I'd splurge and spend it on a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant. Tasting menu with matching wines. Mmmm

City break, Prague or Budapest. Your money goes further in either of those than it does over here! Should get return flights for two, hotel for four nights and a couple of days' spending money for that!

I wouldnt bet on that in Prague, it was quite expensive when we went a few years ago. 2 coffees in Wenslas' square cost us £18!

I would defo go on a city break. Although I would be tempted to go to London and have a really nice hotel, see a show and have some spends. But that's just me. Trains arent too bad from Leeds either (presume you're Scarboro/ Filey way?) so coujld go on the train and treat you and hubs to a bottle of bubbles to be extravegant on the way and have some couple time x

Can't believe the differences in price I've seen out there in all the years I've been visiting. I remember when you could get a pint of beer for 20-odd pence! (Am sure 11p in one pub!) Pretty much London prices now, although always check menus before ordering. Can eat reasonably, and tonnes of local places with goulash deals for lunches.

You said for you and your OH, but other posts refer to the kids too. Are you looking for something for all four of you, or the two of you?

    Barcelona's lovely too :)

Have a flick through the wowcher/groupon etc deals.

Wow that's a lot of money for a couple of coffees, I love London and yes we are from that way.

Too many lovely suggestions, I wish I had £5000.00 lol

  • £500? Drive to 'ull, park car, get overnight ferry and 4 birth cabin, to Zeebrugge, then a Bus the Brugge. Stay 3 nights, get absolutely rat faced on 'gay beer' * take the brewery tour, buy a sack of beer to take home, and then return on the overnight ferry.

*Ref gay beer ...watch IN Brugge on DVD before you go
*ref getting rat faced...http://goo.gl/maps/PvWVl here is a link to a bar called Charlie Rockets where you can buy said beer and play pool.

Complete waste of £500, but life is about memories (and I speak from a week thier with our adult children)

If it was spare (in reality I'd need to save it :o) I really want to go to Holland, I met some friends of a friend from there and they were telling me how awesome it is, and I've always wanted to go so I'd book a weekend break for me and the bf. :)
