange.
Love the wedding dress by the way.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Evening zombie slayers. It has been a busy weekend for me. Not all in a good way, I went shopping on Saturday and spent some money. I got a couple of new jumpers from New Look so they didn't cost the earth and I'm really sick of wearing my old fleece.
It has been a bit of a mixed month so far. I'm doing better on some parts of the challenge than on others. Not doing too well on the grocery challenge. I might have underestimated on this one. Still, at least my £160 was for the month, not a week!
My challenge stats look like this:
Spend free days - 7/15
Exercise - 6/12
Groceries - £123.82/£160
Meat free days - 2/14
Decluttering - 18/28
Food Bank £0/£5
I have done ok on the de-cluttering front. Managed to sell some things on ebay so a bit of welcome cash as well. Still in my Paypal account so far but I'll transfer it before the end of the month. I haven't been to the cashpoint yet this month so the SFDs are working. Just a couple of visits to the post office to post parcels this week and that's pretty much all the cash I've spent. Oh, a birthday card and stamp as well.
Exercise is going well but I'm an exercise junkie so that was never going to be a problem. I'm really happy with my running at the moment. I had an injury last year and it out me out of action for a few months which drove me to distraction. Haven't managed too many meat-free days but that's a personal challenge just for me.
I have enjoyed reading other posts this month. Glad you got your car fixed LAGL, beautiful dress, Thrifty. I'm sure you'll look stunning.
I hope everyone is ok and soldiering on. The question about how prepared we are for a disaster is a bit of food for thought. I'm not sure how well I'd do. Maybe I'll give it some thought. I have a wind-up torch somewhere so that's a start.
Yay!I got my smilies back! :TSealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90
