You might as well ask me what I get out of it helping people with their computer problems for free, or helping hem fix their cars for free. They are things I can do (cars are my hobby and computers are my work) and I'm happy to do them for people I like without asking for any recompense other than a cup of tea while I work. Why wouldn't I? And how is someone who believes they have have a psychic ability using that ability any different?

I have no idea what skills you have, but don't you ever help out people using those skills without charging for your time?
