Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

That's it exactly KC. Paperwork doesn't legally have to be done, it'll just make things more straightforward and mean mr cheery doesn't have to speak to an estate agent :rotfl:
And don't be too sad about the house I didn't post - Mr Cheery didn't approve :rotfl: It was RIGHT on the pavement, not even a small sliver of garden at the front so not ideal, and back garden although cheery was mostly 3 levels of paved terrace.
Still, there'll be other places. It reassured me that there ARE cheery detatched places tucked away in the city anyway! :j
Mr Cheery currently trying to fix printer, which turned itself off the other day and has refused to turn back on ever since. I fear the worst, but he's more persistant than me with such matters so is having a go before i run out to get us a new one. It's over 10 years old so not done too badly out of it! :rotfl:0 -
:hello: waves at Cheery (who may have forgotten who I am it has been so long since I posted on here
)
I can't see how your name not being on the deeds would stop you talking to the estate agent instead of Mr C. I've dealt with many of them and they've never asked anything about who I am. Solicitors yes (and much further down the line) but estate agents no.
Don't let that put things off. Sounds v exciting!0 -
:hello: LHG, I have indeed NOT forgotten who you are
Nice to see you
Well, that is indeed good to know :j :j Thank you
Feeling rather sorry for myself hereFelt quite sick driving back last night, didn't sleep very well and kept getting up thinking I was going to throw up
I didn't, but felt like a wet dishcloth this morning so called in sick. Spent the whole day so far lying along the sofa watching the sunshine move round the room.
No idea what's wrong with me but hopefully it'll pass! Feel better already, don't really feel sick any more, just really really feeble.
Ah well, stuffing in an oatcake with cheese now so hopefully that'll give me some strength
Been looking at houses (on the laptop) with Mr CheeryAlso been hatching plots of what we could do with this place if we stayed here (soundproofing the party wall being the main thing :rotfl: and also extending the kitchen, converting the cellar, putting a proper fence round the garden....) We could do a few of those things now with savings, and then save up for the rest so there'd be no need for a loan at all...
We do love it here, and Mr Cheery is adamant that he is NOT moving just because of the neighbours - he's been here 25 years and has never heard any before, this lot are just young and have non-9-5 lives and are behaving like teenagers, forgetting to use 'indoor voices' and slamming doors at all hours
Anyway, he's right, can't go moving out of a place we like just because of that. Of course, there are other advantages...
Going to carry on as planned with putting my name on the house deeds :j
Then get this place valued so we know what we're looking at.
Then keep an eye out for new places while at the same time pottering round making improvements to this place - starting with soundproofing and a fence round the garden :j Whatever we do will make it easier to sell, and nicer to live in, so wins all round
And now I need another lie down...:rotfl:

Quite right too! Soundproofing is a good option, and the efficiency is startling. Though I'd love a detached house just for it being detached
and yes, the things you'll do add quality of life for you, and add to attractiveness if you *do* sell. I'd certainly want a fence round the garden, its lovely to chat with the neighbours, but if you want privacy, then a fence is the way to go.
Sorry you've been feeling ill like that, Cheery, sounds like something you ate might have been a bit off? Cheese and oatcake sound like just the thing2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well I did have a rather large helping of home made toblerone cheesecake...
but I'm normally pretty robust when it comes to cake
Who knows. I've got cornflakes now - my 'I don't feel well' food of choice
Trying to decide about tomorrow. Planned to go to York, but I don't NEED to be in the office, no meetings etc. However I left my laptop there on Friday - I could use my own at home but it's a bit more of a faff. Sometimes I'm more effective when I'm in the office, especially if I'm feeling a bit rough
Not sure all that travelling is sensible after feeling so rough today, but I reckon I'll be able to actually *work* tomorrow. We'll see I suppose...0 -
Well I am in fact feeling MUCH better today, and working at home :j And I left my work laptop at work, but have managed to connect my home one to the system so can access everything I need to (which is making me think I don't need to carry work one back and forth all the time...)
Neighbours woke us up at 3.30am again  However, I managed to get brave enough to actually TEXT and ask them to be quiet, and received a very apologetic message back saying they didn't realise how loud they were being and then - instant silence :j :j :j
Don't want to have to do this every time, but hopefully it'll make them think and at least they respond nicely to it - they are a nice bunch after all
Right, best crack on!0 -
:hello: Cheery. Gosh you do sound sensible. Only moving IF you find somewhere you both like, not rushing into it, not moving if you don't find anywhere! It's so easy to get carried away with R1ghtM0ve! Well done both of you for being so sensible.
I'm just having a quick catch up after a couple of days of not being on here.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Awww! They're just young and nice after all! Thats very sweet.
I'm glad you feel okay today - but its worth staying home to work, when your commute is so long.
Starnac, you okay?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Starnac, you okay?
Yes thank you. I'm feeling very good today. Actually I know you'll appreciate this (if Cheery doesn't mind me going off topic for a minute) For lent I decided instead of giving something up I would do 40 Random Acts of Kindness. I'm a week in and I've been on the receiving end of 2 RAOK myself! So I'm feeling very happy at the moment.
How are you KC?Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
of COURSE I don't mind you going off topic Starnac! :kisses3: Any excuse for a chat
Your lent project sounds wonderful, and how great that other people are being kind back to you! :j :j
:hello: Cheery. Gosh you do sound sensible.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Goodness me, I laughed out loud at that:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But you're right - as much as I dream and create schemes and hatch plots and plans, and as much as I like to think of myself as a free spirited type, going where the wind takes me, underneath it all I'm pretty down to earth and sensible
:rotfl:
Especially with this - moving seems an ENORMOUS amount of effort and hassle, so I shan't be doing it unless there's a guarantee of something FAR more cheerful at the end!
Right, got to make a scary phone callbeen putting it off
Actually told the woman I'd ring her yesterday but was off sick so I didn't - but she doesn't know that, so is probably thinking I'm unreliable
MUST go and ring now (although I might pop to the loo first
) :rotfl:
