But asking both parents isn't traditional!

I know, but I believe traditions can be updated.

You can update traditions though can't you. Presumably you don't celebrate Christmas or have Easter eggs?

Don't remember any eggs in the bible...

    Jews don't. Muslims don't. Atheists don't (or shouldn't!).

    Hardly "out of the ordinary"!.

Christmas isn't even very Christian, anyone can choose to celebrate it or not. I know loads of Jews, Muslims and atheists who do, to varying degrees.

Again, updated. The egg simply represents.

...or was nicked from older traditions, like the Christmas tree.

We can all chose to believe/practice/do what we want.

I don't believe there's a right or wrong answer in this debate.

I can't stand people doing things JUST because it's tradition. Do them only if you like/enjoy them or they have meaning to you, otherwise don't as you're just being a sheep.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

My family are the most important people in my life, it is of paramount importance to me, personally, that they are imformed and and respected. That's why it's important to me.

It's not easy. DD (3.5) has no interest in Santa but others (usually adults) insist on asking her what he's bringing. A quick "we don't do Santa" or "she doesn't know who that is" gets raised eyebrows.

A nursery worker waved her off on Friday with "hope the Easter bunny brings you lots of eggs". We're away next weekend and again, we don't do Easter eggs!

It makes my skin crawl when she comes home singing hymns (its a welsh playgroup, not Sunday school!) and she'll be absented from any worship at school.

It's 2014. It should be perfectly possible to live secularly if you choose to.
