    Morning :hello:

Day 17 of flylady babysteps for me, and today's new thing is to go to bed at a decent hour :D NOT something I'm brilliant at - I'd love to and often try to but Mr Cheery is a night owl and I often stay up later than I would to keep him conpany.

I do aim for bed at 10.30 on nights I'm in York and get up at 6.30am, although last night it was 12.30  so I'm a bit weary this morning :rotfl:

Journey started well - bus got stuck behind a fire engine so I got off and legged it to station - only to find train is delayed by 15 mins anyway :rotfl:

Ah well, never seems to matter as much on the way TO work... :rotfl:

Just had a bit of a clear out of purse, several old train tickets (of course), out of dateBoots vouchers (mostly extra points for stuff I wouldn't buy anyway) and gah!! i've missed my John Lewis free tea and cake!! I'm planning christmas shopping tomorrow so I could have used it but sadly it runs out today!

Bit annoying as I spend so little in there I only get about three a year :D :rotfl:

Oh bother! I've missed a couple of free vouchers myself this year, tres annoying :D

Do you know what you're shopping for, when you go?

And when you clear out your purse and you're on the train, where do you put the stuff? Enquiring minds want to know :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Er, thats a good question :D I actually shoved it in the front pocket of my bag :rotfl: which clearly I'll have to sort out later :rotfl: but at least then I can just grab the whole lot and chuck it in one go :D

If I'd had any sense I could have chucked it in the bin with my pear core on the way off the train but, er... clearly I don't :rotfl:

As for Christmas shopping, I normally make a list, and I do know what I want for some people, but this year I'm trying a new approach of trying to do it all in one go

I usually agonise over trying to get everyone the perfect gift, leave it too late cos I'm fretting, end up with something I'm not particularly happy about...

So this year I've got a list of people, and a few ideas, but I'm just going to go to town and buy things as I see them, as soon as I think 'so and so would like that', even if it's not the very perfect thing. This is what most of my family do anyway! :D

I've got to be somewhere else by 3pm too so I'll need to leave town by 1.30 - a nice deadline! Ignoring Mr Cheery's presents mind you, I'll do his another day....

Good question though, thanks for asking! :D Always intrigued at how other people manage such things too :D

    Excellent answer :j:j:j

I do Christmas shopping in different ways each year :o at the moment its all about online shopping, either Amazon or click and collect. Previously, I've gone into *one* shop and just thrown money at everything :rotfl: and got myself a bit of a reputation in the family as well, as there was a witness :rotfl:

I like the idea of a deadline too, and 1.30 is a good time to get out of the city centre, Saturday afternoon Christmas shopping is my idea of a nightmare

  • I made a start on my shopping yesterday - spotted that Amazon had a list of "CD's under a fiver" so added a couple of those that I knew MrEH would like to my basket, then a couple of DVD's that I knew he wanted, and MiL's Rick Stein book that she wants to take it over £20 and get free delivery. :D It's a start!

Well this will be Friday, not Saturday, but I have been informed today that it will not be just any old Friday, but BLACK FRIDAY!  and therefore utter chaos  :rotfl:

However, had a chat with my sister who loves last minute Christmas shopping in the crowds (I know this isn't last minute!) and have decided to embrace it as a cultural experience, knowing there's still plenty of time to get everything if I can't hack it :D

Online is probably the way to go, yes :D However I am not that organised :D Quite often do things online but for some reason this year I just can't summon the enthusiasm yet :o :rotfl: We'll see what tomorrow brings...

I did just buy a couple of small bits in Aldi though :D Just chocolate coins to go with the nephews' presents, and some sweet things for my mum. It is indeed a start :D

(bought myself some new socks too :j Having cleaned out my sock drawer I realised just how many of them were getting rather threadbare or had lost their mates!)

So - YNAB done ready for tomorrow (good job as purse was entirely full of receipts :rotfl: ) Have checked the weather and it's going to be quite vile, and I have no sensible waterproof coat, so I might not last long :D Will trot off now and organise myself some bags etc to take :j and perhaps a snack or two so I don't land up resorting to cakes :D

    Right.

    * Breakfast and tea consumed
    * bag packed with reusable bags, purse, drink and healthy snacks :D
    * Handbag I bought in TK Maxx the other week packed ready to return - I just don't like it *enough* - most unlike me to do this :o:o
    * £2 coins bagged to go in the bank :D
    * podcasts on MP3 player for the walk into town

Er, I don't think I can put it off any longer! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Home by 1.30 - ready, steady.... GO! :rotfl: :rotfl:
