Same as you here in Devon. I think it unlikely prices will fall now as more people cave-in and buy as the weather becomes colder and nights draw in.

Best thing to do is insulate as much as possible and use any free sources of heat. Right now, our conservatory is just exceeding the temperature in the house, so we will open up the doors and it'll feed in warm air till around 16.30. We won't use te ch until around 19.30.

Next week, the wood burner will probably go on in the evening. Messy, but cheap for us.

Could be worse; we might have gone for wood pellets!
  • Fuelz is very interesting. Always used boilerjuice to get a price then asked my local supplier to match it but I just checked and there are suppliers way cheaper than boilerjuice.

Yes, I checked Boilerjuice last week and their price is higher than that quoted by my local oil club (hardly a notable source of low prices anyway!).

With the oil price as it is, I'm tempted to top-up by as much as I can get into the tank. It's December now and cheaper than when I bought in the 'low price period' in the summer!
  • As of August 2023, the quotations from Heatingoil.co.uk are much cheaper than those available via MSE's table

It was down to 54/58p in East Anglia from May to the beginning of July but has been slowly creeping back up to the 70p over the last few weeks. Since my boiler broke down last winter, between saving a lot of my stockpile and utilising some of the extra layers I bought in I'm hoping I will get through this winter without having to top my tank up this year...fingers crossed!

I was going to order a top up in June and just forgot to do it, really wishing I had now!

Just going to monitor for a while and see what happens, I usually top up in Sept ish

Posting to suggest you add: homefuelsdirect.co.uk to the list of heating oil comparison sites. I've been buying oil for the last 7 years and this site always beats boiler juice on price for me. Cheapest oil & fuel tool don't seem to cover my postcode, while heating oil shop website no longer seems to exist.

Today Boilerjuice were cheapest for me for third fill-up in a row. Only the odd few £ in it over NRG, Homefuelsdirect, Goff, and Bedford Fuels (suspect the last of these will be BJ's supplier).

    • I have been using  oil-club .co.uk for a number of years and found them pretty competitive.
Last weeks price was 0.6199 per litre min 500 lts .
Perhaps it could be added to the list of suppliers
