Have You Had a Psychic Read?

This always intrigues me as for my entire life I've thought it utter bunkum.
When a friend decided to have her hen do at a psychic night I really wasn't looking forward to it.
She told me someone from my past would get in touch with a gift that I wouldn't want and it would open doors I'd prefer left closed. She also said that the birth of a baby would cause me great tears, but eventually they'd be a source of joy.
So could be bunkum that my Grandmother left gifts in her will that opened doors for my father. I hadn't seem any of them since I was a child and didn't want too. My OH also had a baby with someone else whilst we were separated which I was devastated about, but now the lo is part of our family.
I still mostly think it's bunkum. I just don't vocalise it as loud just in case it's not :rotfl:0 -
No, I have never had a reading. I am the one DOING the reading. I read Tarot. I am also a Reiki Master Practitioner. I don't advertise - people come to me. I don't charge - so cannot be accused of making money out of vulnerable people. I don't cold read or tell people frightening things - I act responsibly at all times. I worked as a Reiki Therapist for a cancer support charity for many years - I know how to behave professionally and was fully insured etc.
Now I shall sit back and watch the abuse!
Kudos to your honesty & bravery:beer:0 -
Reiki is a 'Complementary Therapy'. NOT an 'alternative' treatment to modern medicine. as such, it is earning a place in many Hospitals, Hospices and Support Charities.
NO properly trained Reiki Therapist would suggest otherwise.0 -

Properly trained?, does that still equate to you handing over a bunch of cash whilst a hippy "taps ancient and healing symbols into your feet" so you are attuned?
It all seemed like a scam to me, Get your Master "Qualification" then you can charge £400 a go, for a bit of foot tapping.0 -
I have - many years ago when several work colleagues used to go regularly to this woman.
My life was pretty atypical at the time and she just tossed out observations that were very wrong in relation to me personally - but would probably have been seized on by a 'believer' or some with a more typical life as 'the truth'.
In the end, I told her she was talking rubbish and was a charlatan and she could keep my money but I'd tell everyone I met what crap she'd told me.
She certainly didn't see that coming. :rotfl:0 -
I read tarot cards for friends and family.
I don't read them to predict the future, I read them to make the person more aware of emotions and feelings.
I find it helps me to read people and their emotions, for example when I give the meaning of the card, I can tell by their physical and facial reaction how that card is affecting them.
I then use the other cards to indicate ways of dealing with the issue I have previously asked them to think about.
My stepdad taught me tarot reading and he was a firm believer in spirituality, not ghosts or mediums but the spirituality we hold inside ourselves.
He was previously a member of the divine light mission and believed we all hold the key to happiness inside ourselves, we just need to learn how to use it.
When I do a reading I make it clear I am not psychic, I'm not going to predict the future, I'm just helping them to realise, express and use their inner emotions to resolve issues.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I once went on a tarot reading course. I was bored witless within half an hour so started to make things up. The more fantastic they got, the more the person running the course was impressed. One reading had elephants, hazelnuts and motorways in it!
Load of rubbish!!0 -
"Reiki training" now that is funny, the lot of them are shamballa scammers.
All reiki is is channelling energy. Ive done reiki courses and I know of people who have had reiki treatments when they were dying of cancer and it helped them with pain relief.
I did reiki and other complementary therapies for free for young people who were suffering from drug and alcohol problems, it can help relieve stress and when people are detoxing they can get very stressed. Many treatments such as auricular acupuncture are used in places such as rehabs. Reiki is very similar to spiritual healing which can take years to train in and cost an absolute fortune, Id much rather take a reiki training than pay thousands of pounds to become a spiritual healer when all you are doing is channeling the same energy.
There are complementary therapies that have been used for thousands of years in one form or other.
People dont need to believe in it, but it doesnt make people who attune others to reiki scammers. Again, some companies charge way too much, but there are other people whose reiki course are reasonable and if a reiki treatment does help someone, then good.
My mum had a shoulder injury that physio did nothing for but a couple of reiki treatments and she had flexibility in her shoulder that she hadnt had for ages.
Many GPs actively support different complementary therapies, reiki being one of them.0 -

The point of many visiting psychics is to get reassurance about the future. I asked one "psychic" on this board for a read and because I said I was a doubter and had a poor read before from someone else she refused to do a read on me.
It's all rubbish.0 -
