Dusty, I hope you actually got into bed eventually! The things we do for our kids eh?
And Jazee, good news about the knifeman.
Oh gosh, keeping stuff from loved ones. Some emotional stories there and I love the one about the lawnmower. I have a box full of the kids drawings and stuff in my wardrobe which I did go through once and sort but thats all really. However, I am very attached to my pyrex roaster which has a long story attached to it but it reminds me of my husbands grandparents. I use that all the time though.
OK kids rooms today then. Have put stew in sc for tea and logged into my e-mails for second job so I have made a good start. Off to get ready for the paid stuff now and I will leave instructions for OH about putting bedding in the washing machine when he rises from his beauty sleep.0 -
I'm not unsentimental. I don't need physical stuff as a reminder of people gone from this life. Memories of them are all knitted together into a big blanket and wrapped around my soul. They are a part of me as I am a part of them, and we are all part of each other with the strands of our lives interwoven into a big blanket of life and time and love.
I have enough emotional baggage to sink a battleship I don't need it in the physical sense too.
And now you can assume I am a nutter
Oh G Pigpen - you have me sobbing loudly and uncontrollably and it is only 8:00.
That is so beatifully and poetically worded and is so very very true. I still have loads of stuff from DM three years ago and stuff from DS school etc etc. It is so hard to go through as it brings back so much emotional stuff that I'd rather keep buried that I keep on putting off sorting it all out. Am getting there - babysteps.
If you're a nutter then I am one too. love V xx
PS - just decided that I really ought to get rid of my wedding dress - 30 years this year and it is a size 10 - I am several more than that now!! But what to do with it? it is a gorgeous short cream chiffon 80s dress? Any ideas anyone?July 16 £95/£200

Morning all.
Today is a baking day. I want to try something for DD's birthday but its going to have to be on a small scale so fairy cakes this morning to see if I can achieve my vision :rotfl: I have loads of baking supplies so I shouldn't run out in theory. Most have BB dates in the next month or so so I'm best using them up while I can
First though (only because the washing machine is on so the noise level is stupid in the kitchen) I'm going to update accounts and do some paid stuff. It'll also give the fruit for the |Easter cake a chance to soak since I forgot to do it last nightCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Day off today so I am going to do a quite half hour hoover, put some washing on but leave any major bits until the weekend as I need to study3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I absolutely loved this, so thank you for saying it Pigpen.
Unless your house is the size of Buck Palace, there simply wouldn't be room to store all of your children's stuff. You let it go when the time is right.
No-one in my family seems to be able to let go of anything. My father used to ring me up (me, Devon, them, Kent) to ask me to go up there to defrost and clear out the freezers when there were only two of them. Then, each time I'd got them under control, he wanted to me clear the second dresser in the outhouse. The seven room attic was piled high with stuff, the three room cellar was chocka with stuff, the only available space in the kitchen drawers was the front top 2". All the wardrobes had extra rails fitted so double the amount of stuff could be squashed into them. On the third to last move, my mother asked the packers to take special care of her unread newspapers, so they were duly packed up, unpacked and I imagine probably read before she at last let them go. I sometimes wonder if the pile of unread newspapers on the second to last move was actually the same one, eleven years earlier.
What I'm trying to say is - that was the way I was brought up and the amount I've *flung* genuinely shocks me (waste), but I haven't missed a thing. I'm now down to the nub of it, but finding it impossible to deal with.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning all
Honeybear.Imagine your house is about to be demolished you have 30 minutes to take what you want and it has to fit within a camper van, what are you taking? Think about what you want to keep, anything which doesn't make it into the camper van has a lot less importance to you.
Not a whole load done so far made a phone call. Chatted with DS1, emptied the WM.
Need to do a HH tiding up and a bit of filing whilst in the mood.
Oh and DS3 was asleep in 10 minutes and just as I was leaving to get DS2 DS1 came home so he got him for me.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
WM done and its hung on the maiden, accounts updated, now I should really get on with the baking shouldn't ICreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
