Could not be bothered making lunch this morning so headed to B+oots as I knew I had around £5 in points after using some points booster coupons last week and it was showing on my receipts. Grabbed a meal deal today and scanned it all, pressing pay with points and it said I did not have enough! I have not been to the shop since I got the points so where they have gone I do not know. I was very annoyed as was planning an SFD! I had to pay by card and have transferred the money from my Paypal account to cover it. Grrr!
The ad card system has been forked in the last few days! Maybe it's just that?Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -
its normally switched on 7th working day unless you specify otherwise. your old balance will be transferred over.
i didnt get my £100 from halifax and rang to complain a few days after switch completed and they apologised and said was an error. they paid it straight away and i got £15 comp and £7 for the call. then i got the £100 added again
there is a thread on here with lots of ppl saying £100 didnt go in but they all got comp when they rang up. i think if you switch in branch you get it straight away:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
I've not been on here for a few days and wow, has this moved on fast. I've been very good with the spending and now at 7SFD.
I wish I was having more success with the exercise. I can't motivate myself at all and this dark weather doesn't help.
Food is also an issue, as I want the comforting carbs too.
Seems silly moaning about this when you see the conditions that people are struggling with.
I have to go and get pet food today and must remember at the beginning of the month, to get enough to last. It's always going to be needed unless both cats decide to leave home. I wish they would just eat the dried food.

Sorry to have been AWOL for a few days, seems to be lots to catch up on.
Hugs and best wishes for Mothernerd and IWillSucceed
Georgeous dress Thrifty! And even more georgeous price!
Apple mucher I seem to remeber having a kids science book when I was younger and one of the experiements was to boil a red cabbage and use the (purple) water as a indicator for relative acidity/alkalinity, so maybe it's other things in the soup are affecting that, not just the eggs.
What's new at Karma Towers? I have more SFDs under my belt, up to 7, including today. I have been getting my craft on regularly, last night I was hemming my bridesmaid dress for my BFs wedding in April. I spotted the dress I liked in Coast, but too much money (£150), found the maxi version on eBay for half that price and so am now shortening it to knee length. Would ahve kept it long, but it's not quite maxi enough for me :rotfl: not complaining there's other benefits to being 5'9"Total debt: [STRIKE]£9473.62[/STRIKE] £7,384.87 22% PAIDTAF #25 NSD 8/12 | Food £43.45/£50 | eBay 0/20 | Exercise 5/18:T Proud to be Dealing with my Debt :TDFD: June 20150 -
Afternoon all.
I'm sat lazily on the sofa doing all the accounts forecasting for the month although it's horrible out there and I am dreading going out in it later I really feel for those in the country who have had to evacuate their homes due to the flooding and I hate how these people are not being better supported by our government, it's a disgrace. (Jeez I sound like a DM reader!)
So I have worked out the joint account for the following month, and my account. I've set up direct debits to various savings accounts and amended amounts to others. We are still over paying on our debts in the meantime but we now have a decent emergency fund.
SFD day 8 here, no way am I entering any shops! Have to drop off some parcels for fleabay on the way to school though.
DH is working late tonight so it's a freezer dive tea, extra pilates and bed for me!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Good Afternoooooooon! The day must be over for some of you! I on the other hand get to sit here until 1900... GREAT!!!!
So I checked out the Lillian dress Thrifty and its GORGEOUS. Good choice and whoever said you need to spends £££'s on a beautiful gown needs a slap...
Mother Nerd am loving your updates keep them coming...
MrsGSR sounds like a nice day at home for you... although you are right about the folks that are flooded. The woman in the DM who was nearly washed away when that lorry passed her made me so sad.. she reminds me of my Mummy and I just want to hug her.. .feel so sad for them and you are right when you say not enough is being done..
Dolly84 I got my money the day after it went live I think. Haven't quite managed to keep on top of the monthly transfers so have lost that £5 each month (shhhhhhhhh don't tell any one I didn't claim free money)...
I am intrigued as to how people think when it comes to meals. £160 a week is an extortionate amount of money - do you think your friend is educatable ( it's a new word ) or do you think she will just say it's too hard. It sounds like a massive drop in her pay each month considering roughly £640 is food? (or was that LAGL's friends)..... If anything you are the woman to help her. I just hope she appreciates it and takes it on board.
Shady - how pants for you. I am running on points now although I think some money has been put towards other budgets (moving) without me knowing but I am sorry you had to spoil an SFD if indeed it was Boots faulth.... MsHargreeves are you a surfacing lurker ......"hello to you"..:)Then went to gym for body attack and 20 min spin. annoyingly they were doing some class thing using the 4 mats in the lobby so all the matts in gym were taken and I couldn't do my abstrying to do some crunches, leg raises and side crunches each day at the gym. will do tonight.
face after tonight . I know what it feels like when you are in the throws of a regime and miss exercises or days..
So I am going shark diving next week at the London Acquarium. One of the girls from Archery works there and there are the famous 5 meeting for a day out and some dinner. We hung out for the last 5 weeks, got out attendance certificates last night and we want to have a night together.... yes the lovely boy that I met there will be in attendance...:T
So my appointment with the passport office was booked today. This is what I am rather happy about. Otherwise there ain't nothing wild happening in my little life.... I am in my new shoes this morning, one massive blister under my food from boots last night and newly shaved heels from the new shoes. Not good with the amount I am walking...:o

Kat - It's going to be a very steep learning curve for my friend, she listens with awe to me telling her what I have cooked and baked. She thinks she cooks but what she does is grills some chops or adds a jar of sauce to mince etc so there is a lot more she can do and learn. I'm not really sure how she will get in as she is a creature of habit through and through.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

You need to keep us updated though. I am in awe of some folk. Suppose it comes from me being taught by my mother ( soup is her specialty in all shapes and forms ) but we never got "bought" meals as kids and sauces were always home made.
Incidentally a question for all.... with the recent floods, and the lack of help the residents are getting - are you or would you if you could (without looking like a loon ) prep in anyway for any disasters.
I read the SHTF thread (Sh*t Hits the Fan) and it's interesting when people mention just how much fresh water we use in a day - how we would provide for ourselves and our families if Thames Water stopped working for three weeks..? Or the Leccy stations were targeted by a terrorist attack and unserviceable for a few months..?
Or perhaps on a small scale - are you prepped for any whether when you go out in your car... wind up torch, blankets, extra clothings, sleeping bags etc...
Anyone.. I would if I had the space. Pure and simple. Enough food and water for a month.“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Brought my ID into branch on the 31st of Jan, got my account on the 5th of Feb (email confirmation), signed up for online banking, got my debit card yesterday (but not the PIN yet) and that's it. My money is still sitting in my old account, no £100 yet. I thought the switch should happen within 7 days, but I guess it depends when they started counting the 7 working days. If I haven't heard by Friday I give them a phone. I guess 7 working day will be over on the 14th for me.
That seems to be taking a really long time, have you chased them up?Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

What a beautiful dress Thrifty! So classy… looks like it cost an awful lot more than it did! Well done you, you are going to look stunning in it!
Dolly84, your friend sounds like a lot of people out there… it’s amazing to me now that people live like this! How do they afford it?!
Wow, NSK sharks, gulp, that sounds very exciting (read terrifying!) go you! You raise a very interesting and zombie relevant question though about how prepared we are for things and how much we take for granted. When I lived in London it was through the tube bombs and I used to think about attacks and areas being cut off / gassed etc and how I would cope. Now, due to living in the middle of nowhere, I think about extreme weather and being snowed in etc. We got flooded out at our last house so we have moved to somewhere (as much as is possible) unlikely to flood, as I don’t want to go through that again. I feel for those experiencing it now as it’s awful. But, we have probably enough food in the house for a few weeks, I realise now we have no spare water. Indeed the only liquid is breakfast juice and alcohol! Nor do we have any way of purifying water. We have lots of candles and torches, but need more matches and batteries. I really want a battery/wind up radio too. We have some crude weaponry – axes and an air rifle. We have an open fire we can use for warmth or cooking, and we are on oil central heating so that’s self sustainable as long as there is oil in the tank. We try not to go below ¼ of a tank. In the car I always have a few litres of water, some cereal bars, a blanket, coat, hat and gloves as well as sturdy walking boots and a torch. I drive A LOT with work and have been caught out stuck all night on a closed motorway in February before and I wasn’t organised! I had to share a very kind lorry driver’s cab and his sarnies! I learnt a lot from that experience. Interesting to muse on this though, thanks Kat!
NSD here and half an hour of yoga before work, so feeling better today… and a delicious curry cooking on the hob with frozen spinach and tinned potatoes. Cheap and tasty!
