How on earth did I manage that? It must read very oddly. Never mind, I'll pretend its all
:rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I shouldn't worry KC - nobody else seemed to notice and I knew what you were talking about anyway so all good
:rotfl:
Had a lovely day :j :j Mr Cheery's old school pal stayed over last night, I fell asleep on the sofa while they nattered and when I woke at 3am to go to bed put a loaf in the bread machineSO nice to get up to fresh bread, I really must do that more often
Been for a potter round the local shops today, and then to Buxton - bought a new top, new purple dress (well, 'new' to me from charity shops, that is) and a pair of thermal leggings£16 for all three, not too bad :j
Stopped in a cafe to talk about houses. Upshot is that Mr Cheery likes it here but is happy to move - IF (and only if) we can find the right house. So we will NOT be putting ours on the market and then scrambling to find somewhere. Instead we'll be looking for somewhere perfect and then shoving ours up priced for a quick sale.
I know there's disadvantages of doing it this way round, not least that we might find the perfect house and then lose it cos we can't sell ours :rotfl: However, that is better than selling ours then rushing to find somewhere quickly and it not being the right place, and having to move again. There'll be more than one perfect place out there, and if there isn't, we'll just stay here
SO... plan of action:
* tidy up (literally just tidying and cleaning) and get a free valuation on this place in the next 3-4 weeks :j At least then we know price range we're looking at, and they can advise us about whether to bother with DIY related things or not.
* Keep raking through RightMove and go and see anywhere we think might be a good fit
In the meantime we'll keep throwing all available dosh into the Patchwork fund - the longer it takes us to move, the more we'll have sitting there
Feels good to have sat down and talked it through properly - I probably would have got completely carried away:rotfl:
Right - off to look at some houses again0 -
Sounds very sensible, Cheery, to chuck money into the fund, have a good old tidy up, and see where you are on a potential selling price - I always underestimate that, so thats always essential for me to do ...
Um, can I ask what the basis of the move is? What are you looking for? When you're not looking for houseporn, that isApart from the paddock for Lula's imaginary horses
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well, yes, apart from the paddock for Lula's imaginary horses :rotfl:
It's a fairly mixed list, of practical and airy-fairy things
Current non-negotiable things are:
* detached
* no smaller than this one
* garden (NOT overlooked by road (and preferably not much by neighbours) with room for chickens and potential for small dog some time in the future
Also important:
* within walking/cycling distance of mainline train station
* good hanging-out-in space
Other than that, we're pretty open to suggestion, although I imagine we'll be quite picky (probably in different ways) with everything we see and refine our list as we go along
Right, off to have a look see if there's anything new
Will be back if I find any particularly exciting ones for you to have a look at :rotfl:0 -
Ooooh, look
Look at that view and those windows!! And there's TWO living room type things with giant patio doors out onto balcony/garden :j Oooh... And it's close enough (just) to be able to cycle to the station, and even to do tram if necessary in the winter...
slightly... above price rangebut if we bumped Mr Cheery off the mortgage application and did it over 25 years they'd give it to us...
Hmm, look at me going back on my own agreements already! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
actually, after a brief chat, we will NOT be doing that  :rotfl: Lovely as it is, we DO NOT WANT TO STRETCH OURSELVES and I DO NOT WANT TO STILL BE PAYING THE MORTGAGE WHEN I'M 60
(just shouting to remind myself:rotfl: )
However... I have just found a perfect house, which I'm not going to share on here as when Mr Cheery gets out of the bath I might talk him into going to view it on Monday  Extremely cheery, meets all requirements, and I love the area it's in :j :j
Best find me rubber gloves and start cleaning this place just in case  :rotfl:0 -
Ah, of course things are never straightforward.
We never actually sent off the forms to change Mr Cheery's name on the deeds, or add me to them... so we'd have to do that first, or else he's going to have to do all the talking to estate agents to sell this place, and I promised him he'd never have to speak to one ever again:rotfl: :rotfl:
Best stop looking and getting all overexcited til that's sorted out!0 -
Humph.
At completely the other end of the financial scale - I went 2 days without reconciling YNAB things and I seem to have lost £11.49
That's £16.49 I've had to put through as 'budget fiddling' this month cos I couldn't figure out what I'd done with it!
Either I'm buying things and not putting them in the app (possible...:rotfl: ) or I can't count (also possible...
:rotfl: )
Must do better! :rotfl:0 -
Oh my! Thats huge! But blimey, finding the paperwork isn't completed has brought a cautionary note, grrrrrrrrr. At least its fixable ... what a shame you found such a good one, the one you *didn't* post. At least you found the paperwork thing out *now*, before you made an offer. I know what you mean about stopping looking - its good to get an idea of whats available, and what the prices are, but do it too much and it just feels wasteful of your time. Did to me, anyway.
Good luck!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
