Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

The work you're doing on the house is astonishing, Cheery - and on a holiday week, a lay in till 9 is essential *sometimes*, surely
Roses and teacakes, sigh ... perfection! Is the plaster getting towards perfect? Can you tell if your technique is better than when you started? I do admire you doing this amount of work, I really do.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks KC
Yes, I can certainly see an improvement in my plastering, although Im still nowhere near perfect
:rotfl: but it's definitely getting easier and the process smoother as I get more used to what needs doing, what tools I need where, how long things take and how long I can leave each stage for.
The biggest improvements came when I figured out how to use a paintbrush to smooth round the edges of the wallsI cringe when I look at the ones I did before that - I've had to go back and use filler on some of them! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Got two thirds of the way up the stairs wall today but I won't finish it now, I'm tired and my arms won't stand another couple of hoursGoing to clean everything up, hang the washing up, have a wash myself and then order a takeaway

Morning :hello:
Excited today - a friend is coming to help me with the plastering!! :j :j Of course, it's the final part of the final wall :rotfl: but cheery to have some help! :j
Going to collect her at 2.30, so got 5 hours before then. Planning to do mostly painting I think
- first top coat on bathroom cladding
- top coat on attic stairs
- finish mist coat on landing
- mist coat on bathroom
I also want to get back some semblance of order in the house  we"re in complete chaos again and have lost all sense of routines, ordinary cleaning, washing etc. We're eating mostly sandwiches and takeaways and I know for a fact there are disgustingly squishy carrots going off in the fridge  Goodness knows when the bedding was last changedalthough the final bits are drying now so I'll do that in the morning. We're having to step through piles of wood and nails and all manner of crap in bare feet to get into bed - not exactly glamourous, its like sleeping in a shed! :rotfl:
So I've been having a poke around the flylady website while I woke up and am going to try and get back to some vague type of routines to keep on top of the ordinary things a little so we don't go too mad0 -
It's not surprising the ordinary stuff has slipped - have a lovely time with your friend, though, don't let *that* slip2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I looked at flylady yesterday and have decided to go with the dot to dot method for my house. I seem to have piles of things on half the house surfaces. The other half of the hose is fine...the part we don't live in!
I think I'll join in on flylady to make myself somewhat accountable.
The tenacity of your plaster/paint work ethic has really impressed me! You get more done in a month than I do in a year. But then I am retired.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Thanks ladies
Flylady, like most things, works well for me when I actually do it :rotfl:
Plans didn't really go to plan as I spent SEVERAL HOURS sanding down my shoddy plasterwork in the bathroom. I did it in a rush thinking I'd just sand it later and I'm SO glad I haven't done that elsewhere as it was a right faff!
Didn't get a single thing painted in the end!! :rotfl: but friendcame round and we finished the plastering :j :j :j then she made us tea :j then I fell asleep in her living room while she and Mr Cheery had a long discussion about politics:rotfl:
Off to another friend's party in Wales tomorrow so no DIY - need to build bed in the car and create some kind of fancy dress outfit before we set off  :rotfl:0 -

Well done Cherry!!! You must be so relieved!:T:T:T4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
:hello:
No Greying, I did NOT sneak off to parkrun on top of that :rotfl: :rotfl: I've been sorting out YNAB and banks - have rounded up savings account to nice round number (see sig) :j :j All good. And I seem to have achieved most of my July goals so that's nice :j :j
I am indeed relieved RT :j :j Although there are still about a million things left to do of course
But not this morning! Have done banks and had breakfast, and just figuring out directions while the kettle boils again
Then I need to
- wash up
- empty compost and recycling
- sweep kitchen floor
- pack
- get 3 bags of woodchip out of the car (forgot about that!)
- remove back seats
- clean out plaster dust/crap/gardening residue from tip trip
- find futon and put in car
- find spare bedding (or poach off bed)
- figure out a couple of fancy dress outfits :rotfl:
Probably be setting off about teatime then0 -
Well we did in fact set off about 4pm :rotfl: but we had the most gorgeous relaxing time and again it made me want to live somewhere away from it all (perhaps not *quite* as isolatec as being 2.5 miles up a gravel track on the side of a mountain mind you!)
Back to working reality now though, although I'm having trouble readjusting and remembering what to actually *do* at work:rotfl: Not sure week off, week in, week off again is a good strategy amd I'm feeling quite discombobulated and useless this week! :rotfl:
Still, sneaked off for a nice cuppa with Mr Cheery this morning so best go and do something useful now I suppose...0
