Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

I believe she does say that you can have a special pair that you just wear in the house
Like slippers - but the point is you're ready for anything, not just lounging around
But if you need an excuse I'd say that's as good a one as any
Nobody takes shoes off here, socks go black :rotfl: Peter hates taking shoes off in houses so we'll never have that as a rule :rotfl: just have to hoover more often :rotfl: (or not)
I work at home and find if I wear my slippers I don't get much done at all - much easier to make scary phone calls in shoes too :rotfl:
Funny how wr're all differentI'm definitely into slippers as soon as I've finished pottering for the day though :j But I do find if I don't get dressed before breakfast, I don't tend to get dressed til lunchtime so maybe she's onto something... :rotfl:

Ahh I can see the point if you're a working at home person like you are - yes. God knows why I'm so off the shoes idea anyway to be honest - our carpets are pretty much past the point of saving...in fact I was eyeing up the hallway with a view to getting a price for laminate flooring just the other day...
(MrEH doesn't know about that, yet!)
Anyway - I now have flylady website windows open in my browser and am considering having a shiny sink by the time I got o bed tonight. SEE what you've done...?! SEE?!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: sorry
I've just put some washing on and fitted a new toilet seatHad it for ages for when we'd finished the decorating in there - old one had a crack down the front and plaster on the lid :rotfl:
But crack has reached epic proportions and there was a serious danger of a delicate body part getting trapped in there   Mr Cheery started takig the old one off the other day but got distracted so I've just finished it off and the old one is now in the bin :j
Can't wait for lunchtime to eat my leftover curryAnd then 3pm for the dentist :j Today is just one exciting thing after another
:rotfl:

What a day you've had! Well done on the toilet seat especially
and here's to body parts staying whole
Mmmmm, how did the dentist go? You okay?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I'm alright thanks KC
He cleaned out the hole again, stuffed full of clovey stuff again, and said it looked like it was starting to heal over, thank goodness!! It does feel a *little* better today, fingers crossed... I'm being a lot more careful with this dressing (although he said I didn't have to) and am going to work at home tomorrow too in case it needs replacing - don't want to get ANY more food stuck in that hole!
He said he could see quite a lot of the bone, which has been exposed to air/tea/food all week - no wonder it's been sore! :eek:0 -
Oh good heavens - had a reply from the supermarket I complained to the other day
'The staff behaviour you describe is unacceptable and falls significantly below the standards of customer service we insist on.
I am very sorry that you have had such a poor experience and have forwarded your complaint to this store’s Operations Manager for thorough investigation. This investigation is now complete.
The outcome of this investigation is that the following actions will be put in place to address the issue raised :
Staff Training will be revisited
All staff will be briefed on the correct procedure
I am going to send Saving stamps to the value of £10.00 to apologise for the poor service that you have experienced.
I do feel slightly guilty about giving the staff member's name :eek:But then he was being an idiot! And I'm not entirely sure I deserve savings stamps
especially given that the service I personally was receiving was fine, it was the other bloke (and all the other customers in the vicinity :rotfl: ) who were missing out
Ah well0 -
What happened went way beyond acceptable, Cheery - you're just going to have to get used to being right
Erm, you're also right about how sore you were. Seeing bone, a lot of bone _pale__pale__pale_ good idea to work from home today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Of course, I'm often right
Just not very good at believing it
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Daring to think that face is a *little* less sore this morning... Woke at 3 and was going to take some more painkillers, but fell asleep again before I worked myself up to sitting up :rotfl: Still not taken any and while it's sore, it's nowhere near the levels it has been. Might actually be getting somewhere... :j :j (will still take painkillers today though, need to actually get some work done and no point needlessly suffering!)
Flylady babysteps Day 10 (are you getting bored yet?!) :rotfl: which means:
Morning routine
- dressed to shoes
- 2 mins clearing a hot spot
- 5 mins room rescue
Before bed
- clothes for tomorrow
- shine sink
- 2 mins clearing a hot spot
Extra task today of spending 15 mins collecting all the rubbish in the house and taking it outside. Got a couple of actual bins to empty, and the recycling, but there's also a mostly-filled bag of rubbish in the attic, and another one that Mr Cheery's been filling in the workshop. We'll need to start those again at some point but it'll create a bit of space in the meantime! :j :j
Today's missions are
(1) make a list of bathroom stuff we've run out of (only bubble bath and that's hardly essential - that was a short list!)
(2) change the sheets in the spare room (wouldn't usually bother with this, but I vacuum packed the attic duvet yesterday, so the one that's on there is the one out of the car, which smells a bit, er, diesely:rotfl: Will do that later :j :j
Also going to make a QUICK run down to Wickes in a minute before I start work for some stuff to go round the bath - I've got sealant but it's a HUGE gap between the tiles and I found sealant really difficult last time so this time it's getting a upvc thingy :j Will seal that tonight :j
(oh, and some actual work, of course :rotfl: ) 17 working days left!
Have a cheery one all :j :j0 -
EssexHebridean wrote: »My issue with FlyLady is - and has always been - this issue of "getting dressed to shoes" - NO. The first thing I do when I come into the house is take my shoes OFF - although I'm not one of those people who insists others do it too - most of my friends are well housetrained enough to know that if their shoes are muddy they ought to take them off anyway, and if not it doesn't matter - but the idea of actually putting shoes ON to walk round the house....no. Just wrong.
That's my excuse....
I used to be the same but then I got a lump on the bottom of my foot and couldn't put my foot flat on the floor barefooted. (Well I say barefooted, I mean in socks obviously as my feet are always so cold!) so I started wearing shoes around the house (all laminate/tiled floors downstairs) as I could walk normally in shoes. Eventually went to the chiropodist who sorted it out and now I can't get out of the habit of taking my shoes off again!!
I do agree with Cheery though. I tend to get a lot more done if I'm "dressed to shoes" at home than if I'm not so I can see why it's so importantGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Glad the face is feeling a bit better today lovely - about time too, and let's hope this dressing stays in place!
Full marks to the supermarket for sorting you out some savings stamps - it might well not be you that was directly affected by the chap's rudeness and poor service but you were the one that put yourself out to bring it to their attention. I had to complain in Tesco AGAIN about the checkout operators not knowing how to work with our ClubCard+ - it's a training issue which I've complained about several times before but this time it lead to us having to stand there for 15 minutes while they cancelled every item off the bill one at a time, refunded the lot, then put it all through again. The checkout supervisor went off and came back with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers for me by way of an apology.
