Have received the same letter as everybody else (for an "offence" which occurred over a year ago).
January is a quiet month, so I suspect that CEL have just decided to do a mailshot to their whole database in the hope that some more people will send them money. I shall continue to file their letters and ignore them.Philip0 -
Well start by complaining to the BPA about this, using the email address in the NEWBIES thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi, Have also received a letter from Civil Enforcement Ltd stating that the debt had been passed onto Debt Enforcement and Action Ltd. After reading many Threads about this outfit and the totally unprofessional way in which it managed the car park at Whitby Coop I am, for now, going to ignore it. I do though intend to write to the Coop to let them know that customers are still being hounded by this companyscousedicko wrote: »They'll get "Dynamo" to conjure it up!0 -
Yep - everyone should complain to the Co-op - seeing as these complaints are very successful (as shown in the sticky thread 'Successful complaints about PPCs' and discussed loads of times). The Co-op apologise and send vouchers sometimes. And you can STILL ignore the scam because CEL don't have a case that would be enforceable in court against a keeper.
In any complaint DO NOT identify the driver!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hello
Can someone please help me. I received a parking charge notice from civil enforcement ltd back in July 2012 I think it was n I have now received this letter saying the debt is assigned to debt enforcement and action ltd. i have ignored all letters but it says the law changed a year ago and that you shouldn't pay but don't ignore the letters. What do I do? Do I contact them or keep ignoring because the 'debt' was issued before the law changed!?!
I don't know what to do!0 -
Please start your OWN new thread.
And whilst doing so, please read the NEWBIES sticky thread.0 -
I also received the same letter last week, after a lull of about a year - just filed it with the rest. It is very reassuring to know that this is just another standard letter from the same cowboys. What I find even more incredulous is that people who received these parking charges from the co-op are still customers! I had been a customer at our local shop for almost 50 years, but will never step foot in a co-op store ever again. I cancelled my membership and at least have the satisfaction of knowing that they are the biggest losers.0

Got the same letter myself and binned it without a thought. Should have kept it I guess but as its for a car that doesn't exist any more at a house the registered owner (Wife) no longer lives at (Wife's parents) I just ignored it. Daft chasing this up after a year and a half. Never go to the Coop in hedge end any more. I hate to think what this daftness costs the CO-OP...0

You need to read the NEWBIES thread which calls to you to 'read it first' at the top of the forum:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
It helps us not to have to repeat what you can easily read first, there. Post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread has a whole section on your options at debt collector stage.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I too have received this letter from Civil Enforcement , advising me that 87.5% of my "debt" has been assigned to a company called Debt Enforcement and Actions Ltd.
I'm presuming that it is a scam, and yet another attempt to get me to pay this supposed fine. I am going to stay the course and ignore their attempts to extort money out of me.
Its true the company is only incorporated in January 2014. Surly if this was legal Civil Enforcement would seek the help of a local debt management company (In this case in Northern Ireland) and not one based in London and yet again not one that has only been trading a month?????
Hang in there people.0
