  • Hi all I haven't been on here in a while as iv been in bed sick from last fri :( finally starting to feel normal again. On the plus side hav managed 4Nsd.
Was bold and had take out tonight as I have been decluttering all day and didn't have any tea done so £15 on pizza.

Will join in the introductions, I'm 28 live in NI with my fella of 11 yrs and our 3 girls, age 9, 6 and nearly 2. Currently renting our house but we have a plot of land nearby that we want to build on so that's why I'm wanting to save. Hubby builds log cabins for a living so that is what we would like to build on the land and I want to grow our own veg and have chickens etc :D

Off to try catch up on the thread.

    Evening all

So sorry to hear about your cat mothernerd :( Your house story is so inspirational and I have a feeling there are a lot more inspirational life moments that we don't yet know about you.

Today was a SFD, although I was very tempted to buy naughty things. I took my lunch to work, then took back a pair of running trainers that I bought last week but wasn't sure about (got vouchers back so need to find some new ones), used B00ts birthday vouchers to buy the toiletries I needed and a chocolate bar! Went out to dinner with family and although they were paying, I had found a 30% off voucher online so they were very pleased with me :) Then went to pay for parking and OH offered as I'd treated him yesterday :)

Walked the dogs for exercise, so another session done :)

Hope you've all had a good day :)

  • Evening all. Planned on having a SFD today but forgot it was a charity day in work today so put some money in the collecting bucket. As I had a spendy day I then bought some chocolate when I was at my evening class.

Nothing much else to report. Will have to go shopping one day this weekend - but will have to see what the weather is like before I venture out as the storms are on the way. Have lots I can do around the house so will keep occupied. I just want the rain to stop so I can walk to work and go out for a run!

Hope everyone is well. Have a good Saturday everyone and will check in again tomorrow.
  • Hello everyone!

Here I am in London in my hotel room waiting for my long weekend of training. We have been skiing in the Italian Alps already with my family! we had the most amazing time of our life time! However, when we got back, we had an e-mail to say that my father in-law was taking to hospital cos he is very poorly. This has resulted on us travelling to the south twice to see him, it is very expensive £120 family rail train ticket! We are going to see him every weekend except this weekend because I am in London...I don't know any more about savings etc..my father in-law comes first..family matters..so i cannot join the challenge until we see how the health of my father in -law turns out..i have been very tearful...:-(
I am sending all of you my positive energies for you to realise your goals..

    We will succeed xx

mothernerd sorry to hear your sad news.

iwillsuceed hugs re your fil hope he gets better soon.

As for the sharing I have loved reading it all. I am 46 living in Scotland with dh and 2 sons aged 2 and 9 in a 3 bed semi. No pets.

Well stuck on 2 nsd this week which is a bit annoying. Wednesday needed a loaf, Thursday was the planned costco shop as th was in Glasgow and it made sense to pop in when he was there anyway, yesterday needed to get a smoked sausage cause I forgot on Saturday when I was shopping:mad:

Spend day planned today as well as going to buy ds1 a new bed, plus need to do my .weekly top up shop. No spending for 5 days planned as from Sunday. I thought 15 and would be easy to achieve too grrr.

    morning all,

sorry to hear about your cat mothernerd :(
hope FIL gets bettr soon iwillsuceed, sure he appreciates the visits

so on thursday i went into the city at lunch to do a few things and walked there and back and spent no money :A unfortunately i then cracked and spent £1.17 on crisps and choc at work

friday i was doing really well and ignoring all the treats someone had brought in for their bday but collection came round for colleague who is being made redundant so i put some money in then went to the shop again for crisps and sweets :wall:

have decided to not take purses to work anymore. will put cc in my bag for emergencies (it is a fee free one so if absolutely necessary i could withdraw cash and then transfer straight back so no fees). however i think even i will resist withdrawing cash to go to the shop and buy sweets :o

on the plus side, whilst i have bought way more from the work shop than i would like, its less than i used to and i have only been to the corner shop once this year for sweets :T can you tell i have a sugar addiction!!! defo need to give it up again as once i get a taste i can stop! :EasterBun

did salsa class thursday and walked to city for my exercise and yest i had a rest day. walking to city again and may try and go to gym later if time.

i have 5 mystery shops to do today inc free lunch (although im sure after doing the report i will wish i had just bought it!). did one last night as well after work :) one is at a supermarket so will do weekly shop whilst im there. bought a few bits in mr m last night so down to £9 of budget  it will come to more than that though and need a few more bits next weekend before payday :( have some food budget saved from previous months so will use that.

other than that i need to buy another cat collar and id barrel (for spare one as he is now wearing the last spare one!), bday card for 30th and a few stamps (will get at po so i dont need to buy a whole book). got two ink catridges to return to wilko as tried their own brand and both only printed a few pages  only got receipt for one so hope to get a voucher for the other which i can use on stuff i normally buy there. luckily i won a genuine cartridge on ebay for bargain price last week so currently using that. need to keep my eye out for another bargain one a they are £20 full price

Mothernerd - very sorry to hear about your cat. Enjoyed reading your post about saving for your house - you are very inspirational.

Me and DH bought our first house when we were 19, this isn't something I would recommend but living with my parents wasn't something I could do any longer, it was their house and that was made very clear, I couldn't use the bath when I wanted or make my own meals etc and could never have friends around. Having a mortgage at 19 with interest rates which beggar belief now was not easy but I could do whatever the devil I liked.

    Have a good Saturday everyone.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Mothernerd, at least you know she had a lovely life and you have been able to say good bye in a lovely way. You sound like an incredibly interesting lady with much life experience under her belt, I don't believe you have to go far to learn about life.
l've never had the urge to travel either, it was the reason why my ex and I spilt up because he wanted to travel and I just wanted to do teacher training. We both got to do what we wanted but it took me especially an incredibly long time to accept and move on from him. Still, it's been for the best because I'm happy with where I am now.

Yesterday as predicted was a SFD, no 5 this month. Tonight I am working an overtime shift 7pm-2am, I was regretting it last night but I know all this overtime is just going to help chip away at the debt! Am hoping to sign up for another shift next sunday so would mean an extra £100 this month.
Today isn't a SFD as I needed to get a swimsuit for DD as she is starting swimming lessons soon. We also have a birthday party to go to this afternoon and I am catching up on jobs in the meantime.
Hope everyone has a good day!
