They are an Agricultural buying group but they are open to all of the rural community including residential properties. As a metter of interest brother in law ordered this morning at 47.49 ppl for property LN9 , Boilerjuice are 49.15ppl so still quite competitive.

I have never heard of them before.

They have given me a quote today of 48.99 ppl for PE12 with delivery within 3 days. We are only just in Lincolnshire, so perhaps this is why the price is slightly higher.

Thank you for putting the information on this site. I am always looking for competitive prices for oil.

  • Hi,
First of all - great new guide - long overdue advice, support and information for the 1.5 million of householders in the UK who don't have access to mains gas.
Re oil tank security - whilst I have tried to screen my oil tank from view, and fitted a fairly elaborate oil tank lock to my plastic tank, I am under no illusion that locks on a plastic tank are little deterrent to a determined thief. I understand that they simply melt a hole thro the tank with a hot metal rod, then pump the oil into their get-away vehicle tank. This often results in a great deal of spillage and expensive clean-up costs that may or may not be covered by insurance.
I am seriously considering changing my ageing plastic tank (nearing it's recommended working life in any case) with a much more secure metal one - try drilling a hole thro that without arousing suspicions! OK - there is a potential increase in maintenance wrt painting, but there are ones out there that are factory coated in 2 part epoxy paint that shouldn't need any repainting for years to come.

Why not just place the plastic tank inside an old steel/rusted out tank/or better still get a steel shield made up with lockable lid! and put a 12volt solenoid on the tank between stopcock and filter, so the solenoid will only allow oil to flow when boiler is operating, (spots them cutting pipe, removing rememnant and then pumping out.

The same as many other people on here I have for some time now had to resort to using internet based sites such as Boilerjuice and the like to obtain the best price for heating oil.

The other day while having a new oil tank fitted the engineer passed me a flyer on a Local company called Woldlink (Louth Lincolnshire) and told me to give them a call as they were cheaper than Boiler Juice and standard delivery was only a couple of days.

It turned out they were over 2ppl cheaper and the fuel was delivered with in two days!!

Woldlink is part of a company called Woldmarsh which is the largest Agricultural buying co-operative in Lincolnshire and its this buying power that gives them their competitive price (So the blurb says).

When placing my order they said there will be slightly cheaper in the summer but come winter I should really see a difference in price. claimed as much as 5ppl :) would be suprised but will continue to update.

If you live Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire might be worth giving them a call. Contact Number is 01507 605230

I just found this company through FuelTool and there was at least 2p off the next lowest price. Not taken delivery yet but quoted max 2 days. You can find their details if you search online. I know lower oil prices are not good for everybody, but after years of paying a fortune for it, I am sticking as much as I can afford into my large tank :j

    Good afternoon MSE,

I buy my heating oil direct from 'Homefuels Direct' because i have had friends that have used many of the so-called comparison websites and not one of them ever beats Home Fuels Direct prices.

It seems to me that it works out much cheaper to buy direct from homefuels direct in most circumstances.

[FONT=&quot]Where are the checks & balances? Yesterday, 30 September 2015, I had an order of domestic oil delivered via Boiler Juice, delivered by a Company called Cornwall Fuels. I was obviously at home in the back room and, had unlocked the 2 padlocks that secured my tank. The next thing I knew, was when I heard the letterbox; I then immediately discovered an invoice from the Company and, then rushed outside to confront the driver, (who was still outside), for installing the oil without paying me the courtesy of making contact with me. He stated it was not Company policy to knock on doors, before installing oil in customers tanks; I was livid, because I had just purchased an expensive additive, and wanted this emptied into the tank before the delivery so that it would mix well. I then emailed both Companies, Cornwall fuels made the lame excuse that it would take too long to knock on doors alerting customers of a delivery: Boiler Juice at least telephoned me to explain the their position but it was much of the same. This begs the question, if oil deliveries are being made to households up and down the Country, where is the proof that all or, any of the oil was delivered if the customer is not present? What if on the flip side, the customer complained they had not received any oil at all or, that there was a shortfall in quantity delivered, because of a 'faulty meter reading', etc.? This lackadaisical approach is open to abuse, and should be addressed as a matter of urgency whereby, a customer or a trusted person is present to sign for a delivery of such an important and expensive commodity. This is standard practice - or at least, it certainly is with all of the companies I use regularly. There's no need for them to knock at the door if the tank is accessible, and this is a benefit to most of us when the delivery may arrive when we're out at work. Next time you place an order, you could phone them up beforehand and ask them to knock first.

As regards metering, the tankers are metered and regulated in just the same way as the petrol pumps on a garage forecourt. If you're at all worried about it, ask to see their latest calibration certificate, and if you think they're not conforming to the rules and regs then contact your local trading standards department.

You do seem to be making a bit of a mountain out of a molehill, but from what you've said the oil company has done nothing out of the ordinary - as I say, it's pretty much standard practice. The easiest thing, to save your blood pressure in future ( :) ) is just to contact the company when you place the order and ask them to knock before filling your tank.

I assume you have an Aga? Otherwise.....
  • Don't use HeatingOil.co.uk (also known as CPL) unless you want to get thoroughly messed around!

Having bought from CPL with no trouble two years ago, I ordered from them for delivery on 5th November and paid by debit card. Nothing arrived so I chased it on the Friday and they said they'd delivered 931 litres (I ordered 1000) although I could see my tank was empty and told them so. "Leave it with me" they said.

Nothing happened, so on Monday when I got hold of them again, they said they'd delivered to the wrong house and would reschedule it for the next day and phone back to confirm.

Nothing arrived and no phone calls until Tuesday when they said that actually the tanker driver had decided that he couldn't get up the lane and he'd mixed up his records and the 931 litres had been delivered to another customer. I then explained that he was coming from the wrong end and on checking the records they had delivered to a neighbour further down recently. So they took the correct directions and said they'd phone back that afternoon to confirm delivery for Wednesday.

Again no-one phoned back and my OH stayed home for yet another day waiting for a delivery that didn't arrive on Wednesday OR Thursday, a week overdue. However Thursday's post has brought an invoice for 931litres of oil which I haven't received and my tank is now so low I am going to run out by the weekend.

Tomorrow I will be hassling them hard, for not only my money back, but as I am now going to be forced to pay over the odds elsewhere to get an immediate delivery, I'm after compensation for that too. The saga continues.....
