Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

Thanks KC
Had a GREAT sleep actuallyDespite being on the computer all evening (and all day  ) I just felt really well rested.
last night was the first time in AGES I'd just go completely absorbed in something, didn't think AT ALL about work, neighbours, new job, housework, to do lists, Mr Cheery or anything :j Just singing along, doing what I was doing :j :j
I'd forgotten how important it is to do that sometimes!
Nice day planned today :j Meeting someone I've not seen for a couple of years in town so I'll get a few more Christmas presents while I'm there :j :j
Home by lunchtime, then swimming, bit of house pottering ready for my mum, then an evening in with Mr Cheery :j
Might do some batch cooking, might notMight make my mum a birthday cake - but might leave that up to the good ladies at the WI in the morning...

That sounds wonderful, Cheery! Absorbed in the moment - its very precious.
So are the ladies of the WI, mind you2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
They are indeed :j :j Mind you, my mother has just informed me that she'll be arriving around 10.15 tomorrow morning  so I won't have time to go to the WI if I also do the parkrun as I planned...
Ah well, her loss:rotfl: We're going out for lunch (and cake) so we probably don't also need cake in the house!
Had a lovely day :j Nice amble into town, cheery chat with friend (who also works for my new employer so I was picking his brains) then ambled round getting some more Christmas shopping :j :j Seem to have bought SO much stuff, but didn't get a single carrier bag :j :j
(oh, and I also seem to have bought myself a new coat, and a large textbook relating to my new job :rotfl: :rotfl: Both less than £5 in charity shops though! :money: )
Had lunch and a sit down with tv and crochet for an hour :j :j and now I'm ready to get up and start buttling around for an hour :j
So, on the list for this afternoon...
* change our sheets
* hoover upstairs
* hoover downstairs
* 15 mins in attic - bring down the bag of rubbish, make sure everything's straight for mum
* wipe attic stairs (a surprising amount of tea gets spilt on them! :rotfl: )
* clear wood and tools out of bathroom
* 15 mins in entrance (get rid of boxes into cellar, sweep up the weeds I pulled up yesterday now they've dried, bring in some sage to hang to dry)
* take Christmas presents upstairs and hide necessary ones
Er, I think that's it :j Mr Cheery should be home at 5, and said he'd put the boxes in the cellar then, so I'll leave that for him and get on with cooking us some tea :j :j
Back in a bit! :j0 -
Well I WAS going to tell you about our exciting day - but sadly MSE wouldn't let me log in (how had I managed to log OUT?!), and I've spent a good half an hour (when admittedly I should have been asleep) trying to reset password on phone
No doubt stupid phone will now remember old password and we'll have the same fiasco tomorrow
Suffice to say we had a nice (if expensive  ) day, ending with a carol concery in a cave:j :j Christmas tree is now up (after two hours of fixing, sawing, mending, electrical fiddling) although it only has lights on - got too tired and abandoned the rest to tomorrow
SO windy up here in the attic, fearing I might blow away :eek:0 -
Morning :hello:
Apologies for my *slight* midnight tantrum:rotfl: Phone was getting unusably slow the other day so fiddled about with a lot of the settings etc (and made it MUCH better :j ) but seem to have logged myself out of everything. Most websites ok - but MSE wouldn't let me log back in, and now won't save my new password, so every time I try to look on my phone I have to log in AGAIN! Silly thing.
Anyway...
Lovely day yesterday :j My mum came over for her birthday, went out for lunch at a cheery little cafe by a mill :j and watched some ducksthen pottered to Matlock and wandered round the 'Victorian Christmas Market' - although what was either Victorian or Christmassy about it I'm not really sure, except for the pipe organ at the entrance... Cheery though
Then we pottered off to this
http://peakcavern.co.uk/general/christmas-carol-concerts-2014/
which was exceedingly cheerful, if rather chilly  Only found it when idly looking through 'things to do' website in the morning - which I don't usually do, just wanted to see if there was anything specific with it being mum's birthday. She loved it!Gosh it was cold :rotfl: but we'd taken blankets and were well wrapped up
Excellent fun :j :j :j
All in all NOT a very frugal day, not least as I paid for everything we did (birthday treats of course!). But still, I don't see her that often, and when we do we very rarely do anything other than tea and cake, so it was a nice treat.
Everyone else still in bed so I just tackled the exploding receipt mountain in my purse from yesterday and Christmas shopping on Friday  Took a while, but everything pretty much tallied :j :j Lost £3.01 along the way to budget fiddling category (didn't actually LOSE it, probably just bought some small present from a market stall with no receipt, or put it in a charity box, or something...) but considering how much I actually spent in how many different places, £3.01 isn't bad :rotfl:
More sedate day today I thinkOut for brunch with mother and Mr Cheery this morning, then Mr Cheery's friend is coming round later, then a meeting tonight. Only spends should be brunch, and we're not going anywhere expensive, and I've just had the world's biggest bowl of porridge so probably won't have anything other than tea :rotfl:
Hope you're all jolly and didn't blow away last night  Our house was making some VERY alarming creaking noises   But fortunately seems to still be standing :j0 -
I'm definitely glad the house is still standing
that's always a good thing. Your day yesterday sounds fab, Cheery, and so does brunch out, actually. Hope the rest of the day today is as good
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks :kisses3:
Nice brunch at the farmand we've finished putting the baubles on the tree :j :j Mum only broke one :rotfl:
Mr Cheery's friend is here now, and we've eaten quite a bit of baklava
And got my sister's present in the post (present for US, that is :j ) - an ace yankee candle advent carousel thing, with a different yankee candle behind each window :j Today's scent is 'winter snow' - and obviously we've still got a few days left to catch up on too:j How lovely!
Tired now:rotfl: Mum's gone so I might just curl up for a bit - 3 hours til I have to go out again

Flylady day 27
And surprisingly, even though my mum's been here and Mr Cheery's friend's not long gone, I've managed to do some batch cooking to stick some meals in the freezerCan't remember the last time I did that!!
Spurred on by eating a few pieces of baklavaVery tasty, but I didn't have any lunch, and I REALLY want to get my half stone award at slimming world this week
It's been TEN WEEKS for goodness sake, so it's about time!
:rotfl:
Anyway, done some carrot and swede mashfor a quick tea if we end up with some veggie sausages :j
Got a couple of pasta bakes in the oven now which I'll parcel up into individual portions that I can bung in the microwave (or take to work and bung in the microwave there).
Just going to do a big pan of rice (to go in bags in the freezer, and make some kind-of-kedgeree for tonight) and a pan of curry.
So basically, if all goes to plan, we could get away without cooking much at all this week:rotfl:

Morning chums :hello:
Nothing much to reportGot home about 8pm last night and somehow found myself in bed at 8.30
:rotfl: So I'm quite well rested this morning
:rotfl: :rotfl:
YNAB done, advent calendars opened, dentist on ringback (yes, AGAIN - it's a lot better than it was and the hole's healed over by my gum is still swollen and sore, still can't eat on that side or clean my teeth properly  Want it sorted before Christmas, and certainly before I start new job!!)
Flylady day 28 for me:j :j Today she says...
Many times when we can’t seem to get going, it is because
we are not taking care of ourselves by eating right, drinking
our water, taking breaks, or getting enough sleep. As part of
your routines, remind yourself to eat good food, drink your
water, take a break, and get your rest.
We are so busy taking care of everyone else
that we forget to take care of ourselves. Don’t put yourself
on the back burner. Take breaks! Set your timer and read
something fun for 15 minutes. I promise the world will not
fall apart! You are just recharging your batteries. You can
do anything for 15 minutes
Don't think I've had a problem with getting enough sleep today :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
This week's zone is the kitchen, so I'm off to do 15 mins wiping kitchen doors and possibly even reorganising a shelf before I start work :j0 -
I did a LOT of house-type pottering over the weekend but pretty much did it all in 15 minutes bursts, with "me" stuff in between - it really does work, doesn't it!
Hopefully this will be the final time at the dentist getting this tooth/face thing sorted. Definitely ideal to get it sorted before you start the new job, at the worst!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
