I had a wonderful time, genuinely the best years of my life.

I had 2 husbands & lots of boyfriends (loads - they were quite casual & didnt meet my daughter).

I was mother to a young daughter, I worked hard & I partied hard. I still got up took my daughter to school, did my job, housework & motherly responsibilities.

It was the late 80s & early & mid 90s, the rave era :-), the birth of uk garage.

What lessons did you pick up along the way with the two husbands :o

You're not but you can tell me how yours went! So I can pick up pointers and tips :p

I would say it is the time to do what you want to do, before you get financially burdened with houses, kids, etc etc.

You do see some very boring 20somethings who are already well into a mortgage and never go out partying..way too early to be taking life so seriously imo
The opposite of what you know...is also true

It depends what you want from life OP - you will get stories from people with very different experiences / walks of life here, your 20's are what you make them

For me, my 20's were a great deal of fun, many nights out and holidays and some fabulous memories. I didn't plan for the future any further than the next weekends bender nor take my career seriously. IMO 20s are about having fun, theres plenty of time for other more serious stuff later

I am in my 30's now, and recently got married, and house buying is on the cards. I take my career very seriously now and really couldn't compare myself to how I was ten years ago. In my 20s I wouldn't have thought twice about skiving work due to a hangover, but wouldn't dream of acting so irresponsible now.

    I'm clearly ska lover's twin :D!

I'm the same age, my life consists of working 9-5, saving, paying bills and sleeping all weekend. The same for my friends.

I left clubbing behind after the first year of uni!

    How very normal...;)
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Another thing I would do with hindsight is not let my health get out of control - establish good habits early, because your body won't always be that forgiving. But easily said now I don't drink any more ;)

My twenties were pretty good - left college, started working, bought a flat. Was young, free and single most of the time - only myself to worry about. Had lots of fun going to gigs and festivals, did some study, played a lot of music, travelled, lots of socialising. If I could back in time 20 years I'd tell myself (a) to start a pension and savings plan then, and (b) one cat leads inevitably to loads of rescued cats. Apart from that, it's all good :)

Do you have any specific plans so far? How do you envisage your life at 30 - what do you hope to achieve?

    Yes I do.
I want to build my career (fashion buying).
So hopefully just continue keep building my career.
    and ....that's it! :rotfl:
I'd like to make more female friends (but I've heard that you lose them all ? :( )

    Oh and travel and save

i don't have any clue much else hence making this thread to find out all you guys learned in yours and how yours went :)

    Oh and travel and save

In my experience, travel and save don't make good bedfellows.

what about travel? what about socialising? I had 2 jobs in my 20s, a 9-5 and then a pub job which ended up being 4 or 5 nights a week too - it was brill because it was a social life you got paid for :T.
