Well, been a productive SF day here so far, and heading off to the gym in a bit for a swim as well. So far we've cleaned the house very thoroughly and I've also done a run – first in a few weeks…ouch. But, feeling very good about today!
So I was thinking that it’s been 6 months now that we have been living the frugal life and paying off debt. And we have hopefully have about another 9 months to go to DFD. Living this way has kind of become a way of life now not a conscious decision. The challenges are great as they focus me and keep me from getting complacent – the brand down shift last month was a perfect example of this. I honestly thought we could not shift down any more and then we found 6 downshift things which we’ll keep buying. DH and I were talking this morning about the experience so far and both feel that we like the ‘freedom’ from consumerism that we have discovered as a result of this. Whatever happens when we get DF, I know a lot of habits and choices we make now will stay with us – they are better for us financially, mentally and spiritually. It really has made us focus on what is important in life…
Right, that’s enough deep and meaningfuls! Off for a swim and a steam. Hope everyone is enjoying Sunday and doing ok

Have managed to reach NSD #5 today but nothing else much to add to the challenges.
Am thinking I ought to crack on with some de cluttering this coming week if possible and also tackle the ironing before its to high to climb. Not my favourite job in life!MARCH £62.38/2500 -
SFD 7 here today
Batch cooked a big old lentil curry. Had what I hope was a brainwave part way through and thought I'll throw some quinoa in it. Partly because I have loads and I don't know what to do with it and partly because I thought it would bulk out the curry.
Well, it's certainly bulked it out! I've got about double the quantity. I reckon I'm going to have upwards of ten portions. Got to put some rice on in a bit for a couple of days worth for work lunches. Also need to remember to take the chapatis and naan's out of the freezer.
I've also experimented today and made some Hungarian pastry. A colleague is from there and his wife often sends in goodies. These taste almost the same and are very morish. Am hoping to keep enough to take to work and to the OH's at the end of the week.
Cancelled my advanced bank account yesterday. All part of the switch process but it's £12 odd that I can throw at the credit card.Feb NST #4

Shyspender quinoa is lovely in veg soup as it has a nutty taste. Try a few handfuls with diced carrot, potato and onion, pepper and stock. Yummy:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

Evening all,
SFD number 6 here todayOn the exercise front, I did 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym, a few weight, a bit of a swim and a relax in the Jacuzzi
I have spent the afternoon decluttering. Got four bags for the bin, a box for the charity shop and listed half a dozen items on eb4y. It feels very therapeutic and I now have underwear draws that just have underwear in, what a novelty!!
I also went shopping to a couple of my favourite home stores and bought nothingThen I took a couple of items back and got vouchers to spend in the future (had lost the receipts!), so feel like I've made money!
Have had a lovely weekend this weekend and feel I have achieved a lot, which makes a nice change. Hope you have all had similarly successful days.
Lastly, I know this is a daft question but can anyone recommend a soup to make for a novice cook with limited kitchen equipment (I don't have a blender or similar). Thanks in advanceLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Clippy_girl the problem with that would be the carrot, potato, onion and stock, lol!
The curry is good, the quinoa has added flavour and bulked it out. I normally just add lots of spice to the quinoaFeb NST #4

fmess i make leek and potato soup which is really easy. just dice potato and finely slice leeks with some white pepper and veg stock. i dont like mine blended so just have small cubes in. or diced veg with either quinoa or country veg mix (the dried mix you soak overnight). i am also really loving girlcalledjacks spinach and lentil daal and i have been taking that to work instead of soup recently. if you do want to make blended ones i got an asda smart price blender for £5 and it is perfect for soup
so today spends were £17.50 on lunch in prezzos for me and mum
no exercise and lots of food consumed
i have been debating my goal again and want to loose 18lbs by 4 may so 1.5lbs per week. really want to stop eating sugar as makes me binge and feel rubbish. so going to step it up from tomorrow.
totally not :money: but i am considering doing the les mills grit cardio classes. does anyone do these? they are supposed to be amazing and see better results than normal classes but they are expensive (£5 per class or 10 for £45 on top of gym!) thinking i dont have much planned in the next month so could pay for out of weekly spends). thinking maybe just one course to kick start my routine. thoughts?
cat is currently playing with his new toy mum bought him- its a felty big ball xmas decoration from m&s for 50p. he is loving it as he can stick his claws in it and pick it up. i like it as its too big to roll under the sofa like his other balls :rotfl::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0
